  • In the season 2 finale of the John Wayne Gritcast, we sit down with western legend, Red Steagall. Red is an American actor, musician, poet, and stage performer. He has worked with artists like Ray Charles, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Glen Campbell and discovered Reba McEntire.
Ethan Wayne and Red sit down in the Cowboy Channel studio to discuss Red’s exciting life. Red also tells the story of when he met John Wayne while he was recording his Grammy-nominated album, America, Why I Love Her.
Red is such an icon in the western community and we are so thankful to have him as our Season 2 finale guest!

I grew up watching John Wayne movies, that was the only time we ever got to go to the
movie theater! I look forward to Veteran's Day every year cause they show all the great
WWII movies! I also had the great thrill of going to see True Grit for the fiftieth anniversary!
That's the Southern Hospitality you feel Ethan, when you get to Texas! (GA girl here).
Back to my John Wayne stories. As I got older it suddenly dawned on me one day that
my Grandfather and John Wayne were about the same age, no wonder he was my other hero!
We need to put Red on prime time to help educate people! The American people don't
understand how hard it is to be a farmer or rancher!
THE AMERICAN FARMER IS THE ONLY PERSON WHO PRODUCES A PRODUCT, BUT
DOESN'T GET TO NAME THE COST FOR THAT PRODUCT WHEN HE SELLS IT!!!!🇺🇸

Thoroughly enjoyed this interview. Thanks Ethan for carrying your torch and Red for carrying his for the farmers and ranchers of our great nation. I rank John Wayne and Red Steagall right in there together.

Came across Gritcast by accident and what a wonderful program. Thank you Ethan. When anyone asks if I’ve seen a movie I always ask ‘Is John Wayne in it? No? Then I haven’t seen it!

Thank you so much for such a great interview.
I'd love to see programs started to assist families that have started or want to start new lives as Small Homesteaders & are not only growing their own food from their own gardens & raising their own meat sources & growing small profitable businesses on the side.
The Small Homesteading Farms & Ranches have increased so much over the years that it's a wonderful sight to see, how their lives have improved & grown better because of what they're doing.
It's a if we're going back to the better way of life that was basically wiped out over the last 60 years.
I love seeing the new modern homesteaders that are thriving today & there are more & more families getting out of the big city rat race for this better way of life.
I just turned 69 in September & they're doing what I wanted to do years ago but never had the opportunity to do so.
It's sad to see our government until recently trying to undermine them at ever turn they can possibly think of.
They need our help, not our hindrance in their affairs as Homesteaders.
As far as I can see, this has been the best thing I've seen happening within our country in my lifetime & I say more power to them for being brave enough to do this for not only their families but our families as well because their small businesses are benefiting us as consumers of their products.
I'd rather see my money go into their pockets than the pockets of billion dollar corporation box store chains, who don't give a damn about us or our health.
Check out the UA-cam Homesteading Channels & watch their videos & what they're doing for not only their families but for our families cleaner & healthier food options & their other businesses as well.
Businesses that I should say, that are much better than the crap we get at those big box stores.
It's about time our Mom & Pop businesses strike back & take back their rightful places in our communities, our economy & our once good name of 'American Made'!

My Mom & her siblings were raised in Brackettville, Texas in the early 1900's. The movie the Alamo that John Wayne made was right outside of Brackettville.
