- The MacMaster is in Darlington at The Holiday Inn on his way to Edinburgh in his Electric Car. Whilst staying for the night at The Holiday Inn he thought he would review The Holiday Inn Breakfast after reading some online reviews which range from good, bad to downright disgusting. Let's find out for ourselves.

The quality of your editing is superb. I watch alot of channels and yours is in my top tier. I respect the effort you put in.
Thank you. 😎
£30 for breakfast Maclad?
They better have fried quails eggs and pate de fwaa graaa
There is no way I would paying £30 for breakfast. It sounds quite ridiculously pricey.
A fair review. Can't say I'd ever stay at that particular Holiday Inn as its about 8 miles from my house and I'd rather spent the extra 15 minutes driving home 😁
For a trip up to Edinburgh I'd have to recommend going the A68 route, so much more scenic than going up the A1. Only trouble is you're driving a milk float and doubt there's any charging points that way 😁
Now that funny very funny 😂 😂
We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express, Glasgow airport in 2019 the night before we flew out to Benidorm (first time). Because the flight was at 7.15am and we had to check in at 5.15am, the only thing that was on offer at 4.30am in the morning was Continental breakfast - but better than nothing! Included in the price. Next time we went to Benidorm we stayed at the Holiday Inn, Glasgow airport. Had to be up at the same time. We didn't even get a Continental breakfast offered to us at that hotel - it was "too early"! So this September, we are back staying at the Holiday Inn Express! Good vlog, Lee, as always.
Thanks Lee for all the vlogs 👍🏼😊
Thank You Alli xx
Great channel Lee, I remember I used one of those toast machines in a hotel to make a bacon and cheese toastie, toast the bread first then ad the bacon and cheese and pass it through the machine again, it worked a treat.
Marmite is wonderful
Great umami... brimming with glutamate.
Top tip Lee. If you need an extra breakwater between the tomato’s and the egg or the beans. A thin squirt of HP makes a good if soft breakwater.
Lee, it's so nice of everybody to tell you how to eat. Every day.
Another song about Holiday Inns is from Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention (c. 1970).
Everything looked fine to me, and I would have had some of all of it, except for the bacon, black pudding, "hash browns" (which they weren't), and marmite. Now I guess I'll be called the spawn of the Devil incarnate. It's just bleedin' breakfast!
Having cerial and a fryup is crazy in either order lol I'd struggle to finish my fryup haha, great vlog again Lee
Hi Lee totally agree with you regarding the toaster...it stops me from having toast and where we go they only have one toaster....as for the breaky Im like you I have the fry up first then the cereal
@The MacMaster , Lee set your table up first, Coffee orange and toast done , then the breakfast to save it going cold
"Whoever invented those toasters must have invented electric cars"🤣🤣
Electric Car getting a little monotonous now...surely he's had enough bother with it to cut his losses and move on?
Paddy Mc Guinness doesn't belong within a million miles of being on TV.
He is about as funny as piles to a jockey.
Marmite on toast , love it, not many places have it at breakfast time
Great to see you on Wildside Stephen’s vlog last night, you were great Lee. I’ve never been in a Holiday Inn let alone have their breakfasts. Hash browns just not the same as those in the States. It was frustrating watching you trying to put the jam on your plate. I love Marmite have done since I was a kid. Love my toast too but definitely cereal before main breakfast Lee and not the other way. Incidentally Alpine cereal is one of my favourites especially with ice cold full cream milk, you should try it sometime. Not sure the breakfast was worth the money though.
I was trying to calculate the calories in your breakfast and I am jealous. Even if I ate nothing else in a day, I would gain weight. As a result, I ignore the temptation and skip the supposedly "most important meal of the day." It is important - mostly for farmers, food manufacturers and restaurants. But I do enjoy seeing you enjoy it.
My thoughts are about how much petrol £90 would buy instead of staying there...My A5 won't even hold £90 worth...🤔😏😏😀😳🇬🇧
As a chef that breakfast looks disgusting I would never serve that
I bloody love Marmite on toast. 😋
😂😂❤ cutting click on the video for this for soon as I seen the word Dreadful keep up the good work lee!
My Dad used to embarrass the hell of me when we used to go to Hotels all you can eat.Use to stuff himself six sausages , three eggs , five rashes of bacon etc used to get his money worth alright. Wasn’t even a big man lol .
