Nihon Goshin Aikido actually includes kicks. They even test for your kicking ability in each belt test.

One of my teachers was a bb in Nihon Goshin. Similar to Aikido.

Should give this one the title "Get Your Kicks (In)" .. 😀 But seriously, what should you do should your attacker happen to catch/trap one of your "distraction" kicks? What would be the Aikidoflow technique to get out of that pickle? KEEP GROWING, AIKIDOFLOWERS!

You guys always make me smile haha! Love your instructions and adapt the traditional form to have more opportunities when being attacked.

Kissomaru used to talk about how his dad used kicks "all the time" but somehow it's dissapeared from the art, along with many other "practical" aspect. sad really. When I started in the early 70's, techniques like aihanmi nikyo we taught with a kick to break kuzushi! That was a white belt drill

Without training you are reacting from instincts. We need training to preserve mental clarity and accuracy in the fight.

"Kicking!?" What would Morihei think?! (LOL) If Segal can get away with it, why not? Good tips. Thanks.

Will you guys ever get into protective gear in a gym and do some real sparring?

Misdirection, very common ploy in sports,my all time favorite basketball player Larry Bird used this strategy all the time with incredible success...🎉🎉🎉

I disagree kicks are important tools for both attacking and de fending, even if is only a hand full of kicks

It's funny to see how Aikido is understood as a bunch of movements. Unbelievable, but funny.

There are a ton of reasons as well as a lot of misunderstanding of Aikido. If you ask your question in a less antagonistic way, you might find people who'd love to talk to you about it. Be curious, not judgemental.
