Tanay had 2 stone churches built during the Spanish Era. One was built in 1678-1680 by Fr. Pedro Espallargas (not de Espallargas) and the 2nd one (the present Church) built in 1773-1783 by Fr. Alonso de Fentanes. The first church fa ced east (toward Ilaya) and occuiped what is now Tanay Park. It was NEVER "REFURBUSHED" into the present church. They are entirely 2 DIFFERENT CHURCHES!
