Thank you so much for posting this. Was able to resurrect my Aiwa 3cd changer. The small drive belt under the cd platter had come off. Once I got that back on, reassembled the platter, all worked like a charm. Glad you posted this. I would have given up if I didn't know repairs are so simple.
Thank you! Thank you! I took my mom's old 1997 AIWA to a repair shop and they said I could buy a new one (if I even wanted to) for less. Your fix worked. 2 seconds to open it, 2 secs to clean the lens. Ok- an hour to put the CD tray back correctly but it works🎉
I have the MiniDisc version of this, and the CD changer has issues where it only reads some discs but not others. I'm definitely going to follow your video and try to clean the laser. Thanks!
Hi, I have a IAWA just like the one you were working on. I'm having the same problem with the CD player. Ita a pity you didn't show the cleaning of the Laser. I'm nor sure where to clean.
Thanks for this!! My older model won't read either, and I am going to attempt my first repair. I live with a grey parrot, so I suspect heavy dust is the culprit.
I have a CX nmt 725 CD3 with karaoke features fancy lights and it was beautiful when I got it about 25 years ago can't quite remember where I got it maybe it might have been Costco. Bottom line I broke my back way back then everything was put in storage and it just happened to be stored inside of my big Grumman Wonder Bread truck period and varmints fixed it as their Taj Mahal. The left tape door is jammed and won't open. And as I looked it over I remembered a few specific things that was wrong with it before it was stored period such as the CD player will not play also. but before I stored it I barely had a chance to use it. It's very sad because it's so dirty but because I hardly ever used it I know that it could be brought back to life and I'm just hoping someone can tell me if it's worth a shot to give it an overhaul. Those dirty rats they can be a pain in the derriere. I live south of Bakersfield California and north of La about the same distance up in the local High Desert Hills I have to go 50 miles north or south to get quality service for anything. I might be able to take pictures but my phone needs replacing and my service is slow so blah blah blah it takes forever to send pictures maybe through email. But don't mean to bug you just throwing it all out there see what I can do to save the life of this once Upon a Time, beautiful set up. Also I am pretty handy a twerking on my own cars and other things. Because I enjoy it so maybe With a Little Help from somebody and service manual, I could try doing it myself. I used to jump right into getting under the hood of my cars. But I really don't want to jump under anything these days hehehe:-) okay have a good one talk to you soon maybe. PS, my phone has its own language. Haha I said working on my own cars and my phone said twerking. Cute

Mine did this and it's eventually why I threw it away. It was a widespread issue. I'm almost positive it has nothing to do with smoke residue on the laser. I would also take mine apart and it would work for a while, then start having issues again.

Hello! I just inherited an AIWA NSX-330 from my grandmother. It's old, but she took excellent care of it so I don't know if it's coincidentally just the timing of me receiving it or what, but CDs started skipping pretty consistently right when I got it. They were playing just fine at her house a month or so ago. I blew some compressed air into it last night, and I've already run a CD player cleaner disc through it a few times. Any thoughts/advice?

I have this exact problem but it seems as if the mechanism that lowers and heightens the disc reading lenses doesn’t work. Does yours have a little yellow box? If so does it line up with a larger blue gear?
I have the same problem but it gives me the info of the album cd but it wont give work it doesnt give me sound !!! The sound is working fine on aux and radio
It'd be easy to take your comment in jest, but I thought about it a little more and believe it to be a profound question worth, perhaps, a future video. Thank you for the good comment, SD 👌

Hi guy I actually own the same device, but the CD does not work so that its lens is damaged. I still love this machine despite its huge size. I do not have a power of attorney in my country of Egypt. Is there any advice from you?
I have an Aiwa NSX-SZ17 from the dumpster with same problem, fix that however it seems there is problem with the distance of the deck to read the CD. It reads the index and start playing but after a few seconds it is unable to locate the track. When I press on the bottom of the deck it sometimes can get right on track. Somebody any idea what can cause this problem?
I am in the same boat as you. It indicates pause for all selections and the manuel says to go to tape two and turn off pause but that does not work. Any suggestions?
You might need new belts for the cassette decks, and make sure you clean the heads and capstan with Isopropyl alcohol. For CD player? Replace the laser
Hello, I had the same model and the tray is opening but not closing. Once I pushed the close button it will change the disk instead of closing, any idea? So Also sometimes when a track playing it is switching to the previous track for a while (for a few seconds) and again it switching to the current track.
Hi Lasith, This could be relatively simple or quite difficult. First, first, first (because it's so easy and occasionally works) try plugging it in to a different outlet. Perhaps it isn't the device, but rather altered outlet properties. Next, clean the contacts of your buttons. Typically it will take more than just cleaning the outside, but rather open up the player and clean on the inside as well. Start with compressed air and if that doesn't fix it, move on to careful use of 91% isopropyl alcohol. Still doesn't work? Check ribbon cables. Still doesn't work? Reflow solder joints. Still doesn't work? Likely you are dealing with a hardware component failure--which isn't difficult to replace, but can be difficult to diagnose. Good luck, my friend 🍀
nice video, I have 2 aiwas, the XH-A1000 (Beast of a system!) and now recently found a CX-NA707 on the side of the road. First issue with the cd was the belts were bad, and the tray would not eject, so I had to replace those. Then it worked, but wouldn't read the cds, turns out the issue was I needed to adjust the potentiometer for the laser a little bit, now it seems to work great. The XH-A1000 cd works fine luckily, as thats a much bigger system and getting at the cd mechanism would be a pain haha

@Herb Bot, you just troubleshot your stereo! The problem lies in the processing of your CD's audio data. Check wiring and ribbon cables running from the CD player to the amplifier. Sometimes just jiggling cables while the CD player is running will reveal the troubled component. Be careful not to put too much tension on ribbon cables as they can break and be difficult to find replacements. Good luck, bud 🍀
