2022 BMW X3 LCI VS 2021 BMW X3 Comparison! What are the changes?

- Опубліковано 4 лют 2025
- BMW has pulled the wraps off the facelifted (LCI) version of their X3 and X4 both in regular and M guise and i got a chance to look at this $49k X3 30i xDrive without the M Sport package. Styling wise, the X3 and X4 both gain new LED headlights as well as a new more angular bumper treatment. The X3 gets all new lobster claw LED taillights as well and there are also new color options as well as wheels like these 19in Y spokes. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

🏁 @Alllcarnews Spec Sheet: The powertrains remain the same as well. For this 30i spec, we have a 2.0L Turbo 4 making 248HP in either AWD or RWD, sending power through an 8 speed gearbox. The X3 M40i In-line 6 gains a new 48v mild hybrid system. 🏁

As it is just an LCI (life cycle impulse) or a facelift, not much is new other than the minor styling tweaks. Inside does gain the newer BMW center console, new iDrive 7 system, new gauge cluster and optional Live Cockpit professional, and redesigned climate controls… otherwise it’s the same. Build quality is great as usual but for $49k this one felt sparse inside and out as it lacked things like the Executive Package, M Sport and others. The X3 remains a solid buy but this LCI is just a little update before we wait for an all new version within 3 years.

Just to reassure everyone! Both of these are X-Line trim vehicles though the 2021 version happens to have a M sport steering wheel. They both have the same engines as well. Sorry for the confusion!
It’s okay bro, nice comparison video!
great work man! Mistakes happen, so don't beat yourself up about it.
🖐 ❤️
I think the 2021 is more beautiful
2021 much better than 2022
Honestly there is so much that is the same its silly
I believe the remote power folding mirrors is a setting in the idrive that needs to be selected. Also they removed the latches from the trunk to lower the back seats on the 2022.
I love all of the updates. I like the new tail lights. They're eye catching
Great video i have the 2021 and am gettin the 22 and this video was very informative
Awesome! Hope you enjoy
Thanks for the review........and what not.
The 2021 here has the cheap wheels, whereas the 2022 has the $600 19 inch wheels. This makes the comparison apples and oranges. The $600 wheels are available for the 2021 and make the car look much better.
I like this standard look of the facelift compared to the m sport which has too much going on with the bumper, too many lines and surfaces make it look like it was in an accident... This facelift trim looks cleaner in design
Nice review. The alpine white near to gray, which color makes the car look more prestigious and muscolar?
I really appreciate the info you gave
Glad it was helpful!
The folding mirrors on the new one might be configurable in the settings
Suggesting you take some of the review at night so head/back light updates are more differentiated.
Does it have digital key?
2021 looks more better in 2022
Good one. Thanks!
The 21 is more attractive.
I had high expectations for the 2022 X3, but I was very disappointed. The new X3 non-shiny b-pillar looks too cheap. 2021 looks luxurious, but 2022 doesn't. The wheels look much better on the 2021 model. omg 😢😢😢😢
i think the front and rear look better on the 2022, in person it makes the 2021 look outdated. Same thing happened with the 5 series LCI but it definitely takes some time to get used to it. Seeing it in person helps
Hi, how about the floor? Can I use the same floor mats from 2021 to the 2022? TIA
yes
Thanks for the video! One quick question if you don’t mind: do you know if the 2022 model has the digital key feature which you can add a digital key to the iPhone? Thanks so much!
Unfortunately it does not
@@Allcarnews Sad...but thanks!
Partially true. It does, but it's currently not available due to supply chain issues. BMW is refunding $80 to any builds due to availability.
@@wegotbrent Shocking. Did hear that some cars didn’t have some heated seats due to the shortage too
@@wegotbrent Gotcha...any idea if BMW could potentially bring it back anytime soon? It is literally the only thing that prevent me from making the move now...
the rear light is good enough for me to NOT get this. that new design in hideous. I am happy with 2021 rear design
I do not like the refreshed front either. I prefer my 2019. And I have fog lights as well. Keeping my 2019 in beautiful mineral white metallic. Love my 19" wheels too. Much richer looking than those shown on the 2022.
I hope the X4’s go to that lot i winder what the back looks like in person
yeah! the X4’s are delayed a bit
Does anybody know if the side mirrors are interchangeable on both 2021 and 2022? Somebody broke off the left side mirror on my new BMW X3 2022... just looking for a proper replacement.
They likely should be as they are the same cars just with different front and rear bumpers
No fog light in 2022,,
Is just me or can all this parts just be change look like they will just click in
The 2021 in this video is one of the weirdest specs I have ever seen. M sport steering wheel? 225 width tires? LMAO
Could I adapt the old grill to the new one??
@@tiagoleite2721 it would be incredibly difficult as it’s not just the grille that is changed. Not worth the hassle
Is it black metallic or jet black for the 2021 model in the video?
Jet black and around $43k used
It’s very weird because on the 2020 3 series it also does that when my mom had a loaner 3 series it had the m sport steering wheel but also on there website Yiu can do it with m sport wheel
yeah that threw me off haha! Had to make that correction in the video because the comments would be a war zone
Mine has the folding mirrors
A 2022?
@@Allcarnews yes
Hmm this is a pretty bare bones spec. Unless it is an option in iDrive to turn them on/off this one’s weren’t going
It’s pretty unfortunate that the 5 series lci,X3 and x4 lci doesn’t get laser lights
Only the uk gets them
As far as know 5 series does have laserlights
the 5 series does yes
they do I need to check the website then
9:04 my guy in 2077
I think the X3 lci looks better and I think it looks more modern like the 5 series
yeah!
i just hate this. these new features were suppose to b given the 4 ltr M not the whole range cause they did nothin
It would be nice if you don't whip the camera around too much!
What a botched facelift.
it’s quite tasteful in person. the m sport package looks great too but unfortunately they didn’t have one in person for me to check out just yet
The new Live Cockpit Plus is extremely ugly!
Interior UI dash still looks so dated compared to the Mercedes and others with the full Monitor UI dash displays... BMW is falling so far behind it's a shame.
nah the new iDrive in the iX, i4 is wild, is about to spread across the range
Dated ? The dash is beautiful. Mercedes-Benz lost themselves after the 2000 model year, bringing the most crap in the industry to the point of no return now. Only their S-Class and the G-Wagon looks good, other then that complete garbage. BMW on the other hand has lost some of its touch in the last few years, especially with reliability and bringing out to stupid models like the 2 series but still BMW holds it’s ground quite well. Mercedes-Benz was the pinnacle car, in it’s day, those days are long gone.
@@Allcarnews much much better and easier to use as well.
