So as a Native tradition we scorch corn. Then we cut it off and dry the kernals. I used hickory to smoke it really good this year. Then I looked at all those cobs and decided to cover them with water in my giant roaster and cooked on a low temp in the oven all night long. Strained and canned smokey sweet corn broth! Oh my! It is amazing! You should try it! I can send pictures if you need some!!! Lol loved this!!
Mr. Rollins, I want to tell you that I recently lost my father in a house fire and your videos bring me a lot of comfort as you remind me so much of him. I've been watching for a long time but I don't write much but I wanted to let you know that your videos are more than instructional to me. Thank you from west Texas, sir and God bless....
Thanks Kent, we will try some corn cobs soon maybe on thick cut pork loin chops. Feed your pups hug your bride and thanks for caring for veterans and promoting peace and good will. Thanks again Dan Fields
It doesn't matter if you just left the golden corral or the western sizzlin buffet, Cowboy Kent cooking will always make you hungry! Would love to try some! GOD bless you brother, you're living right!
My favorite way to cook corn on the cob is on the grill in the husk. Soak them submerged for about 30 minutes than throw the whole thing husk silk and all. It takes about another 30 minutes over coals or gas flame to cook. It basically steams in its own juices and really concentrates the sugars in the corn. Don't worry about the silk; it comes off easier after you grill it than if you shucked it first. Another plus is they will stay warm longer in the husk if you don't eat them right away.
Agreed. I actually tried to cook corn the old way wrapping it in aluminum foil the other day and afterwards, said "Never Again". The shuck method of cooking actually gives it a much sweeter taste.
@@WYO_Cowboy_Joe Heck yeah, another convert! You can do it in the coals of a campfire too. It does kind of stink when you’re grilling it but that’s just what scorched husks smell like. The corn is fine.
Corn ribs. A fad I can finally get behind and support! The cowboy obviously has one of the best recipes I’ve seen! I’ll be honest though. I now live in a small town with many farm stands. One has the best darn corn I’ve ever had. So this summer I’ve been eating it just grilled. No seasoning at all! Just straight up delicious! I’ll be using this recipe on the off season! Great work sir!
I hadn't heard of corn ribs. I'll give 'em a try sometime soon. Thanks for this. l also have the tune "Popcorn" in my ear now ... thanks for that too! The ribs look superb!
The husk also gives a great smoke flavor, we peel them back and take the silk out then pull the husk back up and put them on the grill it adds an amazing flavor
It sounds weird but it looks delicious "Corn Ribs"😊. I'm 55 yrs old and this is the first time I've heard of cooking with corn cob. Corn is my favorite veg.❤❤
What a way to eat supper tonight. Watching Kent cook while I'm chowing down an onion burger that I covered with fire roasted chilies out of my garden. It don't get much better than that.
What an amazing grilling never heard or seen this before!! Looks plum larrupin like festus used to say!!! Im feeling a lot better and you both made it much better for me!!!! Thanks Kent and Shannon for all you both do!!! GOD BLESS YOU BOTH AND YOUR CRITTERS HAVE A GREAT LABOR DAY WEEKEND AND BE SAFE!!!!🙏🙏
Hey Kent recently started watching your videos and I have to say thank you. so I tried your crispy chicken sandwich recipe WOW didn’t do sandwiches made fried chicken dinner using recipe came out delicious and crispy family loved it and have already asked for it again. Going to try your homemade chorizo next. Again thank you we are a doggie family 6 pups altogether. Love your patriotism and your sense of humor 😂😂
Thanks for sharing this with us Kent and Shannon. This was a first on the BBQ-ed Corn Ribs. Had corn prepared po-folk style in a big old cast iron skillet fried up field corn lots of times, always loved corn on the cob and corn prepared any way folks served it. Now I got something new to try. Fred.
Interesting twist with the corn cobs. Smoked corn looks good, probably sweeter than the field corn along the highway of Central or South America. The pups clean the bowls so Shannon doesn't have to wash'em.
Good evening Kent. I had the pleasure of meeting you today at the Rio Grande Winery with my mom. It was amazing to talk with you and get to try your cobbler. God bless you and safe travels on the rest of your book tour.
Something to enjoy.. we just had a thick cottage style almost texas toas bread to put onion red pepper flake cheese and uncured bacon on "On a hot summers night you can hear the corn grow, popping reaching up"
Mom was from Minn. 11 miles east of S.D. border, they would not pick the corn until the water was boiling. also Grandparents had a bucket full of corn cobs to heat the kitchen stove with instead of wood.
Kent: This a TRUE corn story that happened the other day down here in Ross County, Ohio were fields of 7-8 foot tall corn run out to the horizon. The temp was 98 degrees and an old farmer with two mules was plowing a field to plant turnips between two big fields of popcorn. Well, it got so hot that all the rows of popcorn started poppin', the two mules thought it was snow, and both froze to death right then and there. Again, a true story. I never lie...
sorry to say , great show but, we in Canada have already ready to cook ''Smokin’ Stampede Corn Ribs. great tips and thanks for great recipes over the years.
Well, learned a great new technique, I had not heard of this before and sure to try it bc we love corn on the cob, also really like the sauces you created for the corn ribs. I had used dried cobs for the fire before, Dad used them for burgers on the grill. Thanks to you both for another great video.
We've done the corn ribs not long ago and Delicious! About 5 years ago we did a corn cob smoked brisket. Also delicious! Have a great Labor Day weekend! Chef John & Rebecca
Kent, being from Kentucky we waste nothing, these days we we use a bundt cake pan to trim corn, stand up on center post & trim off kernels, use top/dull edge of knife to rake out corn milk for cream corn, boil cleaned cobs & reduce for corn oil & water will evaporate leaving oil to fry with, or boil cleaned cobs & add non flavored pectin with sugar to make corn jelly by putting in fridge overnight, left over cob is sun dried when we were young with an outhouse & you know what for, lol , waste nothing
This is a new one to this old MO guy. I'm sure you know of Kerrington's of Vermont. They smoke all of the hams and bacon with corn cobs. I don't think it's better than hickory, but that's just my taste.
Hey Kent & Shan we've ben wanting to try this for awhile. Now I have an idea on how to make it. That corn looks so good! We have your rib rub and love it. We are going to order the original as well. The ribs look great ans we will be saving our corn cobs. Cool weather and rain coming next week, God bless.
“Drier than a popcorn fart in a whirlwind.” Quote of the day! 👍

