I felt a strong connection to this video. Partly because I have met the both of you, and partly because I too am part of the LGBT community. Hearing how much the both of you have gone through, and how far you've come, brings feelings of joy to me.
This is the first video of yours I have ever watched, and it is really amazing to watch it and hear you two speak about being parents - one of the first things that came out of my mums mouth when I asked her what would happen if one of her kids came out as gay she said that she would probably be upset due to the fact that she would not have grandkids from that daughter. Since then, I have slowly been coming out to friends and family and in the future I really want kids.. and seeing two people being able to do this and be happy and mostly accepted is something that really hits home and makes me realise that yes it is okay to be gay and have a family. SO thank you.

I live in Utah and just came out to my highschool cause I recently began dating a girl, but my parents are lds (my dads in the bishopric and my moms the young women's president) and they are super strict. It's super hard and tough. I love your family and this video really helped me ❤️ thank you
I just want to say thanks. My girlfriend and I definitely want to have our own family some day, and families such as yours set the way for our journey to be a smoother ride. Even just by being visible, by the time its our turn to start a family it will be more normalised and maybe even less protocols and laws we'd have to conform with.

I grew up LDS and still am but the issues surrounding LGBT makes me sad and I struggle with the decision the church makes on that subject. For me I love everyone and I would never treat anyone differently because of who they are, it's hard being from a very stuck in the ways family and not seeing way to eye. If hat makes sense. You guys have a beautiful family!!! If my son or daughter are gay it's not a big deal for me. I love them for who they are and will love them no matter who they are or who they love.

In regards to second parent adoption, do you know if that's the standard for all states? My wife and I hope to have children in the future and we will hopefully be in North Carolina and I hadn't ever considered the birth certificate.
+HelloThere604 It completely depends on the state that you live in. It took our friends suing our state to make it not necessary here. With that said, no state has won against an LGBT family on this issue. The way to make it legal in your state (if it isn't already) is to sue the state. Not only will you win, but our friends won $25,000 dollars doing it.

I was so surprise with the second parent adoption. In Spain it is not a thing. Same-sex parents automatically on the birth certificate and on the family book. It would be a huge deal it they denied you of that possibility. Also, since we have 2 surnames, you can choose which one goes first both in all types of marriages.

I'm a gay man and I'm in a long-term relationship, and I've been wondering about how other families navigate naming choices at the point of marriage. I am so glad that it is not laid out for me, because I think that the way it is laid out for straight couples is messed up, but the whole of western civilization is trying to grapple with this question of what to do with surnames. I really like my partner's mother's "maiden"-name, I might take that when we get married. I want our little family to have the same surname. I am open to hyphenation, but I recognize that you can't do that every generation, which is hard, it's just not particularly sustainable. I also really fancy the idea of constructing a last-name that holds meaning for my partner and I. So, what was your decision like? What variables did you go through?

I have a question to same sex parents what do your child calls you like cause there dad and mom but what happens if both of the parents are the same gender do the parents decide what they want to be called or does it depend on the child .
+ajim edy It depends on the family. Our daughter calls us mom and mama. I wanted her to call me mommy, but she stuck with mama. She clearly knows a distinction. It's sweet. Every family is different.
