This is a very interesting chapter with a whole lot of information in it. Kathy wrote her book in such a way that you can see how Elvis interacts with her on a personal level.
I found this quote interesting, but one that I don't necessarily agree with: “Elvis was not nearly as promiscuous as the tabloids made him out to be because he was very discerning about relationships. He had to trust the woman he was with. He had to care for her and all of that took time and patience."
Look, Elvis may not have been as promiscuous as the tabloids made out, but Elvis moved "quick." He went from one relationship to the next with NO INTROSPECTION, and I cannot help but question, what was really the “depth” of his "love." As you know, there’s a big difference between “love” and being “in-love.” We say all the time that Elvis loved them all, but for me when I hear this, I’m thinking, if he loved them all, then NONE of them stood apart from the other. They were all the same in his eyes. And, isn’t that what we want? We like to think if someone is “in-love” with us, then we “stand out” or are “above” all the rest.
Elvis seemed to be up front with all of these women, so it only stands to reason that he was upfront with Prissy, as well. So far, Elvis didn't teach Kathy his "special" language, but it's only been a few months.

Can't get enough of you reading this book for us Joe! Thank you again. I never knew this story from Kathy before. It must have been hard for her to have to tour and see him with other women after they obviously stopped being together. Yet, their friendship thrived and he always needed her. These stories are so beautiful and sad too. I wish the public would listen to this and realize that Elvis wasn't the person they wrongly made him out to be. He wasn't perfect, but his heart was as big as the ocean. Enjoy the rest of your vacation and I love the ocean view room! Appreciate you sharing this.

This is great of you to read on your balcony, and the sound was good. I think about Kathy making the mistake of becoming suddenly conscious of her guilt about their relationship, but it's a shame she did that because we all know Elvis limited his relationships from 3 to 5 years if you were lucky. Since she was already in the relationship that wouldn't change anything to make that declaration. Wow, that gave him the opening of saying maybe we should call it quits if this worries you and makes you feel guilty, It is best that we stop. If you are in love with him, how did that happen? Anyway, just thinking from my opinion. Ha, he would have needed a crow bar to get away from me. thanks Joe, sorry just wishing.🥰😅😁😄

Yep. Linda told that Elvis said " Priss was not an affectionate person and that's something you cant teach a person" She was strict non spontaneous person with no spiritual desire that burned his books and had zero musical skills. A complete trophy show piece consumed with fancy clothing and make-up to perfection that he took out when needed a date and then put back in a box. Priss was not anyone Elvis could read to or have deep conversations with. Priss herself said the communication was awful not realizing that implication and took back her rape story too. Priss carved out a legend of herself that's myth more then truth. Elvis is a fun hobby and any good or bad gossip keeps Elvis in the loop.

There was a very funny comedian from Liverpool England, he used to hang around with my uncles before he was famous, and he was a huge Elvis fan. He did some amazing impersonations of Elvis. He even sang with the Jordanaires. When he passed a few years ago, his coffin had the words. 'Return to Sender' inscribed on it. His name was Freddy Starr and you can find him on UA-cam.

Do you follow Billy and Jo Smith on EFM, Elvis Fans Matter? Lots of good insight into Elvis, the person. Good for newcomers to Elvis.
The story of him and his flashlight cracks me up!
Scatter got out in the California home, went to the neighbors house and crashed their party. Billy talks of that episode, as well.
Billy also knows where Garon is buried. It is a mystery others have tried to figure out.

I have never understood, that it was ok for a guy to not be a virgin, but
shameful if a woman was not? There is a huge difference between giving yourself
    when you love someone.
Elvis loved easily and the women he slept with him,
knew the ending from the beginning.

Elvis had a foot fetish? That's funny, and cute. In all seriousness though. I think Elvis should not have got married until he was much older and worn out. Ha. He seemed to love every woman he was with, and treat them well but he loved women, full stop. I know he shared a special kind of love with Ann-Margaret, but I don't think it would have worked out in the end unless she agreed to turn a blind eye, and she was far too fiery, rightly, to agree to that.

@@EagleArrow Correct. Yes, he was with women in Vegas, but Prissy's first affair with Steve Peck, her dance instructor, was only about 6-8 weeks (approx. 3/68) after giving birth. Elvis was aware of the affair and I think that this is why he didn't want to touch her any more. Also, she brought him to the '68 Comeback Special and, as I am told, sat on the top row at the back. I also read that Elvis asked them to leave the venue.

As much as Elvis was adored by his fans and inclined to dismiss his indiscretions the fact is he was an adulterer. He could not promise or commit to Cathy and therefore he knew he would eventually leave her and find another willing woman to go to bed with him. We would usually call a woman behaving in such a way a whore. In addition, he took something precious from Cathy - her virginity! Something precious to give to her eventual husband. In short, every time Elvis did this with other woman he expressed his selfishness. In addition he expressed hypocrisy since he wanted to keep Pricilla as a virgin until they married. I say this as a huge Elvis fan. His promiscuity is a big disappointment for me.

Of course Kathy knew Elvis' mother was Gladys. The whole world knew his mother's name.

I’m not sure if she would’ve known that in 1971? We know it because it’s been all over the Internet all of our lives but back then, especially since she wasn’t an Elvis fan growing up it’s quite possible she didn’t know.

@@RareElvisPhotos Well my auntie (a massive Elvis fan) in England told me that opinion changed about Elvis, when they found out how much he loved his mother. Everyone in England knew about Gladys just before/after she passed. Kathy had to have known.

@@underthesearoses8619 I was an Elvis fan in the sixties, and I never heard it. The news was way different back then. We didn't know everything about everyone. I barely knew he was married.

She wasn't an Elvis fan until she started working for him! She was in the opera world and wouldn't have known! 😂

OMG The impersonation while reading is too much. Is the narrator trying to impress me? He isn’t. In fact it’s laughable. Just read like normal 🙄🙄

Please! sharing intimate events is sheer smut. Did you tell him whilst sharing his sheets that you would be writing about a visit to his bed. Disgusting especially when he has gone and cannot give his side.

His promiscuity doesn’t bother me so much. What bothers me is Prissy’s story that she was having sex with another teenage girl while Elvis watched. 😢
