This was a fucking fantastic look into not just the history of cyberpunk, but its meaning and relevance. You deserve way more attention than you're getting!!
Bro I thought this was a massive channel that did deep dives, this video is so well put together and the way it flows from idea to another is insane, keep up the content I’ll keep coming back
Fantastic! I've been into the Cyberpunk genre since the mid-90s, a love reignited by the release of Cyberpunk 2077 four years ago. Hugely enjoyed your video!
Congrats on having your first video pop off! I hope the algorithm pushes this to more people. I needed something to mentally chew on while in my pit of despair. I've been obsessed with the Cyberpunk genre for years. Well done!
This video hits so many great aspects of cyberpunk, the quality is just amazing. I can really see you going far as a content creator man, keep it up. Youve defintely inspired me on my storytelling journey🙌
@framearc Wow I’m really impressed with the research you have put into this video. I recently got back into playing Cyberpunk 2077 during my winter break from school and let me tell y’all that game has me in a chokehold lol. But seriously the game really got me interested in finding movies and games that share similarities with Cyberpunk. You definitely got my attention with this and I am now subscribed! Sending you lots of positive energy and I hope your channel thrives this year. Good luck and thank you for making this. 😄
Loved the breakdown of the genre, gives me a wider view of it and makes me aware of different takes of the genre. Can’t wait to see what you cover next.
You can also count watch dog as cyberpunk game. Or current day cyberpunk/non-cyberpunk aesthetic cyberpunk. Issues about data privacy, technological advancement, and regular people versus corporation
megalo box, no guns life and mettalic rouge are all also fantastic cyberpunk anime that not alot of people talk about.. and id argue that blame is straight up just scifi at this point... its post- cyberpunk
@Framearc.channel a sci-fi universe I've been building since I was 14 (decade ago) and now I want to a film director and bring it to life. Look out for my name and TSFO, you'll know what it stands for in the future
Been a minute since I've played buy I believe SUPERHOT is also and really fun, optionally vr, cyberpunk/distopian game that wasn't mentioned here. Don't recall too much of the story though.
Cyberpunk is relevant today, but it doesn't have the same cultural cache or impact that it did in the 80s/90s. I think it suffers from the Jazz problem where it was born out of a specific emotion associated with its time and needs to constantly reinvent itself to have the same gravitas: in the 80s it was fear of corporatization due to Thatcher/Reagan, in the 90s it was fear of the digital age. In the 2010s resurgence, it's essentially been reborn as an aesthetic genre, abound with tropes and not much to say. This isn't to say that post-modern cyberpunk can't have great stories (Mr Robot was the last thing that truly felt authentic imo) but we seldom ever see anything that speaks to our current condition anymore - something that we can look at as a truly cautionary tale for the near future.
There's genuine effort in the thumbnail and direction of the imagery, hate having to live in an age where I have to give serious doubt because someone is monotone / the script happens to be relatively formulaic. But hey, that's our cyberpunk present.
this is by far the best deep dive into cyberpunk ive seen, not just as an aestethic but a genre as a whole
thank you soooo much!

I played Superhot, it’s a good game 👍

I really liked your comparison with jazz!
Good first vid, though the narration / script gives AI generated vibes, hope my impression is wrong but ya.
There's genuine effort in the thumbnail and direction of the imagery, hate having to live in an age where I have to give serious doubt because someone is monotone / the script happens to be relatively formulaic. But hey, that's our cyberpunk present.
Damm you tube recommend finally doing something right .👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
