An absolute masterclass from James 'Buddy' McGirt here in capturing the WBC and Lineal Welterweight titles.
Simon Brown was known for his punching power especially his left hook but McGirt used a number of tactics to prevent Brown from unloading his power shots such as dipping in to smother punches, hitting Brown on his way in or when he was getting set to throw, a lot of lateral movement and never getting involved in a trade by throwing short quick combos and then moving away out of range again. Something else I noticed was how McGirt was often ending his combos with a jab.

Buddy was one of the most underrated boxers of his era, great video👏🏿
For sure was!
Buddy is my favorite boxer just a complete professional the very essence of a boxer. He steps in dings his opponent a few times and steps back out of range and would do this all freaking fight.
Learned that from the old trainers.
What if wilder had a trainer like Archie Moore (the Yoda of boxing)?
@@Boxeo250 if wilder can't listen to Mark Breland a smaller version of wilder although better class in boxing, how would he listen to an archi Moore
Love it. Same strategy Bivol used against Canelo w/ different tactics.
Excited to watch this fight in full
Canelo is not a powerpuncher lol.
@@SBroconis522 haha nice one
@@Chente_Bui Miguel Cotto says: "Is that everything you got”. ua-cam.com/video/snxXQES3idY/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared
@@Chente_BuiI also remember when he landed 10 clean punches on Kirkland's head and that still wasn't enough to drop him. Inactive Kirland was koed in rd one by Ishida who had only a 50% Knockout ratio at mddleweight.
@@SBroconis522funny u mention a fight he won KO of the year for, LOL, but ofc he's fighting cruiserweights now so ofc he can't knock out anyone anymore
great tactics and a great engine. Ensured he didnt trade with the powerful puncher
This was a master class
Great video
Instantly reminds me of Andre Ward.
I see a lot of similarity between Buddy and Haven Brady
Old sckool boxing
He displayed some phenomenal skills with high ring IQ. I am not a fan of buddy mcgirt
