Composition Media MIB1 was factory fitted in the car. After installation of Discover Pro MIB2 navigation system with App-Connect connectivity (AndroidAuto/Apple CarPlay/MirrorLink) many settings under Car Settings were disabled. Also rear view camera was not working and there was no navigation display in MFD and the sound was not working. After suitable coding all settings under Car Settings were activated, sound and rear view camera were working and navigation display was enabled in MFD.
For proper use of App-Connect also USB connector had to be changed.

V avtomobilu je bil tovarniško vgrajen Composition Media MIB1 multimedijski sistem. Po vgradnji Discover Pro MIB2 navigacijskega sistema z App-Connect povezljivostjo (AndroidAuto/Apple CarPlay/MirrorLink) zvok ni deloval, precej menijev za nastavljanje avtomobila ni bilo aktivnih, ravno tako tudi ni delovala vzvratna kamera in navigacijski prikaz na MFD zaslonu.
Z dodatnim programiranjem se je vključil prikaz navigacije na MFD zaslonu in delovanje menijev v nastavitvah avtomobila, vključno z delovanjem zvoka in vzvratne kamere.
Za ustrezno delovanje App-Connect povezljivosti je bilo potrebno zamenjati tudi USB priključek v pepelniku.

(instabil, absturzreich, pixelig, schlechter Klang, kein Mirror Link/App
connect) hat? VW sagt nein. Sie wollen mir das Gerät nicht
freischalten d.h. es wäre wohl tatsächlich nur das Radio dann zu
benutzen - Navi ist gesperrt bzw. navigiert nur kurz, wenn der Tank leer
ist. Lohnt so eine Umrüstung und bringt sie auch einen besseren Klang,
oder sollte man gleich zu einem Alpine Style Golf 7 Markenradio greifen?

I have a 2015 golf tsi. It doesn't have a backup camera or anything special. I want to get apple CarPlay for it. Will this option work? I like how you still keep the buttons on the side and the volume knobs. Other options don't have this and i like how it looks OEM.

I have MIB2 Discover Pro and my light bars and menus are RED, despite the fact that it is a Golf R. Startup screen I know how to change, but that one is correct. You need to delete trouble code on airbag module with diagnostic equipment.
Pozdrav, imam golf 7 2015.god(proizveden krajem oktobra) i Discover Media Pro u kome se nalazi opcija App Connect ali na VW(We Connect) stranici preko VIN broja šasije mi ne nudi kupovinu istog nego samo neki Basic paket usuga. Da li je moguće aktivirati App Connect na mom uređaju jer bih voleo da koristim Android Auto i Google maps? Hvala.

Yes, you need a GPS antenna, but it does not need to be mounted on the roof.

Sorry, we do not have experience with installation of newer multimedia systems in to old platform cars.

Software modifications included adding factory fitted settings that were not available and disabling all settings that were enabled on Discover Pro, but not fitted to the car. The list is quite long.
Additionally Off-road display and VideoInMotion function were enabled.
And off course coding the unit so that rear camera, sound, etc. worked...
You can do this with diagnostic software of your choice, we usually use VCDS.
Do you have a link wher you get a list for coding?
How did you enable sat nav? Isn't it normally locked when you upgrade from composition media to discover pro?
Yes, you have to remove CP and activate maps.
How this new unit was been programm in the car? Does vcds do it also sir? Or the vcds do coding only?

I've a few questions. My USB port is the older one so I've to reroute the cables to the back of the MIB2 unit. I wonder if this would prove difficult?
Also, when you changed the screen, did you also have to change the fascia for the bigger screen or will the old fascia fit it also?

Jaz imam nek Mib2 standard od Delphija brez navigacije, brez DAB, brez vzratne kamere, brez možnosti aktivacije CarPlay (niti s Swop kodo nemorem dodat ker sploh v meniju ni)
Pa me zanima če ima sploh anteno za DAB, ali je to softwersko zaklenjeno, ker Tuareg ki ima MMI3G+ in je iz Nemčije pa je starejši pa ima DAB in TV, a Golf Sports R-Line iz 2016 pa nima DAB
Neka SWaP koda za DAB sicr obstaja:
00060F00 samo zdej nevem a to aktivira DAB (ker možnost za aktiviraš ma tud VCDS), ali kej doda DAB načinu?
A kaj veste, a če bi hotel poganjati MMI3G+ na mizi, a rabim gateway iz tistega obdobja, sli lahko novejšega gor priklopim?
Nimajo vsi radiji podpore za DAB in potem tudi DAB antena ni vgrajena.

There are two pins, one at the top and the second one on the bottom. You need to raise both of them and than USB drops out.

Thank you. It should be possible, but sadly I cannot recommend any shop for the retrofit. Not because they are bad, but I do not have that info. Hopefully you will find the shop to do the retrofit.
The dealership quoted me $3,000 dollars to do the job. With parts and labor. They give you new modules, wiring, new display unit and camera (if you don't already have one). They also have to code everything in order for these components to work. It's insane.

It's more than just software update. You have to buy new modules, wiring and a new display unit. You also have coding in order for these components to work. The dealership quoted me $3,000 dollars to do the job.

Car-Net has to be registered online to the car VIN nr. so I am quite sure that it will not work, but we have to do some further testing.
What results of your test? Is it possible to activate at least "Traffic Online"?

Boas, também gostava de fazer, por acaso já tenho Discover pro com dynaudio e voice command de origem penso que só preciso do headunit MIB 2 mas não é assim tão simples tem se que desativar o component protection primeiro e ter a certeza que o radio tem tudo o que o meu carro tem de origem se não corro o risco de algumas coisas não darem e depois ir á VW ativar algumas coisas como o APP connect e tens que pagar pela chave, eu li isto num forum... tudo fica um bocado caro bahhh

Yes, without a problem. Though, if you would like to have App-Connect active then also USB connector has to be changed.

If I buy a MIB2 kit with head unit and controller off eBay can a VW dealer be able to program/setup to work on my USA 2015 Golf 7 that has MIB1 with SATNAV. I Don't want to spend $$$-$$$$ for "paperweight" if his is not the CASE. THIS IS BLACK BOX TO ME. I am not in Europe anymore so most help is EU.
I am 95% confident they will not be able to program it.
