Hello everyone! Thanks for watching this video! As of August 2023, I'm no longer an ALT with the JET Program (I left on good terms!). I won't be responding to comments on this video anymore, but you can still connect with me on Instagram @chelseav_jp Thanks for supporting this channel the past 2 years, it was fun creating videos about being an ALT!
I'm honestly surprised more people haven't made a video on this topic. I brought one plastic bag and I've had the same bag for like a year 😅 it's an essential!
Not to be nosey but I had to pause the video when you showed your stickers hehe I LOVE the Appa+gaang sticker. It is so cute. I just found your channel and it has the most calm and sunny vibe, hope you get to experience loads of things during your time in Japan!
Your channel is awesome Chelsea! I'm an aspiring ALT and all your videos have been super helpful. I was wondering if I could request a video explaining your experience with the cost of living in Japan? I'm concerned that the ALT salary is not enough to support the high cost of living there. TT
Love your videos!!!! 😭 But I was curious for awhile now- where do you have a signature stamp made? Someone here recommended getting one before coming to Japan but... also heard you can have one custom made for you while you are there? Thanks again! ❤️
They're not too important in my experience, I've rarely ever had to use it, and there's shops here for it plus many conbinis do em too. I wouldn't stress over it tbh
my supervisor had one made for me before i arrived! i use it for documents and paperwork that are work related, but other than that, it's not needed much in your daily life from my experience
Thank you so much for this video. I wanted to ask if you know of the company Joytalk as it has sent me an employee offer to start in April this year. And they noted that I will be allowed to travel to Japan as an essential worker for public schools, did you have to use that as well?
hi emilie! i have not heard of joytalk, but i came to japan through the JET Program. i got lucky as i was able to come while the restrictions were less intense, though many people in JET have still not been able to come after waiting 2 years. i hope you're able to get here!
its been really hard, definitely lots of low moments where we wish we could be together. its a huge decision that needs a lot of communication & clarity. i would honestly wait until japan is open again so you have the chance of visiting each other more easily! with the country closed, i won't have enough time to go home until the summer

Is driving to seven schools affordable as a teacher? 😮
How is managing your relationship long distance going? I'm considering the program, but I really don't want to do long distance for 1 year...

@@chelseav ugh that's true. Thanks for the advice and sorry to hear about the lows :'( Long distance sucks but stay strong- ya'll can do it!!
