Hi When finding TDC With radiator out ,which way is the crank pulley rotated, clockwise or Anti clockwise. Many thanks. Great Videos learned such a lot. Thanks
Just what I have been looking for, great video thanks. My car is 16 btdc so needs adjusting. Getting at the two distributer bolts is difficult, tried and failed so far. I was hoping you were going to show that. I may get a local classic car specialist to do the carb balancing as I don't have a flow gauge. On the other hand I could come up to you once I know the car is reliable, my 74' Stag is new to me and I am finding lots of little issues. You are 40 miles from me here in Nottingham. Maybe see you in the spring?
Hi, I'd be more than happy to do it for you, I'm dn220al.
You take the coil bolts out of the inlet manifold and lift the coil out. Very rare you need to disconnect the wires but if you do just take a picture before hand. Once the coil is out a conventional 7/16" or 11mm spanner will loosen the screws. If you need more guidance, or if that's not clear, look me up on my Web page or Facebook account (same business name) and either message or give me a call.
Great video ! Carb rebuild for mine next.
Fit the gross type needle valves, good preventative measure against bore wash if the stock valves stick/leak
Good lesson there thanks , Iv had terrible hot starting problems , but want to keep Stromberg's , any tips as many of us are having same prob , everything seems set ok , may be e5 fuel ,
Thanks Steve, been terrible at replying recently, sorry.
What plugs are you running? I use a bp6es, the cooler plug helps with hot starting in my experience.
Thanks bp5es I have , I will order bp6es they will get used , any other tips greatly received,
@@stevesalvage1089 could be a tad rich, but I'd try the plugs first 👍
I live in Canada and have recently purchased a US stag. It has a Holley carburetor fitted. Would you recommend swapping that for a stagweber carburetor? I have no idea how to tune the Holley and it’s very difficult to find information. Thx
I would personally swap it out.
The weber will be set up out of the box, and in my experience the holley assuming it's a 390cfm is a bit large for a 3000cc v8.
Hi great video. Do you know of any good stag mechanics in london as your to far for me to visit thanks.
Thank you, not off hand, sorry. Try the stag owners club, I'm sure they will be able to recommend someone
Hi great video, Does the One mark above 7 equate to 800 RPM ? if yes I have an Auto so should I be looking for One mark above 8 so that the RPM comes down a bit when everything is bolted back on ?
Auto car should be idling at 850rpm, so I'd try to set it circa 860/870 rpm
Thank you and I get that but what mark on the syncro is 860/870 ? @@YorkshireClassicCarsltd
HI i'm still not sure what It should be reading on the syncro if I want to set the iddle speed to 860/879 RPM ? Should it read just above half way between 8 and 9 ?@@YorkshireClassicCarsltd
