20 years ago i was a high school student, suffering from bad insomnia, wandering through the nights reading books and watching tv, struggling to get some rest. One night i turned on the tv and i saw this video and i was instantly hooked, mesmerized by this elegant exercise in lateral thinking. But, alas, i was unable to get the name of the artists, and at the time was nearly impossible to get some information on the internet and i apparently forgot that lucky occasion. Today, 20 years later, i'm again restless, drifting between music videos, and i found a strangely familiar thumbnail in the suggestions, and here it is. Memories buried under thousands of stratas of experiences, music, and white tremendous nights invest me, and i feel bliss. I love the conceptualization of a withering flower in regards to addiction. A withering flower trapped, silenced by outer forces not willing to speak up. Not being recognized, the light seeming to be it's only refuge. Much like addiction. You keep it to yourself, hide it from people closest to you. Until you see the light that encapsulates you right before you die. You don't need the light. You need life. Much like that flower with water.
People are saying how this is what they saw while being high. Personally, this is how i perceive the world, when i'm off my meds. I've only heard "Aku no Hana" version many years ago. Recently i've learned about ASA-CHANG＆巡礼 - 慶応四年. It was good. Turned out, that they are also authors of "Hana" (or am i worng?). I've found this video few months ago, when i run out my antipsychotics. The footage was literally what i was seeing all this time. i bought the album this is from completely blind in 2002 and Ive been listening to this song on repeat ever since. There is something so hypnotising about it. One of my favourite songs.
I listened to this in the back of the car on the way to my cousin's funeral. She was my age, only 21. It was an eight hour night drive. One of the most intense and disorienting musical experiences I've ever had to myself. Just watching as the trees passed by continuously form after form in the night. the fog made it look darker. i had barely eaten. my head was pounding and spinning. i just stared out the window with despair it was only this weekend that the funeral happened. i stayed all three days for the viewing. everyday i cried and watched as our numerous parents grieved the loss of a daughter. it was one of the hardest things i've ever done. i wanted to run away. but my family was amazing and we held each other. it was one of the hardest things any of us had ever done.
I'm disappointed this only has 27 thousand views. It's a creepy masterpiece, that grows into an ambient masterpiece as you get through it. It was also remixed for the Aku no Hana anime ending in 2013.
this song brings me a lot of feelings, despair, guilt, mental exhaustion, but it also brings me a feeling of relief, as if a weight was taken off my back for a few minutes, thank you 🍷🗿

A dear friend sent this album to me back in the mid 2000s. What a great time for music, stumbling across all this magic thanks to the internet removing all barriers of genre and regionality and financial status for the first time ever. Thanks for uploading, I'd lost this album so many years ago.
7 years ago I was taking a walk at national park with my friend. Suddenly my friend gives me tab of acid, I didn't know what it was, I took it. In few hours he gave me his ipod, this song was there, I just melted into transcendence. It just touches down deep into your heart. I sent it to my friend to listen to it, he is very emotional person, also musician, he listened to it once, and it had such an impact on him, he can't listen to it anymore, as it is so emotional. In the end, Aku no Hana or Flowers of Evil or Les Fleur De Mal is a true masterpiece. The ambient effects of the anime make you feel horror, discouraged, evil, depressing, with occasional fragments of light, hope, warmth, love all within every episode. EPIC.

In few hours he gave me his ipod, this song was there, I just melted into transcendence. It just touches down deep into your heart. I sent it to my friend to listen to it, he is very emotional person, also musician, he listened to it once, and it had such an impact on him, he can't listen to it anymore, as it is so emotional. @@karnaarjunarama8308 you dont get it, shuzo oshimi himself said that the animation style fitted perfectly the show. The "uncanny valley" is perfect for a show like this.
