- The UK has been training thousands of Ukrainian recruits using battle-proven British Army expertise.
Ukrainian soldiers have been undergoing training at an undisclosed location in the north of England - enrolled on a British-led five-week crash course.
They are learning everything from weapon handling, tactics, and trench warfare to battlefield first aid and the law of armed conflict.

Troops with a cause, motivation and good training can overcome tactically superior numbers as we can all see. The most successful squadrons in the Battle of Britain were Polish pilots who had the hate and motivation of losing their homeland to the Nazi's. This gave them the desire to succeed, this is the same with the Ukrainian troops fighting Putin's ill trained conscripts.

I'm impressed and greatly heartened by Britain's stalwart response to the present challenge to basic decency. These are the times that reveal each nation's true colours. From elsewhere in the Commonwealth I humbly send my approval, gratitude and respect.
I wonder what the implications of this will be for the training of British infanteers going forward. No doubt it will be positive but I wonder if this will have a transformative effect on how training is delivered/the timescales devoted to various aspects of training. There will be a lot of lessons learned from this I am sure.
I'm sure you are right, up to a point. The main difference is if it's ineffective when it comes to long term combat, the bodies won't be brought back to Brize Norton. Ben Wallace won't be answerable to voters here. I'm not saying it's wrong, but the cost to The UK isn't going to register. Whereas if the training to UK forces is cut and battlefield casualties grow politicians will have to answer for their decisions.
@@stetomlinson3146 Astute point, I agree. In times of conflict, corners may need be cut, it is the nature of the beast, sadly bodies are needed on the line. However, if an extra few months provision of training is allowed, by circumstance, then of course that expansion of training should be provided.
6 weeks of the best training with the best equipment is much better than zero training and rusty wepaons their enemies now get. They can't wait 6 months for each troop going through a normal recruit programme
@@modelrailwaynoob Totally agree with your point.

@@deemwinch Your true and unarguable statement doesn't fit my narrative. Therefor I'm ignoring it.
@@deemwinch well if you compare British ex colonies to the other empires of their time you can clearly see who done the best with their colonies. The British people were eating poorer than most of the colonies. Most of the countries we went to were worse with their own people than we were and worse off when it comes to oppression. Loads of colonies complained that we had left and still do today. Canada New Zealand, Australia, USA are all 1st world countries which is more than you can say for the other empires of that era.