Hi there Lee I’m just about to take over as head chef at Holiday Inn Darlington North. I’ve watched the whole video and some good feedback I really appreciate it. The issues that you brought up I will look into them and rectify this and maybe hopefully bring the breakfast up to a 10!
Hey sounds good. Enjoyed my stay and the staff there were fantastic. Just crisp that bacon up a bit. 👍🏼👍🏼😊
I’m glad you enjoyed the stay and everything but I will definitely make sure to crisp up the bacon and if you’re ever in the area again make sure to pay a visit! 😀😀
Will do 👍🏼👍🏼
@@bleedy4 that bacon was perfect for me . you cannot please everybody.
what kind of weirdo has room left for cereal after an all you can eat full English 😮 😂😂😂
Glad to see you again. Missed the channel after 8 weeks in Sunderland General with Sepsis and veinous interruptus. How is the blonde angels son getting on.
Hey hope you are feeling better. I've not spoke to Ange for a few days, hopefully will catch up soon.
Stuoid question Lee i might of missed it so sorry if that is the case what was the price for the breakfast or is it included in the price of the bedroom thanks
Great video Lee,it did look alright to me mate
That's that song firmly in my head, cheers Lee! Lmao! Why does that bacon look so bright pink on the buffet?! Sausages look ok, hash brown done nicely, still unsure of that pink bacon haha!! At least the toast was done 'ok' on one side lmao! I doubt the beans were Heinz for cost purposes, but then again, I think that price is very high for a breakfast!! Could you go back and get more of the fry-up? If it was £90 for the night and £120 including the breakfast, I got to go with a 6.4 🫤
Get the drinks and cutlery first, don't leave it getting cold on the table.
I will just about eat anything but marmite, it is an absolute no no. I even eat kimchi which is fermented cabbage and veg, so I think that says a lot about marmite 😅. Holiday Inn breakfasts are not the best, I do like to stay there and evening food is good if you cannot be bothered to go out but is a little expensive. The Hilton is far superior and not necessarily more expensive depending on which one you choose to stay at. Great vid bud👍
Watching you recently I bought today some tinned tomatoes and black pudding for my breakfast in the morning. Also some large mushrooms.
Jesus calm down Terence it will be hash browns next 😮
HP on a breakfast all day! people who put ketchup all over it aren't right😂
£30 extra for breakfast 😂 I thought you said it was a holiday Inn not the ritz 😅
hi lee.hope you are well . what another great review what more can we expect from you.i must say the breakfast was quiet good especially having the hash browns i prefer them to fried bread all in all a decent breakfast .stay safe stay well👍👍
To be fair that looks really good breakfast. Good selection of cereal toast jam and my favourite marmite. It’s what I would expect at a Holiday Inn or similar.
Id have the cereal/continental selection after the fry up too as it acts as a sort of dessert or as you'd call it a pudding! :)
My experience of the holiday in breakfasts was about a 6 or 7 so okay filled a gap looking forward to Bonnie Scotland!!🤓
Please hold your knife correctly. In polite society the end should never be seen. IT IS NOT A PEN.
I'm from Mansfield 😉
@@TheMacMaster And your Mum's from Ashton-Under-Lyne. I think being posh is out of the question for you Lee.🤣
We stay at the holiday inn express at Stockport before we get the coach for our main holiday ,we have breakfast as well I found the breakfast enjoyable at the Stockport one and the staff were excellent.
I like staying in holiday Inn when I am travelling as you get breakfast included. 7 / 10 is about where I would rate their breakfasts, maybe 8 as the best thing is you can have as much as you like and you can also take out some breakfast baps for lunch latter. My son loves the hot chocolate
Brilliant vlog lee.. it's all toast
Haha, good effort. It actually looked pretty decent that, though I may have been swayed by memories of breakfasts in the galley at HMS Nelson & Raleigh 🤣
Marmite is amazing, especially with cheese and butter on a jacket spud. Other than that I agree with almost everything you say MacMaster. However I do not get Hash Browns. I love potatoes, chips, roast tatties but not them. I must have fried bread with a fry up and plenty of mushrooms and tinned tomatoes and crispy bacon. If I am honest I have never tried black pudding but perhaps one day.
Hey Nick, can't say I agree with all you say (For example, mushrooms should be eradicated from the planet IMO) but I need to try your Marmite jacket spud thing. More details on how you do that please? BTW, do try black pudding AND white pudding. They're totally different but both amazing. You would find them both on an Irish breakfast and you can't go wrong with one of those. (I'm English and living in England, but you get a banging breakfast in Ireland for sure).
