Hey Brad! (and other viewers!) "A few levels above" is massively overstating it. You're making it sound like the desktop 1650 is some kind of secret monster, and it's not. Mobile-to-desktop GPU comparisons are generally in the order of one product step, and in this case it's much tighter than that. There are some 3D Mark tests where the desktop model outperforms the mobile one by a significant percentage, but equally there are other tests where the mobile product marginally beats the desktop one. And in all cases, it's kind of meaningless to say, "Test X shows Card A beating Card B by [x]%" if that's [x]% of an already poor performance equating to maybe +/-3 fps. Both are fine for digital painting and should be for a good few years to come, but for gaming, you're not going to see a difference in fps between them and they're barely okay for light gaming today. As for 3D work in Blender or UE5, they're not suitable at all.

It's an interesting device, but it somehow looks really outdated and not well designed. No Thunderbolt Port or at least USB-C in 2023? A 4 year old graphics card? 220 Nits only and speakers on the back? Those are all red flags for me, especially when this device costs €2799 over here. I'm looking forward to your Kamvas Studio 16 review, but I already know it has even worse red flags and I've decided to not get it, even though I was initially very excited about it. Knowing that's €2299 over here and has really old cpu in it and a huge lack of ports, no micro-sd slot and more missing, made me decide to look elsewhere and get something more updated for less money. But.. still looking forward to that review and as always, this was a good one.
Remember when Wacom dropped the first Cintiq Companion that came with an outdated processor, integrated graphics, required a keyboard and mouse to be purchased separately, and all the launch day units had faulty power ports that stopped charging after a couple of months? The funny part was the speaker being put next to the fan so if you used it while the fan kicked into high gear, you'd sound like a splatoon character. If this Huion doesn't have any of these problems, it was probably designed by someone who regrettably purchased a first-gen Cintiq Companion.
Small point I wanted to make, for 3D creation, this isn't "mid tier" by a long shot, more like... low tier brushing into ultra-low tier. Its about as powerful as my mid tier GPU from 2014...
@@c.s.christopher5801 for zbrush the number one spec is cpu, since that will give you FPS in viewport. The GPU is basically idle. Ram, as long as the model fits inside of it, it should be good. Minimum 16gb, average 32gb, and recommended for professional use, 64gb.
I have the Kamvas Studio 22 an older version. Is it worth me upgrading???? Does the new version give a better drawing experience. I need another screen so I am torn between buying the studio 24 as stand alone for downstairs. Or a kamvas 24 pro 4K screen for my apple mac. I would appreciate your views on whether you think it is worth upgrading to thee studio 24 from the studio 22 - is the pan to tablet improved????
Very helpful always. Thank you so much. I’m looking for in-depth review of Huion’s new pen. Difference between w517 vs new w550 & w550s slim-pen etc. please cover that in studio 16 review. Can use slim-pen on huion 24 pro 4K.? Etc…
Huion recenntly released a couple of pens; the pw550 and pw550s with pentech 3.0+ technology. Advertisements boast better initial activation and tilt tracking ; but I haven't really found any comprehensive comparison with the last generation pentech 3.0 is it just advertisement or is there a real improvement?
Thank you so much for your review. I was actually waiting for it!!! ❤️... To be honest my personal opinion about this device is a bit strong. The windows issue is not acceptable at all and Huion should apologize for it and make sure it will never happen again. The device is a bit too clumsy and bulky and the specs could be better(especially the outdated CPU) ... In addition the concept of a standalone device is the portability... Here we are stucked with acceptable specs linked to a monitor a bit hard to move and not 4k. Maybe I'm wrong but with the same amount of money we can get a 4k kamvas pro 24 + a very good workstation... The mobile 16" could make more sense because you can travel with it accepting the limit of a portable device. I'm also a bit concern because I do not see many reviews about these devices and it means people were not entirely intrigued 😅 I cannot wait to watch your review!!! I trust you so much because I know you are super honest and passionate about your job and a great artist. 🥰
I use the 2020 (I think) Huion Kamvas model of similar dimensions and resolution as this all-in-one computer display. Performance wise my Huion has proven reliable so far, this coming from someone who used Wacoms for years. I was eyeing up a 4k display but I use a Mac and Macs don't play very nice with 4k resolutions... plus I saved a lot of money in the decision. Concerning the form factor of this thing, I think I prefer the typical display tablet setting - the bulk of the computer part makes it tricky to attach to an Ergotron-type arm as I do with mine I think. It's not like it is a really portable unit anyway. You can say I have a Goldilocks problem with tablet displays (20-inch + 4k kinda hits the sweet spot for me).
