- Las Vegas is known as "Sin City" for a reason: gambling, escorts, drinking, and all sorts of debauchery are hallmarks of this racy city. So is this even a valid travel destination for families and folks with kids in tow? The answer is: yes! There's a TON to do in Las Vegas, Nevada for families and kiddos alike!
Join Marti from "Down the Wrabbit Hole" as she and her family spend a fun-filled weekend down on the Las Vegas Strip, bouncing from casino to casino, find all sorts of exciting, family-friendly activities to participate in. If you plan it right and know where and when you want to visit, Vegas had LOTS to do. We actually missed a bunch of things on our "to-do" list and now we have to go back one day! :)

The kids are wanting to go back so badly. We didn't get to do a lot on our list last time, so I'm seriously considering a quick jaunt down there in May with them. :) Hope you get to go!
Yes!! Most definitely some fun for the family.. that Tournament of Kings is like Medieval Times here in NJ.. we heading to Vegas soon too..

10:17 - This picture is a perfect summary of what your kid will be exposed to in Las Vegas. Can't imagine a worst place for them (I'm currently in Las Vegas with kids - shame on me)
There’s definitely adult themes in Vegas that can’t be avoided. Skimpy clothes, homelessness, gambling, people walking around with alcohol, it’s all there. We talked to our kids before going about some of the things they might see. It’s definitely not for every family!
I have only been to vegas twice - both were fun but expensive to eat or drink. I went in 2014 for a yt greet n meet (that was very exciting, wild, dramatic and unforgettable), and last year for our teenage daughter’s national club volleyball tournament. We ended up eating lots of McDonald’s and Mall food court and pizza that week, lol. (We ended up purchasing a cheap cooler at walmart and stored our breakfast and lunch items in our hotel room)
Yes, Vegas isn't cheap, that's for sure. That's why I get so excited about all the free sites and attractions! LOL We did a few fast food meals and one buffet brunch to help with cost, but I'd already planned to splurge at the Rainforest Cafe because it was totally on my bucket list!

It’s a fun city, that’s for sure. When nightfall hits, there’s a different vibe, and those guys with escort cards come out and hand them out to passersby (cards with nude women), so we tried really hard to be back at the hotel by the time it got dark, or to just grab a cab from wherever we were. Otherwise, it was great for us!

Are you Loonie giving up your money at the end? Beautiful BC is the place to be. Skiing for all to see! Tubing, ice skating, sleigh rides, ice tower climbing. What a great discovery that would be.
Oh she got me good! I got suckered in like a wide-eyed tourist. Oh well. Hope she ate well that night. We love BC, it’s been a few years since we visited but we hope to go again soon.

When the kids get older, you can count one me dragging them to every single on so we can play them together!! Joey, on the other hand, might opt to stay at the hotel! LOL
I've never been to Las Vegas, but I have relatives who were there. One of my siblings was married there in the mid 1980s. This was awesome. Cheers!👍👍✌️

Well, we managed to squeeze that one little trip in. We definitely don't travel as much as I'd like anymore. The kids are so busy with their activities, I started my own business, and my husband is quite senior in his company so he doesn't get much free time. Makes it hard to travel! But this trip was quick and fun! :)

We love Vegas and it is like a right of passage for our family. We were just in Vegas in January and spent most of our time in Circus Circus. We stayed in Paris. We need to go to Mandalay Bay for all those activities. Rainforest Cafe is so fun. This is such a good list.
Sounds like I need to get a list of 'things to do' from you guys for our next trip!! We only had three days on this trip, so we missed out on a bunch of stuff from our list. Now we need to go back! ;)

Great list. 👍 Some other ideas: the Neon Museum was really cool to see, and for older kids The Mob Museum were both highlights for us!
Both things are on my "must see" list - we just ran out of time this trip. I've heard the Neon Museum won't allow cameras as well, due to copyright infringement issues.

Well, there's definitely places you can take kids, and places where you shouldn't. And I wouldn't go for a fun family stroll late at night. But if you know beforehand some fun places to try and when to try them, Vegas can be a blast! :)

My favourite store is the MnM store where you make your own personalized MnM's. I go there every single time I'm in Las Vegas!

