I bought a Mighty Vac pump to use on oil changes. It would evacuate 98% of the oil from the dipstick hole. With the proper size and type socket the filter removal is a snap and clean.

Last time I checked, I didn't find dealer repair manuals for my son's mini. Not sure if it is because BMW won't share info or because Alldata or Mitchell don't bother with European imports. You can find them on ebay but access to TSB's is always reassuring in case there are common fixes for known issues that arise later. Nice work, Glen!

    The thermostat housings on
these warp and leak. I found one made of aluminum on eBay. The Radiator fan resistor fails and you can replace it with a 10 dollar resistor on the fan wiring instead of having to take the whole damn thing out. I changed the auto trans fluid to Mobil 1 synthetic at 45K and now 75 K and no problems.
Koni FSDs, Wilwood Big Brakes all around, bigger sway bars, 15% reduction supercharger pulley, 225/50/16 all around frame braces underneath and on the shock towers and a bunch of stuff I have forgotten about on my 2006 MCSa makes mine way different than stock. It was also ordered with every option but JCW and Aero body kit. Kept it to 35k new out the door.
Bought the MINI when I was 51 yrs old and it is just way too tight for my old ass all the time now. Bought a 04 base Corvette with 45 K on it that was super clean. Put z51 bars on it for the curves and that is all. The Corvette seems like a soft luxury ride to me and goes around corners flat. Was thinking to sell the Mini but It is still fun as hell when I want to get a little frisky. Also nobody would want to pay me what it is really worth. I had sheepskins on top of the leather since new and the seats look it. Like new.
Almost forgot the Alta cat back exhaust. Also new headliner and new tint last spring.

Mini dealership put a gorilla on one of my oil changes way back when. The oil plug and the filter were on so tight my regular mechanic tried and said he was afraid to put on more pressure. Took it to Mini and they got them off but did not write it up on their books and changed my oil for free. For the first 3 yrs 36000 miles they gave free maintenance. They did one and I did two because of their idiotic 15000 mile interval. When I asked for transmission service they said it was lifetime lubed and I knew they had lost their fucking minds. I figured out how to do it myself and it is absolutely needed no matter what they say.