My Mac Mini plays perfectly with my 4K monitors. The main problem I've had with my Mac is an older 1080p monitor in my second room - there, it forgets the display settings every single time and I have to underscan the image daily.
@@fablewalls That must be my issue -- I still use a 12-year old 1080p NEC monitor that refuses to kick the can (and me discarding it) as secondary display. Mac OS seems to twist itself juggling different resolution displays.
@@alzamonart I have sent a complaint in to Mac support - Windows can remember all the different displays I plug my work laptop into but Apple seem to think if you're connecting to anything but a 4K or Mac display then you're on your own.
When you do the Kamvas Studio 16 review - could you test Rebelle 6? I had to send back a Wacom MobileStudio Pro because it just couldn’t run it, and my UA-cam channel isn’t big enough to get a review unit out of Huion😢
I'm really interested in the 16. I work in storyboards, and was looking at it for a potential mobile workstation, but it doesn't have a dedicated graphics card, so I don't know if it would work so i never got it....
Hey Brad, I would like to know if new pen can draw and fully functional on older model (like wacom) can you test It for me, thank you so much. I'm planning to buy a new slim pen for my huion kamvas 22 plus.
there is one issue with 24inches... you might as well simply buy big desktop pc and kamvas 24 instead cuz i'm pretty sure most people won't be moving huge brick around or only do art stuff. but if you really live in tiny room and arts is literally only thing you give a f about, this is one of good choices imo I really want huion to release 13 inches version for kamvas studio, cuz i like the idea of portability with good pen- except i don't have a bag that can fit 16 inches in
Now i want someone to open it up and see which parts can be upgraded, if any at all. At least the ram and storage should be upgradeable. It would be a miracle if they put a low profile dedicated gpu in there, that can actually be upgraded 😩
I don't know if this changes on a per country basis, but at least here in Brazil you can pretty much use all windows features even without actvating it!
Is this a standalone product or does it need to be connected to a PC/Computer to work? Is this something i could take to a park to draw on or do i need a constant power source to run it?
Nice review! I wonder if its compatible with an E-GPU I also liked your keyboard almost stole the show haha! Makes me wonder if it is a custom made keyb or a fancy membrane keyb.
The Kamvas Studio 16 has an iGPU: Intel Iris Xe Graphics, which has terrible 3D performance. It's rated 985% slower (not a typo - UserBenchmark site) than the fastest GPUs. If you need portability and need Blender, a laptop with a discrete GPU is a much better choice.
Normally I’d agree, but Huion is a pretty big name in the pen display industry, and Brad has a good working relationship with them, so odds were that is was a genuine issue and not anything sus. Add to that the fact that Brad had JUST set up the computer and most likely had nothing sensitive on the computer and the idea of letting them remote in makes more sense.
@Jake Creates That's totally fair. His situation is unique. With that said, the average consumer who doesn't have a working relationship with them should think twice before letting them remote in. Enron was also a big company, ya know? Lol
@@YeahRightMCD I take your point but if it's the same company that created the hardware - what's to stop them having installed something sneaky in the very first place???
Same here. I was seriously considering this or a Wacom Cintiq Pro 27. After hearing about the problems with windows activation I have to say that I would not TOUCH the Huion product with a barge pole after that. Phoning support, and some random person you don't know asking for remote access to your brand new device? Er, thanks, but NO THANKS!
I ordered it on February 15th, but they told me to wait until April 14th. I don't know if this company is in its right mind. Do they send products to the U.S. first?
It's amazing how cheap these things have become now. When I think how much things cost in the 90s and early 2000s, this stuff is ridiculously cheap. My first graphics tablet cost in the region of $400, connected via serial port with a pen on a string. If I wanted a cad puck for it, that was another $300.
