When Alex and Supergirl are in Red Daughter's loft and Alex is panicking about Kara missing Melissa's acting is top notch at that moment. She can't tell her what's really happening, she sees her sister in pain, and all she wants to do is comfort her. The eyes say it all without words. Chyler does a really good job at showing sudden realization when Supergirl comforts her, like a light bulb went off with a memory. Since the memory wipe Alex has been slowly growing closer to Supergirl, she starts becoming protective of her, compassionate, and even concerned with how she heals. She starts caring about Supergirl in ways she used to even before her memories returned. So the sudden change in Supergirls behavior starts triggering her brain. All the sudden Supergirl is being overprotective, unwilling to tell Alex why there is danger, and then becomes near to tears as Alex discusses her sister Kara. You can see in Alex's eyes all these things seem so out of character for Supergirl and it has her thinking, and then the hand touch happens. Alex may not know who Supergirl is but she does know her sisters touch and that touch set off bells on Alex's brain. Supergirl being so compassionate and sincerely crying is why Alex instantly followed her to the fight, her instincts told her Supergirl was risking herself to keep the Danvers safe.
I’m a little behind (years behind) but I just started to watch the show during the pandemic (last year) and I just LOVE their sisterhood. And, both actresses are phenomenal. Thanks for the writers for the actresses performances and the cinematography. I’m in love 🥰 and feels great
*I just wanted to share this w/ppl that love the DanversSisters.* 💕😊 *The Supergirl TV Show needs the DanversSisters bc they truly are the heart of the Show.* *Tyvm Sarah for a beautiful edit that shows how much you love them, too!* 💓🤗 *Merçi!* *LoveAlways* 💙 *KareBear*
Imagine if the "forget operation" goes wrong, so that Alex remembers she loves Kara, remembers also that Kara's "Supergirl" but she forgets that Kara was adopted by her mom, thus making them stepsisters, so she falls in love with her, in a disaster.
While I felt like the show dragged out the memory wipe a few episodes to long I will say that Alex had shifted her perspective closer to the Alex we knew even before getting her memories back. In 4x14 when Supergirl was a part of the non violent March, the way Alex looked at her was similar to how she looked at Kara. She was also starting to become protective of Supergirl. She was afraid of leaving her alone to deal with things, she lied multiple times to her bosses, and risked her own life to protect Supergirl. I felt like the show could have shown Alex starting to remember a tad sooner, but the scene of her getting her memories back because Kara was in danger was one of the best scenes of the entire show
You delete a memory that's precise you may well cause all manner of chaos in the mind that forgot that critical memory- and in the lives of those that surround them.
My point is that you edit someone's memories: you're basically altering the content of their *soul* in the end-run; that's got to be handled with the greatest of care; hypnosis can be used for really weirdly criminal antics, especially involving consent in ways that're truly nightmare material akin to Hell itself in terms of messed-up and vile pranks!
The interest in the mechanics of this kind of memory erasure going wrong like previously mentioned really is a statement of the need to be precise- the thinking is as fanfic writers are wont to do: thinking "What can go wrong?" and then making it go wrong as catastropically as possible as quickly as possible- a kind of social commentary (not to be confused with *socialist* commentary, a totally different concept altogether that's better left dead in the annals of history, believe you me!) and cautionary tale. And beseeching *magical* favors? that's the recipe for the stupidest of blunders imaginable!
