This remains one of my favourite live performances, ever. Every song is perfection. ✨🔮🌌
I'm with ye on that comment
I still be listening 👁️✨
Samaris has been on my radar for a few years now but I only just stumbled across this performance. Absolutely divine, love it!
I'm totally addicted to this concert. I cannot stop playing it and dancing to it ( I wish I could find more parties where this kind of music plays). Also, this version of Goda Tungl is definitively my favourite of all. I am quiet sad that they are not together anymore, so there is no opportunity to go to a concert of them.... Really sad about it.
Agree
Have loved Samaris for years now they are truly the sound of Iceland like spirits souls with in the aurora borialis her self .
Ya!!!!
you can dance, feel high, but yet remain calm.
cassauable like reggae
I like you previous KEXP show more. Góða Tungl the best number here, but Again better last time. Keep singing icelandish, it sound so cool. And why is every icelandic artist always called Björk in comments. Cant you seriously hear the difference. This really dont sound like her at all.
I agree, preferred their previous set on KEXP. I think they're giving off more Björk vibes now purely by the weird cloth they put on. :D
Reminds me more of Beth Gibbons than Bjork.... ( That's a good thing by the way...)
I think people often compare Icelandic musicians to Björk because she was the first worldwide famous musician from this remote country. We don't have many other references (until now that more musicians are coming out from there), so it is natural to make this cognitive relation. Also because there are some similarities that are subtle. Perhaps it has nothing to do with the music itself but with the mystical vibes and with the sonority of the language. Very characteristic from that language that differs from other is that it comes from and to the inside of the body. It is like fairy whispering. But definitely Björk is wilder and louder and playing more with cacophony.
Totally agree - it's lazy thinking. Jófríður doesn't sound like Bjork. Aurora doesn't sound like Bjork, and any number of pagan Icelandic / Scandinavian stuff doesn't sound like Bjork but it all get's bundled - even the Sugarcubes don't sound like "BJORK" as we think of her (maybe even Bjork doesn't sound like Bjork given that she's always changing and bless her for that). Jófríður's beautiful voice draws me closer to EARLY Clannad (not the later commercial stuff) but there's a big dub / ambient dub element (I'm thinking the mighty Zion Train here - perhaps more relevant to the first KEXP set?) so even that isn't a real comparison. Why compare? This is them. It is wonderful. End of story. All else is meaningless
Well, after listening to the entire KEXP list, finally something a cut above the rest. Fresh and professional and just plain worth the moment.
I love this beautiful music . reminds me of echoing wale singing and other under water creatures. has the rythem of the ocean. really really beautiful. I'm a Selkie and landlocked at the moment so I find this very soothing. thankyou X
hip hop clarinet... finally
look up cocorosie on kexp!
Was gonna say - you haven't hehard of coco rosie then
feels like easy listening or trance to me... either way- beautiful!
Thank you for being!!!
Samaris is one of it's kind. Love them!
Who is still listening in 2021? Come back Samaris!
This is soooo Amazing. I want to see them in LOS ANGELES! Please SAMARIS come here!
When you touch a Vespertine with a moonstone, it evolves into this.
You bring me inspiration. Iceland music is something different from the other modern music world. I see it again thanks to you. Keep to create your wonderful music on! You're amazing and extraodinary!
what a smooth clarinet! Thanks to her.
Vibin'!!! Thanks KEXP and Samaris. Love the closer selection! beautiful elements
First Björk and now Samaris. Thank you Iceland and a very big thanks to KEXP
Yes new generations Björk transcending sounds of icelandic landscapes shifts in my mind
If these are the only Icelandic names you know, do yourself a favour and dive into the icelandic scene some more. I don't know what they put in the water overthere, but they have crazy talent!
that clarinet is beautiful!
Sooo beautiful!!!
Love!!!
Top Performance 👍👏
Really nice. love the producion and clarinet
Gotta love when you listen a band or artist for the first time and think "yes, i like this, this shit i love"
About as close to a heaven anyone is ever going to get.
OMG! There aren't many bands that give me goose bumps on a first listen....but...🧡 (a bit late to the show here)
seriously mesmerized. So cool, melodic and creative
beautiful !👏👏👏
Great Chill-Out-Music! 🎶💜🎵
Beautiful.
Love Samaris!
Just realized that first song is a cover of Mammut! sounds great!
Beautiful I want a nature concert of this
I remember how this day I got a couple friends to come with me that have wildly different music taste than me. One of them is a real metalhead, and I was sort of surprised how much he liked this band.
