    Whenever I see Dave alone in a video of TTT I feel low-key glad that it doesn’t have to fall on Jazza’s shoulders to be in every video. In a very good way, this channel doesn’t feel like Jazza’s second channel but rather another channel, of which Jazza makes part of. Keep up the good work.

    Tip for Dave and anyone else: When using pigments on the ground features, do this after everything else is painted. This way when you do apply the pigments if small amounts get on the lower parts of the figure, then it simply helps to make them look like they apart of the diorama they are a part of.
    My comment aside, great work!

    The crackle medium needed to be applied much thicker. The thicker it goes on, the better the cracks. Too thin and it will barely crack at all.

      Also going over the surface with pva glue first helps produce bigger cracks too.

    Big fan of Vallejo here too and I used to mix my own dark tones for much the same reason, however I discovered a new (?) product of theirs last week called "Game Extra Opaque: Heavy Charcoal" which is a much darker grey/black than they usually do and its got super coverage due to what I suspect is a lot more pigment in it than normal. Thins down great and I have been using it a ton.
    The same extra opaque range has other colours like Blackgreen, Blue, Brown, Green, Grey, Ochre, Red, Sienna, Violet etc. Tempted to pick up the whole lot tbh.

    For future reference, the "PS" in "XPS foam" stands for polystyrene. That said, the kind you were talking about is EPS, it's the Styrofoam that is usually used in packaging and whatnot.

    You get bigger cracks using thicker layers of crackle medium. Also speeding up the dry time will create bigger cracks eg with a hair dryer. But don’t go overboard cos it’ll look too much or just flake off but a nice balance works really well. I did this for lava based on my salamanders army

    Oh no no no Dave the print is not supposed to look like that :S
    Either the FEP has to be oiled with PTFE oil to avoid stickage, the Z screw needs lubrication or your lift height is too low/FEP not tight enough. Or maybe layer height was too large? Don't settle for mediocrity, tune in those settings!

    • @narratordave7831
      @narratordave7831 3 роки тому

      Oh 60000% - This was literally the very first print on a newly set up printer - I have a Phrozen Sonic Mini at home that i've dialed in tight. New resin as well, the skin one. I used settings that others had suggested and they were terrible. I actually think the cure time was way too high per layer

    • @AKKK1182
      @AKKK1182 3 роки тому

      @@narratordave7831 Having a bad print can ruin anyone's day so it's always sad to witness.
      I learned the hard way to always run the exposure test first. Anycubic comes with test files that run different exposure times across the screen, not sure if there's a similar thing for Phrozen or you have to do it one by one. On a mono printer the test takes almost no time either.
      Too high cure times would possibly cause the weird layer line effect and maybe make it stick to the FEP more.

    • @AKKK1182
      @AKKK1182 3 роки тому

      @@narratordave7831 Oh another thing about the suggested settings, always make sure if the suggested exposure times are for regular or mono screens. As mono screens are several times faster, it can screw your prints up either way.