I was thinking Hotel California. got to say that Breakfast looked delicious nowt wrong with that, I could eat one now. Loved the Vlog Lee. Onwards
£120 inc breakfast! That's crazy money for a Holiday Inn. Premier Inn is much cheaper and you get brekkie included. Why was it so expensive? Was it because you didn't book in advance? I think Alan Partridge will be seriously considering legal action over your sausage breakwater comment. Didn't you know that's copyrighted
Doing the work so we don't have to. Great video Lee ❤
People think I'm weird as well because I always have my cereal afterwards but they think I'm more weird than that because I love marmite 😋
Some cost cutting going on with the jam and the cereals in the bowls. They could be supermarket own brand and you have to like it or lump it.
Looks ok (minus black pudding) but a stupid way to have to find room on your plate for the jam, next time put it on a saucer or in a cup. I think hash browns are fine on a breakfast, if you like it then why not? Cereal afterwards though? You’re the only person I know who eats ‘the wrong way round’
The last times I've stayed at a Holiday there was no fried eggs only scrambled egg. I Have never tasted eggs like them no flavour had to mix it tomato sauce to make them taste of anything.
Middle of the road for me, I'd give it a 6. As you say though the staff and atmosphere does add to the breakfast or indeed eating experience. Good review Lee 👍
Almost got a cup of coffee there Lee.
Yeah Karen, I thought that. You see a reasonable sized cup, then they only half fill it. Really annoying. That said, I prefer tea with a fry up. It's handy because you can stick the rock hard butter on top of the stainless steel teapot for a couple of minutes to give you a fighting chance of spreading it.
Great informative video, found you via walk on the wild side, new friend, big like 👍👍😊
Been to one in Middlesbrough, I can't have milk, they were very helpful and got me some soya milk. Food was excellent.
It all looked a bit cold, I didn't see any steam and the bacon was cooked by a heat light rather than a flame
Omg , cereal after a full English??? , would you have pudding before your dinner?? , mixing cereal?? , omg this is just wrong Lee .
Lee your in my neck of the woods here, next time you're up here please, please visit Durham City for Bell's National Award winning Fish n' Chip Restaurant in the Market Place and a must to look around the Magnificent Durham Cathederal!
Looks pretty good to me. I would rate this 7.5/10 Lee. xx
Since retiring ... Hash browns have become a must on my morning fry up 😊 ... Your overall breakfast, in my opinion, rated a passible 7.
Brill blog.. 👍. Buffet puts me off.
In the Summer flies landing on the food .
However £30 steep ... Did look half decent .
When you coming to Cardiff ? 👍👍
A big thumbs up for plum tomatoes.
Must admit i do love a buffet breakfast, you can always have more of your favourite items😋
A decent buffet brekkie, same in all Holiday Inns, stayed in many, UK, Australia etc. There was a good selection of foods and reasonable quality. I like my tomato juice and they rarely put that on. Cereal first ! Jams and Marmite should also have been in little sachets. Anyway a solid 7.5 from me.
Glad to see you're enjoying the black pudding & i thought the beeakfast looked very 👍 👍
Now this is controversial tomatoes do not belong on a breakfast
I had the breakfast in Holiday Inn Docklands and it was wonderful & the staff were outstanding (who even cooked us things specially). Big thumbs up from me.
How can you mix coco pops and cornflakes together!!!!!!!!
£120!!! My word!!
Geoff subscriber here beep beep beep keep smiling 🤪🤣😜😜😜😜😜😜😜😜😜😜😜
EXPENSIVE ✔️RIP OFF ✔️WORTH IT ❌
You know I'm watching you put that breakfast together and just watching you do it that is a lovely breakfast. Now I'm going to watch the end of your video and see how you li😊ke it LOL
I'd give it 7.5 need little pots for the jam and marmite on Crumpets is so yummy 😛
It’s more than staff.
It’s also quality of food they serve.
Good luck driving to Edinburgh in the milk float , you might get there before Christmas.🎅🏻
Hi lee that brekky looked okay like they say cereals first then the fry up i like hash browns if you dont leave them alone i would give that an 8 😂😂❤❤
Totally agree about order of eating breakfast. Full English = main course. Cereal/pastries etc = pudding. It's sweet!
Don't agree about marmite though. I once hated it until my mate showed me that I spread it too thick. Now I love it!
