The people who injected sexuality in this case were the ones that ASKED Nathan that question. Maybe you people should also understand the stereotype of male figure skaters in the US as gays and then maybe you should also put yourselves in the shoes of a straight male figure skater who has the same right of defining himself in the sport in as much as the lgbtqs in it. What Nathan said may have come from his own experience of being stereotyped as gay or that male figure skating in the US is not as popular as female figure skating with the legacy of Michelle Kwan and other female skaters hailed for their grace on ice.

Hi. You're a big Eteri fan, right? You love the Sambo 70 team? You defend her and her students? [ Idk much on who this hot Sergei is or any real inside info.]
In a democratic country with a freedom of speech and maybe even a choice you have to always apologize and explain what you mean. Stop doing this people! Stand by what you say and do!
People are overly sensitive. I identify myself with the democratic party and am totally all for equality, feminism, and other such things, but, seriously, people are overly-sensitive in this day and age. Everything is "zomg, offensive!!!". Like, a straight guy can't even talk about his own personal experiences and issues anymore without mentioning the word "feminine" and triggering people. The overly-sensitive extremists drive me nuts.
Who cares if he doesn’t go back to that god forsaken rink? He’ll be raking up the cash by going abroad. Why play second fiddle when you can be top dog in your own rink?
I'm glad Nathan apologized cause that's the first step to growing from this and learning, but quite honestly disagree with your take. His apology addressed NOTHING in particular. He just said how he was wrong to say that. But WHY was it wrong? If you truly want to stop propagating and adhering to that mentality and patriarchal stereotypes about masculinity Vs femininity then you talk openly about it. You don't just post an apology because you don't want people to be mad at you. I have never seen so many people in FS fandom come out and speak about the issue and not just from a certain fandom that all of you are thinking about. As the world champion in FS and a representative of the sport he needs to do more, MUCH more and I hope he really shows growth in the next season.
I find it unbelievable how people are so ready to forgive Nathan Chen. Yes of course everyone deserves the chance to learn and grow from their mistakes but he apoligized a week later after the interview with a PR written apology. I'm not buying that. Straight men can be as awful as they wish and there always will be people, and sadly many women, making excuses for them.
i mean there will clearly always be debate about it at this point and i'm sure he's lost a handful of fans/support in the past couple of days that he may or may not get back, though i think it bears noting that he did apologize and explained what he really meant to say. actions will speak louder than words of course and all his prejudices obviously aren't gone over two days, but people can't demand a rightful apology from him and then give him shit for doing exactly that and taking accountability. you don't have to accept the apology if it is yours to accept or reject but many (famous) people never take accountability, and nathan did.

"It’s a wonderful sport which mixes artistry and technical ability. I wish people would stop injecting sex and politics in every topic and just allow fans to enjoy the sport, untarnished!"
The people who injected sexuality in this case were the ones that ASKED Nathan that question. He could have shut that down, but he messed up his answer (he's seemingly not particularly eloquent) and now he is admitting he messed up.
Let's disassociate power and artistry of masculinity and femininity, THEN we will be able to "enjoy the sport untarnished", just saying.
@@darkcreatureinadarkroom1617 If he had refused to answer or "shut down" the question (not everybody is great at publicly speaking especially on topics where there is never a "right" answer) that would have sparked an even worse response and a bunch of jumping to conclusions.
@@lilymarie1582 By "shut down" I meant not feeding into the interviewers' preconceptions and saying basically what Paola said in the previous video, that figure skating is a sport for everyone and what matters is your expression of your personality instead of gender and sexual orientation, etc. I'm sorry if I used the wrong words, English is not my first language. I hope I've clarified it now.
I think Nathan had nothing to apologize for. He wasn’t offensive or disrespectful, to be totally honest, I feel like soon we will be scared to say anything at all, because someone will take it a wrong way.
Why is Anna’s nickname hat girl?
Because in the podcast she and her friend were doing (she was introducing skaters) and the picture she used for Anna was her in a hat
So they started calling her that
Absurd hatred of Rozanov by this supposed “core fandom” (meaning twitter🤡) was based on two things: first, because he didn’t destroyed “evil Eteri” empire and second were ridiculous Aliona relations rumors.
That’s what the happens when one gets into tacky TSL narrative.
Give me a break, yall predicted nothing. It was just a blind hope that a nobody will beat experienced coach 🗿
Wait is he just getting hate just because there are some stupid people who ship him and aliona.?
Aren't they just coach and student.?
Cause there aren't any real evidence he has a relationship with anyone.
Wait what....aliona is 17!!

Hi. You're a big Eteri fan, right? You love the Sambo 70 team? You defend her and her students? [ Idk much on who this hot Sergei is or any real inside info.]
Sergei is working at Peak Ice Camps

Used to love him skate but not cheering for him from now on. Praising and forgiving discrimination in this sport is done by ISU already. I'm not willing to add to that.
On a side note: love the content paola thanks for introducing me into the sport in the first place 💜
Are you yourself a FS athlete?
@@thulekovish8188 how is that relevant?
Oops, never mind. You're not.
@@thulekovish8188 please don't embarrass yourself
@@baskasorumyok Nope. I just stopped reading at your "I'm not willing to add to that", and forgot about the "read more". Nothing embarrassing. Don't assume.
Nathan victimized himself, a straight man, and completely dismissed/diminished the struggles of gay people on the sport all while making misogynistic comments and people have the nerve to say he just used the wrong words to get his point across, unbelievable.
@@heartyearns3129 Reading an obviously scripted apology that did not even acknowledge his own victimization is not “taking accountability”, and I demanded nothing from him, after hearing that mess of an interview I expected nothing of him at all.
@@FanyLI I'm pretty sure op wasn't referring to *you* specifically when they said "demand a rightful apology." And as they also said, you don't have to accept it if it *is* yours to accept or reject, aka if you're not LGBTQ+ and/or a girl or woman then you don't have a say in this. Would you have rather Nathan not address it at all, then? That's so much worse and it's terrible to think that public figures should just shrug off problematic statements. And yeah it clearly was written/rehearsed beforehand but there's truly nothing wrong with him preparing to speak more clearly.
Can someone please tell what did he say? I am watching summer Olympics now and lost the plot what is happening in my beloved FS community ❤️. Thank you upfront.