Avoid those "Showgirls". They are very "nice" UNTIL it comes time to "donate whatever you want". I've heard stories from a lot of people how rude those showgirls get if you "donate" an amount they don't like. They are nothing but hustlers.
Ha ha - I learned my lesson for sure! I thought they'd be happy with the fiver I was planning on giving for the photo, but I pretty much got bullied into giving them more. Not cool. Never again!!!!

Yeppers! New York New York has one that wraps around the outside of the hotel, and there's one inside the Stratosphere at their amusement park. :)

Yep! I mean, don't take them out for a 1 a.m. adventure and you'll be just fine! ;) There's so much we didn't get to do, we are hoping to go back for a Pt 2 family trip!

My kids still, a year and a half later, beg to go back to Las Vegas. There's a ton we didn't get to see and do, so we could definitely make another family trip out of it!
wish you could explain close to or In which hotels these places are, easier to map...anyways - subbed.
I got you! Most of the places I DO tell you where to go, but I see that when I talk about the shops, I don't tell you. But here you go! --> Mandalay Bay pools and aquarium are at the very Southern end of the Strip close to the airport, then next to that casino is the Luxor with the Egyptian stuff and Titanic / Bodies exhibits, then next to that is the Excalibur with the Tournament of Kings and medieval decor. Across the street but on the same side of the strip is New York New York with the Hershey's Store, giant rollercoaster, indoor New York neighborhood simulation, etc. Crossing the road at New York New York to the opposite side of the strip you wind up at the MGM Grand casino, and beside that casino is the M&M Store and the Coca Cola Store. We stayed in at Mandalay Bay so most of our 'on foot' wanderings were in this little pocket of the strip. However, we did grab a taxi and went to Harmon Retail Corner (which is just beside Planet Hollywood) to eat at the Rainforest Cafe and do the Ropes Course (that is sadly now closed). And we took the taxi a little further to the North end of the Strip to see Circus Circus (the Stratosphere is right there too, with lots of fun rides as well!) Hope that helps with your mapping and planning! :)

Why would you NOT book a room at Circus Circus?
When looking at reviews and recommendations, it was stated more than once that Circus Circus is in need of some updating and renovations, there is a permeating scent of cigarettes, and it's also not that central. If I'm going to sacrifice quality then it had better be for convenience, but this hotel seems to have neither. The midway and circus shows were fantastic however, and when the kids get older we intend on taking them to the Adventuredome! But we are happy staying in a different casino for now.

I can definitely see that! I have friends that live there and she says she only ever goes to the Strip when they are hosting friends from out of town. Otherwise they avoid it as much as they can. LOL

i always laugh when i see tourists bring their kids to vegas and complain about inappropriate things that their kids shouldnt see i meeeeaaaann ya ofc there is things for kids to do here because hotel owners already know not everybody wants to leave their kids home or whatever the case may be but generally vegas is an adults playground gambling, alcohol, weed, escorts, drunk people, homeless, druggies, half naked show girls, and the list goes on and on lol if you are one of those parents that are strict about their child seeing those things which no doubt walking down the strip you will 100% then leave them at home this is not disneyland
Which is why I wanted to post this video. I've been to Las Vegas several times, and I know it's not Disneyland. But it can be a ton of fun for families too. There are places you can take children to, and places you definitely shouldn't. There's times of day that are more family-friendly, and there are times of day when it's better that families relax in their hotel instead of stroll the streets. We had a blast as a family in Vegas!

Lots to do with kids! Vegas gets a bad rap for being an "adult's playground" but really, if you go out during the day and stick to safe areas, there's tons for families too!

Oh but I love it so much! It's kind of a Vegas ritual for me to always come home with a bag of M&Ms that have little sayings I wrote on them. I know its touristy but I adore it. ;)

Fun stuff but there's nature to explore too with red rock canyon and valley of fire where kids can really get out and burn some energy off.😀🏜
Next time we hope to get out and do some of those - Red Rock Canyon for sure, and I’d love to go see the Grand Canyon. We just didn’t have the time this go-round, and Joey didn’t want to bother with renting a car. Next time for sure!
