Thanks for watching, all! How would you rank The Dark Tower series books? Have you read it before and what were your thoughts on the individual books, or series as a whole?
Wonderful video! This is my favorite series of all time. My personal ranking: 1. The Waste Lands 2. The Dark Tower 3. The Drawing of the Three 4. Song of Susannah 5. Wolves of the Calla 6. Wizard and Glass 7. The Gunslinger 8. The Wind through the Keyhole
@@chrisgaitan1915 great ranking my friend, thanks for sharing! It’s always so much fun to palaver with fellow Tower Junkies to see where we are alike and differ in opinion - these books are such a treasure trove and I find my own rankings evolving with this re-read!
Great to meet a fellow tower junkie! And absolutely, I’ve read almost all of the connected books, save for Black House and Hearts In Atlantis (both of which I plan to read by end of year hah). Have you read them all yet? SUCH a blast discovering all those connections! 😊
Hey there Not only have I found someone who likes the dark tower as much as I do but I noticed in your intro you have a record of my favourite band of all time HYDRA by TOTO and being a film score composer you are obviously aware of their brilliant score on Dune by David lynch.cool flick Stephen king is an amazing author in that he is extremely character driven.I find his books more ish they're like Pringles you can't stop reading it 😂 Take care dude and I look forward to watching more of your content.
Hey Carlo, nice to meet another fellow Tower Junkie! And HELL YEAH another Toto / Hydra fan!! So happy to hear from you. Have you ever watched the live in Tokyo footage from about 1980 or so? Their performance of Hydra on that video is insane! I love their score for Dune as well :) Hahah I know the feeling with King - about 48 books deep now, and once I finish all of his I might just start from the beginning again!
No I haven't seen that particular concert but I have all their other concerts that are currently available on dvd or cd. Sorry for late reply I'm terrible when it comes to correspondence. But will definitely make more of an effort in the future. I am currently finishing the nevernight chronicles by jay kristoff it is brilliant I'd describe it as a croos between gentlemen bastards and first law trilogy.next week for spooky season I am starting needful things by the king himself and looking forward to it.take care man.
@@carlocannas4379 No worries at all my friend! It's so difficult keeping up with comments on here hahha :) That's amazing you have TOTO's concerts on DVD / CD! If you do get a chance to check out that one I mentioned, you will really enjoy it. So great to hear about Nevernight! My wife bought the books, so they are sitting on our shelf begging to be read. I hope to start them next week. Looking forward to hearing what you think of Needful Things! :)
The Gunslinger was my very first King, in April 2016. My favourites are the wastelands and wolves of the calla. right now, I'm reading 11.22.63 and loving it so far.
That’s amazing!! Isn’t the wastelands just incredible? I love the twist in wolves as well as the tie-ins to Salems Lot - just brilliant. Cant wait to hear what you think of 11/22/63, my favorite king standalone! 😊
Here's my ranking the top through the bottom 1.Wizard and glass 2. The wastelands 3. The gunslinger 4. Song of susanna 5. The dark tower 6. Wolves of the calla 7.The drawing of three 8.The wind through the keyhole I really enjoyed the dark tower ending i didn't see it coming
Man that’s a great ranking Angela!! Completely agree - the ending floored me. It still gives me goosebumps thinking about it! Have you re-read the series? It’s amazing to see how many seeds were planted even in Gunslinger!
Wow, I turned green with envy, right off the bat. Beautiful box set! I love how you related the series and themes to your own struggles. There are a number of booktubers reading every book in the series and those related to the world in chronological order. That is something I would love to do one day. In the meantime, I am working my way through all his works, 60 + and plenty to go .I enjoyed wind Through The Keyhole for what it was, and I do not understand the negativity it receives. I think I will be sharing a similar ranking this year. Yes, people don't seem to get that Roland has additional "tools" after the ending. I did enjoy the ending. My ranking is different, but kinda similar, which is cool.
I would LOVE to see your ranking of The Dark Tower! :) I'm always fascinated by how we can all read books like this and get something different out of it (and sometimes for us ourselves, with each re-read!) Do you have any King books on deck you're especially looking forward to? I'm excited to check out Different Seasons, The Green Mile, and Dreamcatcher this year!
@@Shelf-Esteem I am releasing something tomorrow where I talk about my top 20 works by the King, from everything I have read so far. 😀I am excited to read both Fairy Tale and Billy Summers. However, I have many books on my shelf that still need to be read. Check out my playlists.
@@CliffsDarkGems ooo awesome! Can’t wait to check out that video (and your playlists!) Excited to hear what you think of Billy Summers - I’ll try and read Fairy Tale as well later this summer 🤞🏽🤞🏽
Ah haha well I rank your rank of my rank 5/5! 😂🤗 thanks for your comment my friend! I have actually bought but not yet read the graphic novels - so glad to hear they’re worth the read!
Ahh can’t wait to hear what you think of the last book! And I agree, Wolves dragged quite a bit - but on a reread it’s endeared itself to me (especially the Salems Lot connection and the ending!)
Hey man. So ive paused your video at 38 seconds to write this. Ill watch the rest after my comment. Art in all its forms, ie music, literature, films etc, once set, never changes. But we do. This is why i always reread, listen, watch art months and years after my first introduction to it. I say this because ive got the complete Dark Tower series but I've only read through it once aside from the first book. The first two - The Gunslinger and the drawing of the three blew me away. Especially the drawing of the three which I'd place in Kings top 3 best books written having read about 70 of his novels. The rest....The Wolves of Calla and the wind through the keyhole i enjoyed but the rest.....real lows... especially the last two. Song of Susannah being the worst of the lot and imo rates in the top 3 worst King novels written... The final book The dark tower was a mixed bag...first half poor...second half ok apart from the architypical piss poor, rushed ending...this happens allot with King sadly...he runs out of steam and ideas. The others i thought were alright at best. At some point i will reread through this series though as it started so strongly for me... When people complain about GRR Martin still not putting out The Winds of Winter after 11 years i point to the dark tower series and say...thats what happens when you rush through a series to appease fans when you've clearly lost your way with it... Martins 5 books of the ice and fire series is a masterpiece and he will wait till its right. King sadly sold out years ago and puts out any old trash as it sells bucket loads. That said...King has written many masterpiece novels like The Stand, Mysery, The Shining etc. IT is great in parts but to me its his most overrated novel. I think he's written about 2 great books in the 21st century being 11.22.63 and Revival...the rest...ok to terrible imo. I stopped resding his recent works about 4 years ago...i just can't be bothered with him anymore. This Dark Tower series though...it could have beat them all... especially after the first two books but what a drop off... It goes without saying though King is a master storyteller with unmatched charactization its just the baggage that comes often with the rest of his writing... I will come back to this series at some point though because i want to love it from start to finish but i think that ship has sailed. Now...unpause and watch 😂✌️
Hey man, thanks for your thoughts on The Dark Tower! As a massive fan of this (and also feeling similarly to you about the last couple of books), it's great to get some input from you on this. I agree with 11.22.63 and Revival being his best in the 2000's onwards for sure! If you haven't read the Mr. Mercedes trilogy, those were quite good as well (the first two at least, more so than the third). I hope you enjoyed the rest of the video, and welcome to the channel! :)