Josh G If he's a real metalhead, he'll definitely be up for almost any type of music. Especially if he's a musician himself. The best music takes inspiration from all genres.
You know how many rockers love depeche mode music us music
WTF.... this started for me as an auto-play video and then I went.... Oh, Bjork sounds sweet on this one !!! .... Then I first met this Samaris.... Very Nice Work!!!
I love this!
trip hop alive again. it never should have been left behind.
Bellísimoooo !! :-)
Very cool music!
Beautiful ♥
really liking the third tune :)
Someday she will have a collaboration with Thom Yorke, and I will peacefully die
Hopefully she won't
Epic 😉👍
Nice Sounds!
Gostei muito bom. Não conhecia. Vou pesquisar
God oh god, I love this band! Can't deny the influence of Björk but I don't care about that. They make some fine tunes, that's all I care about.
I like this a lot, it is so bjork
Fuck! so glad i got recommended this shit. clarinet is on fire!
ty for open my perception more deep, conected
nossa eu beijava mil vezes todos os integrantes dessa banda
kkkkkkkkkk eu tb, socorro
She have that Björk style, but it is good, this band is recovering that lost in the music. Such a great band.
(Skizzo Frenetik -
more power the longer it is on
Digital witchery at its finest still till this day. Bliss
So fking dope... thank god i found this
¡Asombrosos! 💞 Amo a los islandeses y su música. 😍💞

great live sound!
this is fucking great
luv samaris so much!!!!
Awesome sound!!!
Ella es taaaan bella
Damn! This is so good!
Sublime
I like it
a surprise gratful !
i think i'm in too bad of a mood to fully appreciate this Elizabeth Fraser/Björk channeling. normally this would improve someone's mood, but in my case i'm too far removed from this blissful frequency to catch a resonance and ride the wave up
i dig his fingernails tho
k as it went on i was getting mad chills omg LOVE them so very much :O
WOW!
Me encanta
It glides, then moves ye feet. Class.
to all those Bjork comments i think she has no resemblence to bjork other than her voice...the music is completly different its just she sound the same bec of the icelandic language i think ...I mean i dont think that girl meant it to sound simliar....her vocal cords are exactly the same as bjork i think thats why this band sound the same....
That first song is killer! I've been trying to download it forever but cannot find it anywhere.
Sublime transcendental
Takk Takk
This is going old-school, but the singer has a bit of a resemblance to "Mork & Mindy" lead actress Pam Dawber.
Anyway, the music is good; very chill.
oh, my gosh, she does!
Some opinions are boring
i feel like kexp has 4 of these bands a week
They do have a strong Icelandic connection. The Iceland Airwaves Festival is live on KEXP I believe. Not to mention a lot of artists from the Erased Tapes label appear on KEXP fairly regularly.
I found this from Bjork. She likes this band, said so as much in an old article.
frábært hjá ykkur Samaris :)
Ska-ndanavian dub ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
this is totally cool
totally...
O>M>G this is soo good😍
Who's Bjork?
She reminds me of those flight attendants giving instructions.
I had also see Mammút playing the first song. Is it original from Mammút or Samaris? Anyway, both are great versions!
Original from Mammút
Where can I download the first track? I know it's a cover but it's amazing
bruceaisher I'm sitting here wondering the same thing! it's the best Track in this video imo
wow!
i want to live in iceland
Who is the band / artist that she mentions at 12:25? Thank you!
Bob Marley meets Radiohead meets Roxy Music .love this
Ugh, I've only tripped a few hundred times and never had a bad experience. Maybe I'm at a disadvantage here because I was usually surrounded by sagebrush or Joshua Trees instead of volcanos and massive but short waterfalls, but this music makes me feel like I'm trapped in an elevator connected with a gas mask to a 75 pound tank of nitrous oxide, and I'm stuck in there with a biorobotic river nymph that just lost a fight with a roll of gossamer in a fabric store.
She keeps attempting to communicate with me monosyllabically, while repeatedly holding up both her arms to show me they're broken. I'm having my first bad trip, ever.
As long as this video turns back into an epic tour de force of Rock & Roll once the drugs wear off, you'll know there were no permanent side effects.
I thought I was the only one who caught that Björk vibe on that singer.
I think it's just what Icelandic music sounds like now :)
Scandinavia =/= The Nordic Countries. Please guys.
It's like James Blake and Bjork made electronic babies... Delicious.
how do I download the first track?
Very Gus Gus to me... like it!
Real viking music! Rawr let's get the ships ready and raid some anglo-saksans!
did they stop making music?
This is miles better than the garbage churned out by American bands
