    Thank you for all your recipes. My mom and Aunties always made this at Christmas. However, my generation have all become to Americanize. With your recipes, detail instructions and hands on video I am able to cook our amazing Trinidad cuisine. I started with saltfish n bake and now all types of curries and stews.

    At first I want to clear that sorrel and hibiscus are not the same. In Bangladesh it's popular too, it called chukai or meshot. My mother used to make jam with sorrel. In the summer she used to cook it. She never added sugar(she added salt and some other spices). Because it tastes sour, so a very refreshing drink for the hot weather.

    Where in Queens did your mother find the fresh hibiscus leaves? The color of the fresh hibiscus leaves is so much more vibrant and pretty! Happy New Year!

    Hello, do you let the mixture sit over night room temperature or do you refrigerate?

    You can use the squeesed out flesh as a meat substitute for meat in vegan dishes. They do it in mexico.

    Much easier than my previous recipe. It was just toooo much. Will try it. I think I heard you say brown sugar. I'm thinking, turbinado/sugar in the raw, correct? Some Americans will think you mean the brown sugar we use for baking. Which one are you using?

    • @CookingWithRia
      @CookingWithRia  Рік тому

      Turbinado-raw brown sugar. There may be a link to the sugar I use under the recipe on the blog. Thanks.
