Thanks, so far this is the most helpful video I've seen on how to transfer from an unitank to a keg. I'll be doing it for the first time in a few days, and I'll probably be consulting this video while I'm doing it!

My first beer is in the uni-tank, did some searching on how to keg when carbonated and you came up again. Thanks for the efforts man, very helpful since I have the same equipment as you. SS Brewtech should pay you something.

Excellent explanation and sweet setup. I'm guessing you're in WA if you visit Great Notion?

Great info here. I just started using a 1/2 bbl keg as a brite tank and had lots of foam issues when I filled my first two kegs due to pressure differences.
You mentioned don’t let the fermenter overpressurize for safety concerns. Can’t you just set the regulator on the co2 tank to your desired head pressure (10psi?)

Thanks, sorry for the terrible audio! Hopefully the info here helped with your foaming issue. You can do that as well to keep a set pressure for sure!

You can also use a blow off tube instead of the spending valve and transfer at 5#

Being that the beer is carbonated, I like to keep it at the higher PSI, also having pressure on the vessel you’re transferring into allows for slower flow (because of the PSI in there) that leaving it wide open with a blow off tube.
That would cause a lot of foaming, unless you did drop the fermenter PSI down like you said.

hey! can you connect a beer gun or the "new" Duofiller Automatic can filler to a uni tank and fill cans directly from a tank? Love your videos, i'm a subscriber!
    Cheers from Slovenia!

@3:49 I see a grey disconnect on each keg post... What is this sorcery? Solid tips on purging the kegs and lines of oxygen. Have you thought of using fermentation CO2 to push StarSan out of each keg?

    • @HopKillerBrewery
      @HopKillerBrewery  4 роки тому

      Haha, it’s dark magic!
From my understanding when using fermentation CO2 to purge kegs, the receiving keg must also have a vent tube into sanitize to allow free flow of the off-gassing. I don’t know how you would capture CO2 under pressure, if you find out I would love to hear how!

@@HopKillerBrewery Do you use special keg posts that accept both black and grey disconnects? It looks super convenient whatever you're doing!
Here's what I meant about using the fermenting CO2... Attach your conical's blow off cane to the gas in of your keg during fermentation and the liquid out of the keg to gas in of another keg, etc. etc. The CO2 coming out of your blow off cane would push the StarSan in the first keg into the next keg, theoretically leaving only CO2 in the first keg. I've done this a couple of times and have no way to quantify O2 levels but it seems to work well. You just need to make sure you don't get a siphon going...

Honestly, I didn’t even notice it was two grey post until you pointed it out. It’s nothing special I guess I just forced it down on the “out” portion of the keg haha.

Why not rack from the bottom port?

That’s where the yeast and trub is if you don’t dump it before transferring to keg. So you’ll end up with stuff in your keg you don’t want.

wtf mate!!! don't put any liquid in your co2 mesurment device!!!!!
