Just watching this for the first time . Talc powder was used usually after a bath. After drying off you used a powder puff and with a tapping motion applied the powder with a light hand. You never rubbed it in. 😉 As a retired cosmetologist who grew up in the 50’s and 60’s you really made my laugh 😃
Back in the fifties they almost always used these with pin curls or curlers in their hair. You should pin curl your hair (or use rollers) and sit until it is completely dry! Loved everything!
SweetEmelyne's I really liked them. I remember my grandma having the one that stood on its own (your blue one) and she made me use it to dry my hair because she didn't have a proper hair dryer. I was probably 10-11 years old when I used it and it did smell but it smelled like my grandma's hair because she was the only one who used it. I think I still have it somewhere and I'm 27 now. Loved the video and would love to see a fifties Friday. Love you girl ❤️❤️
I loved the hairdryer. My nana had a hair salon for many years and they reminded me of her. Also. YESSSS fifties fridays. I love the fifties. The Lucy days. She's my fave.
Both vintage and retro belong to a certain age: the '30s,' 40s, '50s,' 60s, '70s,' 80s and '90s. Retro style is the one that returns in time or that reproduces the style of a certain era.Things produced in recent years can be considered modern or contemporary. The distinction between vintage and retro is that everything older than 40 years is considered vintage, while what is newer than 40 years is considered retro. When we speak of vintage we refer to what was before the years '60, and when we say retro, we refer to the '60s up to '90 inclusive. So the blue phone is retro !
I had a radio, clock and hair dryer exactly like the ones your showing! The radio isn't picking up the stations -- you probably need an antenna. I'm 76 and used these in the 1950s. Thanks for bringing back old memories!
I love vintage grooming appliances! And we had that blue phone when I was growing up. I think we got it sometime around 1966-1968, And my grandmother had a white phone like your pink one. That style was called a Princess Phone. Back in the day, women always used either rollers or pin curls on damp hair. If you have the time, it's so cozy to roll up your hair in rollers and pop on a hair dryer and read a book when it's winter.
I recently bought a 1952 T.V. that is mint condition....now I just have to find a cheater cord and see if it will turn on :D Em, the hairdryer was scary lol
If you mixmaster mixer ever dies Sunbeam still makes them. My sister bought a new retro one for her 50's themed kitchen in silver a a year ago at Bed Bath & Beyond I think.
Yes to Fifties Fridays! I need to check your old episodes too! There used to be a channel called Glamorous Housewife, where she made all kinds of vintage recipes, but sadly she doesn't make videos anymore (actually I think she does on Amazon, but they're not free). :)
Loved this! The little radio is called a transistor radio and the phone is a rotary phone. The hair dryers would of been used to do a wash and set which would be with either pin curls or rollers.
I have a Sunbeam mixer too! Unfortunately I don’t have the original bowl and the dial doesn’t switch between modes very well. But I have the original beaters and hooks AND the light still works!
I just became a new subscriber to your websiteI like that era from 1920 to the 40s or 50s so if there's any way you could tell us or show us where we could buy those items cuz where I live in this state that's not too many vintage places to go and I really appreciate it and thank you so much
the hairdryer is actuallly cool! it probably smells off bc it wasn't used for a long time and collected dust. But It's a cool idea to put some bigger rollers onto slightley damp hair and let it dry under it for more volume :)
i recommend letting the hair dryer blow for like a couple of hours outside, it should help blow away the dust and or mildew, you can also put it in freezer too, as weird as it sounds, it reduces mildew and mold. you could even pull it apart, and take a look inside.
YES fifties Friday’s would be so good! I already plan on trying out the recipes you make in the housewife video. I made the Audrey Hepburn pasta from one of those videos 😍
Thanks for filming this, you're awesome! I'm SO RELIEVED you didn't apply that lipstick on your lips.. I was about to freak out, 😵🙈 😹... whew! Great timing, needed this laugh today! 🙌👍
When I was little grandma had one of those powder puffs and after I got a bath she would powder me and I loved it. It made me feel grown up..but hers didn't smell super strong lol
For the blowdryer usually they would have rollers in their hair I guess it was a way of curling the hair. Also I you can use it for deep conditioning using a conditioner and a shower cap.
Of course they are going to smell ! They are from the 40s & 50s. ! Probley hasn't been used since then... dust & probley a little rust smell . The phone can be turned up or down, it should have a volume switch on the bottom or back...
Omg I can’t believe you tried the makeup! I think the hairdryers should have been aired out first to try and get rid of the smell. Still loved the video!
I liked a lot! In my country is so hard to find something like this (in my town they seems not exist). I love you Emelyne, I love your channel. Kisses ! ♥♥
The phone should have a volume adjustment dial under the phone.... (I have several older phones) I think I could see it when you lifted the phone to show the cord connection..the volume dial is on the left side under the phone.
First off first 2 hair dryers were for when you had curlers in your hair. But all 3, you put them on your head, then turn on. The 3rd one, put on head then connect hose. Back in the day they would use the talc powder after a bath, however if you have paid attention to tv, you will see there are lawsuits for it giving cancer for the use before the 70’s.
I’m not surprised at the amount of dust in the appliances. Anything you want to use on a regular basis you should run outside for a while to get rid of the dust.
its be soooo cool & so unique & special if you repurposed that blue hair dryer into a lamp!! you HAVE to do it ! itd be the neatest thing ever & to have it out on display would be beyond cool & rad & different. no rules!☺️😉i would totally use the 2nd hair dryer cuz seems like itd be so much less damaging on the hair😉 & you were so silly🤣you rubbed old lotion & powder in your arm but wouldnt put the lipstick or blush on😂😛
where are youuuu?? last vlog was the 10th ...now its the 23rd!!!!☺️😉 i have that same first little red radio-its not vintage -its just a reproduction retro😉😛it works but could work a lil better..hard to stay on good clear station& yeah the lowest volume is kinda loud. i love and collect vintage radios though, have 4 of them throughout the rooms, one in kitchen,bathroom,etc...they all work perfect☺️
Do you do you sell some of these products or do you mail out of tell us where we could get thoseI am a freak when it comes to vintage I like to collect from 1920 all the way up to the lake 50 60s I was born in the sixties 58 years old and I can't get enough of these thingsso if you do sell or male or give us the address where we could find the stuff because I live in the state where there is benthic but not much thank you so much

