A couple of quick thoughts: Dyslexia is fun! I mistakenly said the "RS-323" phoenix connector instead of what it ACTUALLY is, which is an RS-232 phoenix connector. Apologies and I've spoken to myself about this already and I've assured myself it won't happen again. Also, when I referred to the OREI HDA-939 as "plug & play" when it comes to the eARC extraction, I meant on OREI's side. Other than plugging in the cables and tapping the SELECT button, that's all you need to do on OREI's side. No further tinkering needs to be done. So in that sense, it's pretty plug and play! And hey, if you're on the fence, the OREI HDA-939 is currently on sale at Amazon for $179 instead of the normal price of $199! for those wondering : Uncompressed has better sound quality , but anything other than stereo uncompressed needs E-ARC. Normal ARC only works with stereo uncompressed ( sometimes called stereo/ 2 channel PCM ). If u want to output 5.1/7.1 PCM , u need E-ARC
On my PC, I run an HDMI out to an much older 7.1 AVR for audio and I run DisplayPort out to my display (1440p, 144Hz), this results in having a phantom display on my PC. I imagine something like this would allow me to eliminate the phantom display if it could support 1440p/144Hz over HDMI.
This is the first time that I’ve watched your video and I absolutely loved it. However, I’m going to list down at the bottom the components that I have and let me tell you what I’m looking to do. Hopefully you can point me in the right direction if not. With this unit. 2023 Samsung S95B QD-OLED w/ EARC. Sony HT-A9 w/EARC I also have a very strong Wi-Fi signal so you probably asking yourself. What do I need? I’m looking for an HDMI extractor like this that will allow me to wear $200-500 Sony or Apple headphones and somehow hook it up to my Sony 4K Blu-ray player 800M to receive 4K ultra HD HDR and True HD 5.1 or 7.1. Hell, I’d be happy with spatial audio at this point which I actually get from my Apple TV 4K. I think. Do you have any advice about connecting my TV and Home Theater system with EARC on both ends? How can I use the extractor to connect and listen to my Blu-ray Dolby Atmos disc at night time so my dog can sleep soundly next to me
Great review. I bought a new receiver for 2.1 capabilities. My old avr was only a couple of years old. I might've gone this route if I had known it was an option. That's life, though. Also, are you going to be doing some more gaming subject videos in the near future? Do you have a PS5 also, or are you an Xbox guy?
Thanks for the comment! I've honestly been searching for something like this for a while, basically ever since I upgrade my display to an HDMI 2.1 even before the LG C1 I have now. And I definitely plan on doing more gaming-focused home theater content soon; I just currently have an influx of product reviews I need to get through first. But I do have a PS5 in addition to the Series X and plan to make videos revolving around both of those.
Great review and I'm very excited as im having problems. Please can you help. I'm a pc games I'm currently using my gpu to avr to get 5.1 but it's dropping my hrz on my monitor from 165 to :I think: 140 hrtz so getting less fps Can I use this gadget to get true 5.1 if so does Windows see my dennon avr or do you have to download software Hope this makes sense. God bless 🙌
I am using a 2.1 system in my living room where I had a bluesound node connected to my integrated am to use its streaming features. I also used the HDMI arc on the node to connect my tv to my system. I had the HDMI arc port from my tv connected to the HDMI port on the node and I had the node SPDIF port connected to the SPDIF port on my integrated amp. With this setup, I was able to use HDMI CEC to control the volume of the system with the tv remote. I recently sold my node and I'm hoping that this device can let me plug my tv's HDMI arc port into the OREI HDMI port, output sound from the SPDIF to my integrated, and let me use CEC to control the volume. Do you know if that is possible with the OREI?
Hi, I am in a very unique problem and not finding any solution. I have Sony tv which has 3 hdmi ports but out of 3 only one port has arc/earc and allm support. I own a ps5 and planning to buy a home theater. Both of these I need 2 earc ports on tv but I have only one on TV. As ps5 for allm has to be connected on port 3 and home theater also for earc has to be connected to port 3 I am struck at what to use to fix this. The hometheater has only one hdmi earc port. Can you please help.
Great video … I have a 720/1080p projector and a marantz that supports 1080p . Can I run this using arc .? For fire stick..a ps3 ..? .i have changed hdmi cables and i still get a lose signal once in a while. Will using one of these stop this ..? Thanks
I just seen this video, i have a soundbar with no hdmi only optical cable port. My tv has an hdmi Earc. Can i still use this device? And how would i connect it?
This might be a dumb question but what are the benefits of separating the audio and video on an Apple TV? Also if I wanted to do this and also get the benefit of the eARC function I’m assuming I’d need 2 of these decoders. Or am I wrong?
I WANT TO TAKE LOSSLESS AUDIO 2CHANNELS FROM TIDAL APP ON MY GOOGLE TV AND THEN TO A CHORD MOJO2 DAC(SINCE SONY ONLY GIVES ME 48BIT AUDIO THROUGH OPTICAL OUT). CAN I TAKE AN HDMI EARC FROM MY SONY TV TO THIS CONVERTER AND THEN TROUGH TOSLINK OUT TO MY MOJO2 DAC? THANK YOU
Hi, will this device extract Dolby Atmos even if my TV 4K has only ARC, my Onkyo receiver has only HDMI with no Arc with my Xbox One X? Or do I need at least one eARC device in the chain to work? Much appreciated for your advice... Thank
will I still be able to use the arc output of my receiver to use all the HDMI ports which is essentially like an HDMI splitter? could I plug a HDMI to the input of the extractor but still extract the earc audio to the receiver from the orei outputs.
Hi, can you help me with this device, i want to connect it with my Samsung tv and my Vizio soundbar with subwofer dolby atmos, i can't get it to work so i don't know if I'm doing it wrong so if you can help me please if you can send me a diagram if you can. Thank you
