Tulane's rival school Southern Miss fan here, as much as I despise Tulane, I love this win for them, and I hope that this boosts their program to a new level. Part of me wishes they would come to the sunbelt so they could play USM every year and the rivalry renewed.
As an Oklahoma fan this epitomizes what Lincoln Riley is all about. He can't field a defense that can win postseason games and it will always break down. He had 3 starting NFL QBs at OU (Baker Mayfield, Kyler Murray and Jalen Hurts) yet failed to win even one playoff game and got blown off the field in two of his three attempts because his defenses were pathetic. He'll win a bunch of regular season games at USC but he'll never win a national championship.
Tulane would have done a better job in the National Championship. If anyone noticed..Tulane has a big offensive line. They pushed USC back the whole game. Tulane reminds me when Boise State upset OU in the Fiesta Bowl.

One thing that I want to point out. If you look at almost all the college teams now, they run the same offense that many criticized University of Hawaii ran 15 years ago on their 12-0 season. Many major conference teams accused the refs for many of the Major college teams that lost to them. UH has been running this type of run and shoot for over 40 years. UH had no 3, 4 or 5 star recruits but were still able to beat many of these Major conference teams. They called Colt Brennan a "system QB" and Mel Kiper criticized him for his lack of being under center, his throwing motion, and the SYSTEM for the gawdy numbers. Look again Mel Kiper. Almost EVERY college team and Professional teams run the QB in shotgun, have 4 receivers and one blocking back. Who's playing the SYSTEM now??? Almost EVERYBODY! And this is why many Bowl games scores are 40+, this is why teams like Tulane can knock off a Major College team. If you can't outscore the other team, you already lost!
Colt Brennan was criticized for being a rapist in addition to racking up 16k passing yards against the WAC and less than 200 against Georgia when he finally got a chance to play against the big boys... Agreed though that NFL people, media, GMs, owners, etc, are arrogant and overly rigid in their thinking... H.U.N.H., R.P.O., Read Option, Air Raid... All of these concepts were dismissed as gimmicks by "the smart guys" 20 years ago, now they are widely adopted throughout the NFL. Also worth noting that half of those concepts are new variations of very old ones, like the Single Wing and Veer. Looking forward to seeing Jalen Hurts run the Wishbone this weekend and win with less than 8 pass attempts...

Yeah that was a boneheaded move. If it goes out of bounds it's Trojan ball at the 35, if it goes into the EZ it's Trojan ball at the 25, if he successfully fields the catch it's Tojan ball at the 25. No upside to that decision, only risk. Of course there is the 1 in 1,000 chance that the ball lands in the field and bounces backwards towards the kicking team. It's possible, but I've never seen that happen on a deep kicked ball off a tee, just sky kicked and shanked punts...

This is such BS, on the winning drive on 3rd down the lineman had a choke hold on the defensive lineman and no flag, this would have added another 10 yards to get a first down, refs can make the difference

I saw SC O-linemen doing that many times throughout the game. I guess they weren't prioritizing those calls.
