I think that the white lines on the guys hair is only done at the barber's shop. It helps the barber to see the edges and carve it better. Once they shower after the hair cut, the white line disappears. Some might even clean it off at the barber's shop. That's why those pictures you see is mostly at the barber's shop. I've never seen anyone walking around with those white lines.
