Great explanation of these two schools of thought. I find aspects of both interesting. The main issue I see with the Positivist School is that it could lead to lesser punishments for people from low income communities of color VS their white peers. While sociological factors and learned behavior are important considerations, there is something about giving a lesser sentence based on life circumstances that I see as problematic. Equally problematic is tying the judge's hands to mandatory minimum sentencing laws. A catch-22 that warrants a lot more conversation.

Hi Dr. Silva, if we have two modes for the age grouping why don't we average the age by adding 21 and 28 and dividing by two to get ONE mode averaging 24.5?
