    Personally like the facelift and ‘hood scoop’ look. Really all the changes were well done, from the og tin top up until now. Love that you took this over Nate! The portal axles and everything you’ve done are coming out great!!

    Nate I think it looks great, & good call on “marrying” it to the hood itself. That’s what I would’ve done. Otherwise I think it would have looked like an afterthought.

    I just have to say that I've been following you for a while (across a few of my own accounts) and I think you are consistently one of the best (and I'd argue underrated, or at least not highly publicized) automotive UA-camrs out there. You do unique stuff, which is maybe why it doesn't necessarily make it into the feeds of more people, but you impart so much knowledge and know-how in a relatively short amount of time. Great work, Nate.

    There's a question that I constantly ask myself whe seeing A LOT of UA-camrs working: "Why is he doing that by himself? Doesn't he have any friends?" (that's actually two questions, LOL), but in all seriousness, I ask because I know that there has to be a lot of people that would volunteer a couple of hours to help you guys out. They don't have to be experts fabricators or skilled mechanics, just a person that can hold a piece of metal while you tack it, or someone that can help you tighten lug nuts while you look for the next part or tool that you're gonna use. Additionally is always good to have another set of eyes that can point out things or give you a different perspective. Maybe I say this because I'm ow retired, but I wish I lived close to any of you guys, so I can volunteer my time. 🤙

    When I do sanding or fiberglass, I put up a cheap easy up in the shop, then use cheap plastic sheeting from Home Depot and make a little room out of it. Takes minutes and keeps the dust off every thing else. Also, for glass filler, 3m makes a product called micro bubbles that is used on aircraft. It’s mixed with an epoxy to the consistency you want, and it cure really strong, and sands really easy. I’ve found on the funny cars that it doesn’t chip or crack the way normal filler will. Project looks great Nate!

    Hey. Nate , next time you are doing body work like this , look into “Panel Bond” it is what manufacturers use to assemble cars with at the factory . It is actually stronger than the steel it is used to bond together. Incredibly strong stuff .. promise you will like it..

  • @douglesarge299
    @douglesarge299 Рік тому +5

    Nate, looks great! In the future you should use panel bonding adhesive. It is what the body shops use to bond panels together. You wouldn’t need rivets and it provides moisture protection. Love your channel!

    I had a 78 Z-28 Camaro back in the days, I installed an Iroc-Z hood scoop,, I grinded the the underside of the scoop and used what they used to call "tiger hair", to bond it together, and riveted , then I grinded the top and layed down fiberglass over, and used bondo to smooth it out..but in the long run, it started to cracked..but I believed they have a better products now.

    The Samurai bonnet is looking awesome, I really love it! Before you role it, it might be an interesting project to make a complete fibreglass mold of it. S if or when you do role it you @ least have a straight template by which to either make a complete fibre glass copy or a guide to effect a repair.
    I have started to teach myself to make molds & it can be alot of work but rewarding in a similar way that body work is. Made my 1st "plug" for an overhead console for a modified 1981 Hilux 4wd flat bed ute (pick up/ Tacoma). Will probably get the finished item vinyl vacuum rapped.