What did you guys think of those hair dryers?! I was so nervous they would catch fire!😂 🔥
Where did you get the alarm clock/radio?
SweetEmelyne's I really liked them. I remember my grandma having the one that stood on its own (your blue one) and she made me use it to dry my hair because she didn't have a proper hair dryer. I would be so nervous to try out the electronic appliances!! Can you do a whole video about vintage makeup? 😊💖💕
Sure!! 😚💕💕

Queens Vlogs wow where did you find it, and how much was it? If you don't mind me asking? I've been wanting a vintage TV - I think they're so cute!
OreoCake some guy was selling his grandmothers house. 😎

My first thought when I saw this was, "I sure hope that stuff is clean." 😬😂 You are brave, Em!
Hahah it was scary!!😭😂
Jenna Graffunder word I was afraid she was actually gonna put the lipstick on her lips but thankfully she didn't
I would love it if you brought back fifties fridays. Those videos are what made me find your channel !!
If you mixmaster mixer ever dies Sunbeam still makes them. My sister bought a new retro one for her 50's themed kitchen in silver a a year ago at Bed Bath & Beyond I think.
Omg i love this video so much ❤️❤️❤️ keep posting positive and vintage stuff bc it always puts me in a good mood ❤️
I love the pink clock radio! It's so cute. I admire your dedication with the razor. lol I don't know if I would try it.
Yes to Fifties Fridays! I need to check your old episodes too! There used to be a channel called Glamorous Housewife, where she made all kinds of vintage recipes, but sadly she doesn't make videos anymore (actually I think she does on Amazon, but they're not free). :)
Oops, it was actually called Making it Modern, and Glamorous Housewife was the name of her blog. :)
I would definitely watch 50s Friday. I am fascinated by the recipes, and would love to find some old recipe books. And that mixer is amaze!!
Yes!!! Bring back 50’s Fridays!❤️
I was quite surprised that the electronic thing worked! I loved the third hair dryer, you looked amazing!😂💗
The video I needed on a rainy Thursday night!💕

I think you should definitely bring back 50's Fridays! Did your arm and hand have any weird reactions to the makeup?
in Singapore those rotation doesnt work in here anymore, idk why but i was at someone's house and they own one but it cant work in singapore
When I was little grandma had one of those powder puffs and after I got a bath she would powder me and I loved it. It made me feel grown up..but hers didn't smell super strong lol

Yes! Please bring back fifties friday !!!!!
Yes bring them back!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Yes please back Fifties Friday’s!!!
I have the Same mixer. It was my Grandmother's. It just turns on automatically when you plug it in. It must be a tad broken in the dial.
I would probably more afraid of the wiring in the electronics than the makeup. You brave girl!
My grandpa had that sunbeam mixer! Lol, love your videos!
I've tested a lot of old projectors and I hate the burnt smell you get when the dust inside is burning up. I bet the hair dryer smelled the same 😓
Yes. Please do fifties fridays!
I have a modern kitchen aid that I love but I would rather have the 50s one you have. That's awesome.
I have a bottle of the Avon powder but I don't use it because it has talk in it. The bottle looks so red on camera. Love your channel btw 😘
Of course they are going to smell ! They are from the 40s & 50s. ! Probley hasn't been used since then... dust & probley a little rust smell . The phone can be turned up or down, it should have a volume switch on the bottom or back...
Does the razor actually say it’s a razor? It might be an early epilator.
I believe it is.
this was such a cute video 💕💕 where did you get your shorts from !? they’re adorable 💗💞
My grandma always has that cointainer with a puff and she always puts in Johnson’s baby powder
Strawberry shortcake girl!! 🍓
With the hair dryers, I think that they would put them over curlers or pin curls so that hair would dry curly or wavy.
Omg I can’t believe you tried the makeup! I think the hairdryers should have been aired out first to try and get rid of the smell. Still loved the video!
Yesss bring back fifties Fridays!!!!
I liked a lot! In my country is so hard to find something like this (in my town they seems not exist). I love you Emelyne, I love your channel. Kisses ! ♥♥

The razor was scary! I wish you would do the 50's Fridays!
💕 ILYSM Emelyne!!!! I am in the process of redoing my room to make it vintage! Do you have any tips?💕
Awww so fun!! Adding vintage statement pieces really helps! Try buying old lamps, albums and fun things like that!
Where is your top from?! (I made sure to check the description) haha

Put your hair in curlers or pin curls then try the dryers that's how it was used back in the day my grandma told me about it

Awwww I’m glad you like it!!
Your hilarious! Loved this video! 😂😅 I was so worried for you during the hair drying segment! Lol
Please bring back Fifties Fridays!
Love all your videos! 💕
Most electric razors have replaceable blade cartridges. If the blade is dull it will pull on the hairs rather than cut them.
Omg that first clip 😂!!! I love your haircut 😍 so so much!
A real vintage lady 👒💝
The on and off switch on the mini radio is also the volume
Yes bring back fifties Fridays. Btw tomorrow's my b day.

Also realize that the clock radio may be AM radio only, depending on the age.
