Them pausing the game to give guys baseballs after milestones is a beautiful part of baseball that rarely gets romanticized and I think it should be more.
Not saying it isn't great but pretty much happens in every sport just that the pauses happen after the milestones naturally. Like in Hockey when I guy scores his first goal or gets his first assist they get the puck out of the net and do the same thing with a piece of tape to record it and give to the player. Same with football when you score your first TD. It's just you always get a pause in the action anyways after a goal in hockey or a TD in football. Only major sport I would imagine none of that happens in is NBA seeing how they play with the same ball the entire game. I mean maybe one team gets to keep said ball after the game if someone scored their first bucket or reached some sort of career milestone but have never heard of that or looked into it.

what are you talking about? this happens virtually every first major league hit. you're not going to find many first major league hits out of chance - you have to look for it or get lucky someone like jomboy gives it coverage.
That's actually the "authenticator" that took the ball at 1:19. I worked security for a couple years in the dugout. In our stadium the authenticator sat next to the dugout and would put that MLB sticker on the ball. Authenticating what happened with said ball or bat.
That makes more sense... so they can sell it later and have the provenance..
@@chuckdeuces911 Correct. Some of the balls go to the teams charities and they sell them through there as well. Half the players just scribble a line so you can't tell who signed what. That sticker you can go on the MLB website and they have a "lookup" page so you can type the number in and figure out who signed it and when. Or if the ball was a specific home run or something like that.

These breakdowns really are like the Concorde of sports entertainment, and media in general. It gets you there in half the time, all in complete luxury.
Alas, since I watch them on my phone, the window is a bit small compared to other planes like the economical and robust 737 computer or the Queen of the Skies, broadcast TV. Sure, they shut down the 747 production line, but it should still be flying for another 40 years or so, living on with carrying the cargo of live sports content.

I wish I could share this video with my dad. This is the kind of thing that made him grin and laugh the most, and what made him compelled to get us to games over the years. In his world, locker room etiquette was a moral code to live by, and top among those was dealing with conflict (hu)man to (hu)man. Splashed with the dietary humor, I know this would have got him going 😂🤣😭
Clearly it was the shift that bothered him. Micromanagement feels like a case of managers trying to justify their existence a little too much at times.
Always thought they usually leave pitchers alone to avoid getting in their head. Surprised to see a coach put words in his mouth over some body language. If anything, go to him and say, that's on me or something to calm them down.
Who knows though, maybe they think he pitches better pissed off.
I think the shift bothered him but he decided not to bring it up with the 3rd base coach and just pretend like he was mad at himself - which he prob was but not the biggest issue
Managers are puppets those decisions come from the analytics department who pre-map games. Their existence is to be therapists for players and answer to the media. Hopefully one day fans understand who really calls the shots.
Yep I agree. That shift seems to screw up everything a lot especially with runners on base. Too many hands in the pot of mlb trying to justify their jobs and show everyone how smart and clever they are.

Wow, how time flies. My brother and I played Clemens’ team from Texas in Cooperstown DreamsPark 2009. I hit a homer off of them and my brother picked Kody off on the mound. Roger was awesome after the game, talking ball and signing endless game balls. We’ll never forget the compliment he gave us that day, “You guys play good ball”, something to that effect.
We must have just missed you guys we were there that same year, I think in July. CBS Bears from Florida won it, the coach had a trophy as tall as he was and talking to him he said he went 9 deep in his pitchers which is what did it 😀

This was about the ball getting through the shift. My dad said "wtf, they have three guys on that side and still couldn't stop the ball."
Weird positioning. First baseman is guarding the line but 2nd baseman is playing way over towards that side too and shortstop is behind 2nd base. Left a big hole open for a routine ground ball to get through. That’s probably why Lynn was pissed. Over shift by 2nd baseman that is.