I would expect all the cooked breakfast cold by the time you get to eat it. Why not get the butter, nutella and jam while your toast is cooking.............
Did Alan Partridge invent the sausage breakwater ?
He wouldn't have committed any rookie errors ( as he was at a travel tavern for almost a year)
Great vid 😊
I've had breakfast twice at a holiday Inn. Both times the quality was poor and the coffee bad. The last time we stayed in one we went in to town and found a small, independent cafe, the breakfast was wonderful and half the price. Holiday Inn ..... not worth it.
This is just a few mins from me! Love the way it actually looks like someone's kitchen! Breakwaters are impossible when you have beans AND tinned tomatoes as those 2 things mixing are awful 😀
Looked a half decent breakfast. I thought whilst watching those Mushrooms 🍄 look yuk. Plus bacon in hotel buffets always looks insipid.
Loved that they had cheese 🧀 and ham continental selection. Two slices of bread ham, cheese, wrap it up and there is your lunch. Always did that if I knew I would be on the road around lunchtime 😂.
Bit pricey though at an extra £30 on top of the room price. I think 7 was a fair score.
I feel the same way about Nutella as you do about Marmite..."one man's meat..." PS Did you ever return the only HP sauce that you took from the buffet? It looked like the freshest thing on your plate.
You are correct. That was the only HP Sauce bottle and it was meant for diners to take some of it and leave for others to use. He took it to his table, poured out nearly all and didn't return it for others to have what little was left. SELFISH!
Marmite yessss..
Give Marmite a chance. I thought I would hate it but I was converted 30 years ago, when I discovered that I actually liked it. I use it on toast and as a soup stock, it's a daily staple for me.
Looks like a suitable place for the overseas visitors. No doubt has seen better times.
Oh Lee it looked ok but far too pricy , and Lee you do loads of breakfast reviews which we love you for but I can’t I just can’t enjoy a breakfast without fried bread buddy 😂😂 keep up the outstanding work we love it ❤
Hi Lee I noticed the sausages right away the bacon looked meaty I don't eat eggs so I think an extra sausage 😋😅my score 8/10 and yes I will have that song on my head for my night shift I will pass it on hahaha 😀
You might be on to something, I always have my cereal before the fry up but when you think about it cereal is sweet, a bit like a desert and your only really ruining your appetite by eating your cereal before the mains.
Next time I'm going to try your way and if it doesn't work I'll blame you 😅
Tinned tomatoes versus fresh tomatoes. I remember you saying in an old post that fresh tomatoes were better. Be consistent Lee or how can we take you seriously :-(. On a positive note I went to many of your recommendations re Benidorm and they were spot on 🙂
No. Fresh tomatoes are better, if cooked right or they are crap. I just prefer Tinned tomatoes as I'm from Mansfield. 🕶
@@roberthallam6741 I'll try and dig out the link to a very old vid where he said they were disgusting 🙂
@@TheMacMaster Loved your Benidorm posts Lee. We had some great meals from your recommendations. We can forgive a tomato or two 🙂
@@SusanMorrin LOL x
Breakfast isn't complete without marmite on toast. Yum yum
Love Marmite Lee it's good for you, might burn your mouth though, The plate was not big enough for you for breakfast and for toast, why do we have small plates, 9/10 from me looked ok I thought at least I didn't have to eat it....😎😎
Just as you put the bacon on the plate, someone downstairs started cooking, I could literally smell it through the screen lol
To be honest that breakfast looked better than some of the breakfasts you've had in your other vlogs from cafes etc etc, only thing I wouldn't have on mine is definitely the hash brown 🤢.
Lee u gotta definitely have cereals before a full English breakfast lol.
And Lee, leave my mate marmite alone 🤣🤣🤣 u either love it or hate it and I certainly LOVE IT 🤣🤣🤣🤣
7.8/10 for the breakfast for me 😀😀
Holiday Inn Bloomsbury is excellent. Two different sausage, including Cumberland. Eggs to order and great poached eggs fresh. It’s 9/10 consistently.
Marmite love it, great when you come in from the pub
Love the selection 👌
I would be taking two more eggs, but no thanks for black pudding.
Black pudding is great, that was grey pudding.
Lee, save on cals, leave the butter and take double jam. You get the morning sugar kick you need and texture on the toast instead of melted butter sogginess.
Wasn't a bad breakfast tbf id give it a 7.2 keep up the good work lee loving all your videos, we dont do itv & bbc much now its macmaster all the way 😀👍
