Mate I don’t even play guitar anymore and this was still a really enjoyable watch. You explain stuff really well and your videos are really well made, thought out and paced/ structured. Well done man 👍
Quite a lot of what you’ve said here though, particularly with trying to replicate specific sounds/ tones and the way that mixing, as well as the speakers/ headphones you’re listening to the music through alter the sound is also applicable to electronic music!

And yes it’s all important that I know where things sit in mixes etc. For instance electronic samples and synths etc and heavy guitars are not happy bed mates at all so you really have to be willing to alter your guitar tone to something you may not expect for everything to work together if you’re going to use them.
i've been searching for hours for a bullet like sound with a multi effects system. not even close.. but this video made it clear that a stand alone tone is not the same then what you hear in a mix.. this made me a little bit less worried about it. thank you!
The way I get the tone is as follows and it's pretty close. Peavey 6505 - Mesa 4x12 - TS-9 - NS-2 - Jackson king V EMG 81 settings: Gain: 4 Bass: 6 Mid: 4 High: 5 Resonance: 6 Bass: 6 As far as just plugging in and chugging, this tone came extremely close for me
But that's just for playing around the house or along with the track. If I was to try and mic up and record, I'm sure the sound would be far different. All the magic comes from the mixing in studio. Saw an interview with robb Flynn where he said even he couldn't recreate the burn my eyes tone.
I'm a little disappointed that it turned out like this. Because I already knew these things. I was hoping for some interesting trick that I didn't already know about. But yea dude, I completely agree. I've done studio work before and this is spot on!
Also I think in my Opinion the Presence and Renaissance can actually Define the Tonality on an Heavy Gain Tube Amps as for SolidState which has Working Options look out for a HUE Effect Guitar Amplifier they don't worry about much dial in tone regardless it's going to sound raunchy the more volume it goes
Very interesting video. I'm not super picky with guitar tone as long as I have a modern metalcore sound. As you mentioned, I think it then comes more so down to playing style, mixing, and guitar harmonies and double tracking. Having a good tone is important but the nuances are what truly impacts the perception of a good tone. There's no real formula to sounding like a band or musician and it comes down to what works best for the specific player. Thanks for all your hard work.
Amazing video, makes me wonder- can you learn, practice and play using programs mostly as digital amps? I'm moving across the pond next year so I'm unfortunately selling all my gear (Which I wasn't too happy with anyway..) and been looking at affordable setups to get once I'm there, I wonder if I can get away with a guitar, a cable/adapter and play using programs (kind of like Rocksmith works (?) but with bias effects?) or is it all just post-processing
Thanks I’m glad you enjoyed this! Yes you can get away with practicing using pluggins etc in fact that’s what I did for a long time myself until I needed gear to play shows/rehearse with. Probably going to bring my Audio setup (Audient iD4 and my DT880's) get a copy of Cubase from my old buddy, and look for a good sale on the Bias FX2 elite package, still a lot cheaper than even a mediocre amp without any pedals etc. this was exactly what I needed. You're the best and keep it up man! 💜
@@Dyna1One no worries - glad I could help! Just one other thing too, you can use Bias Fx without having to have in Cubase or whatever DAW you use. The standalone desktop version works perfectly for practicing on its own
Did you try out any new guitars or amps on Scream Aim Fire? We used a Bogner on this album, which is pretty cool. We used a Bogner on one side of the rhythm guitars, and that worked out well. We used a different guitar, too. I think the main guitar was an ESP Eclipse during The Poison, but this time around was a Gibson Les Paul Raw Power with EMGs. That was like the main tracking guitar. I did all my solos on that, too, because we couldn't find another guitar to beat that tone. You can thank me later 😂😂😂
That’s mad how when the guitar tone isn’t in the mix it doesn’t sound right, and then when it’s next to the mix it sounds almost spot on!

No worries! I use all kemper profiles now and that gets me pretty close after some eq’ing etc
