As a retired Principal Trumpet player of the Swedish Radio Orchestra here in Stockholm I could truly relate to every word spoken and even at the tender age of 75 am STILL trying to achieve the results that you so masterly perform. Thanks again for you inspiration and I´m now going down to my practice room and pulling out the Caffarelli etude. Be well and stay healthy!

This is excellent, and I thank this fine musician for his time. When it's a rainy weekend, you really do have a chance to get your homework done. I am grateful to the BSO and the Boston Pops for these videos--though this present situation demands a degree of solitude, it's nice to know you--and I--are not alone.

Loved the opportunity to see and hear you in your pod. I played in the jazz band in college in the early 80’s. That was the pinnacle of my trumpeter avocation. (More significant than my paid gig in a community theater pit orchestra summer of ’80 because in college our director was Herb Pomeroy!) Just this year I picked up my horn on Memorial Day and played Taps for my neighbors after many fallow years, and I was amazed I have any chops at all. I miss everything about the art of the trumpet and thank you for letting me live vicariously through you for the duration of this video.

Tom, is an associate 1st trumpet a FULL TIME GIG with benefits? I know Boston is not a cheap place to live, but I figure every full time player in the BSO (with 8 years experience) can afford their own house. I know in a symphony orchestra, the trumpet section is 1 to a part. Do you just fill in when the principal can't play; do you regularly play 4th trumpet or cornet, (when the piece calls for it?) I never knew how an "associate" first trumpet makes a living. Does an associate 1st trumpet have to scramble around for lots of gigs, ie. Boston Pops, and do lots of teaching to make a decent living? Wish my trumpet teacher recommended the Caffarelli's etudes when I played 50 years ago in college.
