- As a Christmas present to all of our viewers, we present to you the Pere Marquette 1225, the real world prototype for the Polar Express engine from the popular movie "The Polar Express".
In this video we see the famed 2-8-4 Lima built Berkshire operating excursions to Alma Michigan during the 2014 Train Expo Event at the Steam Railroading Institute in Owosso Michigan.

Thank you for this. My grandfather worked on this engine and the cars it used to pull when it was on the Pere Marquette in Flint when we as the Lead Car Inspector, a job he held for more than 40 years.

Actually it's off of Strasburg #611.
Strasburg doesn’t own 611. The whistle is privately owned.

I know that the whistle #1225 is wearing in this video is either #611's whistle or a replica of her whistle, and I think she wears it very nicely. Is her normal whistle a Nathan 5 chime? If it isn't, what is her normal whistle?
I've heard the 1225's whistle is cracked, but it was either a Nathan 5 chime or a Nathan 6 chime. And honestly, I don't think they should fix the 1225's whistle because it sounds great the way it is.
When I was visiting Michigan to go to Owosso and see Pere Marquette 1225 and ride it, a female worker told me that its the real whistle of N&W 611!
Well the 611 sounds like 3 octaves deeper so I don't think to that's it. It really does just sound like a Lima 5 chime with cracks in her smaller "valves" I guess...

Think it’s a replica IIRC it’s the same one IIRC that Graham county 1925 used in her final years of operation 05