The whirlwind part is new to me but the rest is a classic
Yup - the goat takes it for me. 😅😅 I use drier that a popcorn fart ALL the time. (AZ)

One suggestion when splitting the corn with the knife: Rest the bottom of the cob on a towel so it won’t slip!
ONE OF YOUR BEST VID'S In my opinion... Love the pups... 'specially toothless Maj.❤ & of course The Beag. But they all have such personality.🤠
They are the real stars

Mexican corn is roasted ans served with mayonaise, chile, salt, lime, and cotija cheese..very common here in Tx
I have smelled an entire oak tree trunk boiled in water before being made into veneer. It has a wonderful chocolate scent.
I take a helping, or three! Thank you, Shan & Kent! Love to the Duker!!

I put WD-40 on my pancake griddle & olive oil on my garage door tracks. That's how we roll in NY 😀

When I was a kid we used to use corn cobs fires to cook trout. It was pretty good it added a sweet nuttiness to the trout.

Chef Rollins, corn cobs hold a lot of moisture. I wonder if you didn’t dry the cobs out so much, if that would be worth trying?!? 💕🙏🙏
Might last a little longer in the smoker
Rain makes corn, corn makes whiskey! 🇺🇸

Sounds great!
Interesting,I remember lighting the wood stove with corn cobs and smelling it in the house,it's definitely different.