It just doesn't make sense to me at $2400. You could have a Kamvas Pro 24 4K for about $1200 and get, say, an Alienware X14 laptop with the remaining $1200 (or something even better for a little more outlay). You'd have a much higher res pen display, a laptop with better graphics capability: a two-screen set-up. When you get a new computer in the future, the pen display comes with you and becomes even better with each new computer it's plugged into, whereas the Studio 24 is frozen in time with its "okay for now" GPU.
@@JupiKitten That, too! But not just in more powerful all-in-ones: I'd be concerned about improvements in screen tech too, which is why I'd always want a computer-less pen display. Huion have been a bit cheeky recently, marketing QLED screens which don't do what customers expect quantum dot monitors to do (you expect inky blacks on a per-pixel dimming panel, but what you get is an albeit excellent but still full backlit IPS), but sooner or later we will have true QLEDs, OLEDs and miniLEDs to choose from. Wouldn't want to be saddled with a unit that outdated in CPU, GPU *and* the screen.
I just build a similar set up with a better value than this all in one pc (I think in my opinion). I match a Huion Canvas 22 plus and a new Mac mini M2 and monitor arm for the tablet, final touch a Mac mini holder to hide the computer under the desk. could be a great alternative for some fellow artist on budget and limited space.
I was wondering about something similar for my M1 Mini. It runs Blender and Da Vinci Resolve absolutely perfectly but I have been tempted by the M2. I think I'll wait for the M3 Pro rather than upgrade the mini every year but I am definitely interested in a big screen like this.
I’d say Huion pens are about 80% to 90% as good as wacoms at this point. Wacom still has the edge is the amount of time they’ve had with the tech, refining it.
This thing has the same problem Wacom had when they built giant tablet PCs. In a year or five that screen will still be fine, but something in the computer will have died or you'll want to upgrade and then you're stuffed. For the $2400 this costs you're better off buying the standalone screen and spending $1000 on a separate computer (or laptop). It's the same functionality but in a few years time you will only replace/upgrade the computer, not the whole unit. It's 9kg so you're not taking this thing out and about, it will live in the office. The 16 inch model looks way more viable in that regard, 3-ish kg still isn't light but you can carry that in a backpack between the office/school and home.
Eeeeh, I don't know, I would much rather buy one HECK of a laptop for $1700, probably with a 3070ti and still have the money to buy a Kamvas 24 Series and boom, 2 monitor setup and of course you can take the laptop and use it wherever and however else you wish. Much better value if you ask me.
A Nvidia gtx 1650 is pretty good for blender, yes it wouldn't be the fastest rendering but for 3D modeling and sculpting it will do just fine. Heck that card can play most games 1080p at mid to high setting,
Brad why do you think there aren’t more touch screen and pen drawing monitors that allow you to hook up to any desktop set up you want. Every product looks like an under powered computer with this awesome monitor, but it seems like everyone just want all these great feature in a stand alone monitor. Oh yeah, I forgot is somewhat affordable. Thanks for the cool video
I find this form factor really interesting but if this is what the Windows support looks like I can't imagine it'd play nice with Linux installed. The closest thing there is for my extremely niche use case is an Intel Celeron tablet by StarLabs Forget the year of the Linux desktop, I wish we could get the year of the Linux tablet PC
Interesting, I though only Wacom add this Pc+Grafic Tablets in one devices. Now the question is how long does this last, WacomMObile studios only last between 1-4years before they break. I'm not familiar with this brand(not wacom), and ppl say its Chinese so I presume the quality must not be that great... I wonder if they have smaller options like 16inches or something, anything above 20ich too much from my experience. Anway seems to have twice the PC power, bigger screen and storage for a cheaper price(2700€) when compared to Wacoms Mobile Studio 16(3600€), thats at least.
Sooo.., it's a smaller Dell Canvas with a laptop built in. I have the same kit essentially, paid half the price and arrived 5 years ahead of Huion. Hardware technology has plateaued. (Stagnated?) It's now all about software.
Yes but the Canvas had a huge screen and the resolution wasn't great at 27 inches. Anyhow - I thought you gave up comics and were going into video about a year ago? (I used to be on the same forum but some people really REALLY irritated me there) I looked at the Galaxy Book Pro 360 but I now want a nice big screen again and 24 inches is the size for me.
