Thank you for providing that example of how quantitative and qualitative methods are different from each other. It made me understand the differences a lot better.
Thank you for the informative lecture video professor. I think that both types of research are important and it really depends on the research question. Both can be organized with an excel sheet, but I think quantitative data would be better for that because it is numeric.
Very interesting professor, although both terms are so alike, I strongly believe that qualitative is more accurate, vs we can run the risk of having some errors in the numbers in quantitative , as the book states in the first pages.👍👍
In opinion I think that Quantitative research is better to follow when you are doing a certain type of research question. If you have a research question and then you take the data you know that you have factual data that you can back up your studies with. When you have a research questions and you base if off a qualitative research you can only go off of what people tell weather or not they are giving their honest responses of factual opinions, you have nothing to back up their information on. For that specific reason I was always taught in my previous data analysis class that qualitative is always the best way to go in certain cases because you will always have actual data to back up your research, instead of opinions.
Aimee, I personally am a fan of qualitative research but I agree with your argument. Also, with the example given, the person interviewed could be dishonest and change their answer on purpose.
