Josh nice video full of information, really needed as i have liftmaster too and was wonder too if they are compatible with Meross or not.
Would be even more informative if you had shown how adopters were installed because for Liftmaster installation of adopters were main key to learn. Thanks Josh

@@JoshsSmartHome I have Liftmaster 8550C with yellow learn button. When I checked compatibility it says adapter needed as you shown in your video. But these adapters not there in the list of product on Meross website.

Do the newer, "smart" evil company garage door opener have contacts you can wire into? I used a relay switch (Shelly 1) to my old garage door's contacts. Setup the Shelly for a momentary press to activate it to mimic pressing the opener. Then bought some cheep reed switches for Open/Close detection, also wired to the Shelly.

No MyQ utilizes their technology to block tapping directly into the wired solution using their Secure 2.0 protocol. You have to use something more advanced to get past the evil garage door openers.

Did you use Home Assistant? If so how did you do all of that. I am new to home assistant and trying to find a good resource to set it up.

I did use Home Assistant. Here is my initial setup video when I transitioned from SmartThings ua-cam.com/video/ZdAufh6bZes/v-deo.html the setup of the Meross was pretty easy following their instructions and linking via the HomeKit integration. Let me know if you have any questions.

@@JoshsSmartHome okay so you went the HomeKit route, I just order a micro pod so I will have a hub. Are there decent automations you can set up like geo location to open and close when you enter and leave a certain area?

I set it up initially in Apple to get it connected to my WiFi network. Then you delete it from the Apple side and go into Home Assistant and connect it directly with the integration which simulates HomeKit. Once it’s connected, everything is local and controlled by home assistant not Apple

Yes. If you haven’t already, you first remove it from HomeKit and integrate it directly with HomeAssistant using the integration for HomeKit devices. After you do that, use your phone entering your home zone in Home Assistant to trigger the garage door to open. It all stays in Home Assistant but uses the HomeKit integration to communicate directly to the device.