@@fablewalls Gave up comics?? Heavens, no! Video is just a way to satisfy the tech itch and keep my nose in the media game. Comics are in my blood at this point. The Dell's screen resolution is actually quite nice at 27". -Certainly not on the same level as many of the newer tablets where the pixels are too small to be seen, but you have to lean in and squint to see them on the Dell. -And we have to remember, artists got along happily enough on the old Cintiq 21s at much lower pixel density. 20+ inches (at least) for a main drawing board is important for visual artists, so I think you're making a wise decision. My little 15" portable is fine for lots of work, but there are certain composition elements which you only really notice when you can stand back and look from a few feet away. I'm often surprised at what I've missed until I look at a piece of work at a proper full size.
@@MarkOakleyComics I'm always sad I had to sell my Canvas but at least it wasn't a one off and more / different offerings are available. Anyhow, glad you're still making and selling comics. I'm staying away from tabletpcreview but I hope to bump into you online again sometime in the future.
Hmm the Windows activation issue is a bit sus, a bit like they are buying dodgy keys. To be fair it looks like it's running Windows 11 which doesn't always play nice with all hardware, but if the hardware doesn't meet the requirements for Windows 11 it should just ship with 10.

@@Kenb3d1 Generally Wacom is still that little bit extra quality - yes they produced some howlers and they are over priced but I always remember that Huion started with making cheap graphic tablets and here they are 5-6 years later with a serious 1st entry into the all in one market. I applaud them - if you want cheap and cheerful - there's always the Ugee and Yiynova type brands where once the pen breaks, you might as well chuck the tablet away because there are no spares available.
Sounds like a really interesting product. Fortunately they went with the much more powerful 12th gen Intel CPU instead of 11th gen. @@theinktician Why school the computer-ignorant that the desktop 1650 is better than the laptop unless you meant it was significantly better and good? Also, if you're accusing someone of losing their temper but you're the one using the word "butthurt"... well...
If this Huion doesn't have any of these problems, it was probably designed by someone who regrettably purchased a first-gen Cintiq Companion.
is Huion reliable? i want to buy one but a bit scared.
Small point I wanted to make, for 3D creation, this isn't "mid tier" by a long shot, more like... low tier brushing into ultra-low tier. Its about as powerful as my mid tier GPU from 2014...
for zbrush sculpting, amount of ram matters more than gpu
@@c.s.christopher5801 for zbrush the number one spec is cpu, since that will give you FPS in viewport. The GPU is basically idle. Ram, as long as the model fits inside of it, it should be good.
Minimum 16gb, average 32gb, and recommended for professional use, 64gb.
The code is a non-issue Brad, all you have to do is buy another code for like 15 bucks somewhere very simple. Glad you got it fixed though.
beautiful time to be bumping intothis
Etc…
This is the ultimate pen display
Makes me wish Apple would make a larger format 16" iPad Pro.
Huion recenntly released a couple of pens; the pw550 and pw550s with pentech 3.0+ technology. Advertisements boast better initial activation and tilt tracking ; but I haven't really found any comprehensive comparison with the last generation pentech 3.0 is it just advertisement or is there a real improvement?
pls review the huion kamvas studio 16 next!!! great video btw
Does it have display input? Cuz it'll be e-waste in a few years if not.
Is this only a PC compatible "computer", or do they offer a Mac-compatible version? If so, which OS is required?
Is there a way to show a short vid using a ruler with the pen on the 16 version in your next review? Trying to see how drastic that wobble is. Thanks
I'm planning to buy a new slim pen for my huion kamvas 22 plus.
there is one issue with 24inches... you might as well simply buy big desktop pc and kamvas 24 instead cuz i'm pretty sure most people won't be moving huge brick around or only do art stuff. but if you really live in tiny room and arts is literally only thing you give a f about, this is one of good choices
imo I really want huion to release 13 inches version for kamvas studio, cuz i like the idea of portability with good pen- except i don't have a bag that can fit 16 inches in
Now i want someone to open it up and see which parts can be upgraded, if any at all.
At least the ram and storage should be upgradeable.
It would be a miracle if they put a low profile dedicated gpu in there, that can actually be upgraded 😩
My Question is how this Device will Perform on 3D Software ?
Rez
I don't know if this changes on a per country basis, but at least here in Brazil you can pretty much use all windows features even without actvating it!
