It's even used in Boruto, during the anime-only arc where Sasuke and Boruto chase anime-only villain Urashiki into the past. I hesitate to call it filler, personally I think of it more like 'anime canon', because Urashiki first appears alongside Momoshiki and his second in the Boruto anime.