Is this a standalone product or does it need to be connected to a PC/Computer to work? Is this something i could take to a park to draw on or do i need a constant power source to run it?
This is a standalone product. This is still a typical Windows PC in the first place.
I’ve ordered this since but they haven’t shipped yet 😢
Hope it goes well for you.
@@fablewalls thanks

Can we use 2 fingers to undo in clip studio in windows ? Last time i can't on my mobile studio pro ...
im curious how the kamvas studio 16 performs with blender if you could include a render test with it?
The Kamvas Studio 16 has an iGPU: Intel Iris Xe Graphics, which has terrible 3D performance. It's rated 985% slower (not a typo - UserBenchmark site) than the fastest GPUs. If you need portability and need Blender, a laptop with a discrete GPU is a much better choice.
I would never let anyone remote into my computer... Especially a company selling bunk windows codes. Yikes.
It is a new computer.
Nothing to hide, yet.
It's kind of funny that they decided to go with a larger bottom stand to accommodate the power cord placement instead of using a 90 degree plug.
In 2015, this graphic card would be considered high tier.
So it's kinda fine.
Perhaps a teardown in the future?
It just doesn't make sense to me at $2400. You could have a Kamvas Pro 24 4K for about $1200 and get, say, an Alienware X14 laptop with the remaining $1200 (or something even better for a little more outlay). You'd have a much higher res pen display, a laptop with better graphics capability: a two-screen set-up. When you get a new computer in the future, the pen display comes with you and becomes even better with each new computer it's plugged into, whereas the Studio 24 is frozen in time with its "okay for now" GPU.
Good chance it'll be outdated very quickly if the other art tablet companies all jump in and we get a race going on...
Wow Brad does so much for us ❤
I love it, mostly... can I afford it?
Will this be able to run paint tool sai and a live stream of making art?
This is still a typical Windows PC in the first place, so you definitely can.
The drawing experience is what i am really interested. I hope it worksnas good as wacom pens.
I’d say Huion pens are about 80% to 90% as good as wacoms at this point. Wacom still has the edge is the amount of time they’ve had with the tech, refining it.
@@JakeTheLateCreates Interesting - this is my impression from Surface products and Slim Pen 2: About 85% - 90% where Wacom is.
Can u review the lenovo 11 pro tablet for drawing please.
Can't wait to buy this big boy :DD
I find this form factor really interesting but if this is what the Windows support looks like I can't imagine it'd play nice with Linux installed. The closest thing there is for my extremely niche use case is an Intel Celeron tablet by StarLabs
Forget the year of the Linux desktop, I wish we could get the year of the Linux tablet PC
Support mainly depends on the OEM itself. If Huion don't pay much attention to support, there's not much we can do.
Hi brad.. what pen do u use in Photoshop?
Can you please review the game called colors live on Nintendo switch, it’s a game that comes with a sonar pen and has pressure sensitivity
The Windows Activation problem may be a Microsoft problem. It wouldn't be the first time Microsoft has had activation glitches with their products.
Sooo.., it's a smaller Dell Canvas with a laptop built in. I have the same kit essentially, paid half the price and arrived 5 years ahead of Huion.
Hardware technology has plateaued. (Stagnated?)
It's now all about software.
Yes but the Canvas had a huge screen and the resolution wasn't great at 27 inches. Anyhow - I thought you gave up comics and were going into video about a year ago? (I used to be on the same forum but some people really REALLY irritated me there)
I looked at the Galaxy Book Pro 360 but I now want a nice big screen again and 24 inches is the size for me.
I'm staying away from tabletpcreview but I hope to bump into you online again sometime in the future.
deos XP Pen have something like that ?
You would think a windows key costs $200 but...pro tip: you can get valid windows keys for $5, if you don't mind going grey ;)
Can you test it with zbrush please ?
they should have activated that already before selling to customers
Hmm the Windows activation issue is a bit sus, a bit like they are buying dodgy keys. To be fair it looks like it's running Windows 11 which doesn't always play nice with all hardware, but if the hardware doesn't meet the requirements for Windows 11 it should just ship with 10.

Sounds like a really interesting product. Fortunately they went with the much more powerful 12th gen Intel CPU instead of 11th gen.
