I've actually watched a few of these reviews for this product and so far yours have been the most straightforward like having a very techy friend show me how it works. Definitely picking this up now from lexar
Someone needs to make an all in one case with hub, 2TB SSD, mic input, and maybe some extra battery, all covered by a nice grip. That’s will be perfect. I saw some cases including a SD card for storage but still, this can be better.
Hi! The hub is great. It allows you to plug in an external mic and also power your phone. BUT, you don't need it, if you're only looking to shoot with the drive. Hope that helps!
I have this exact drive and an iphone 15 pro- i m stuck on how to tell that the phone sees the drive nobody tgat demonstrates these shows how to actually take a video and send it to the drive i can t see that the drive is installed on tge phoneNEWBIE USER ERROR !! Help?
How are you trying to use it? My main use cases: -Shoot to it using Blackmagic Camera app -Transfer files from Blackmagic app to drive In settings, under Media > Save Clips to, I select the Lexar.
@@JeffReviewsStuff Thank you. I am not a photographer, I play music, and wanted to video performances. I downloaded the black magic app, but haven`t used it yet. I assumed that my iPhone would immediately see the drive, and tell me it`s connected, and it would be plug and play. Thank you. I will dig in.
@@raymondcardona2635 I just tested it using the regular Camera app. After you shoot vid or pics, in Photos, select your files and click the Send icon in lower left. It will bring up a menu of options. Choose Save to Files. Under Locations, you should see Lexar. Good luck!
@@gametechbuilds3755 So you know, the Lexar kit has everything you need to get started. It comes with the necessary USB-C adapters. No cables required. The hub and drive don't need a phone holder. It's super easy!
@@gametechbuilds3755 It's important to find one that doesn't impede the USB-C port on the iPhone. Many "frame style" holders do. Which phone model do you have?
Be careful for Apple users. Apple does not support USB 3.2x2 (20Gbps), for iPhone 15/16 the port is USB 2.0 as Lighting unless you use Pro that suppport 10Gbps USB 3.2 . All Mac only support 10Gps USB 3.2 and 40Gbps TB3/4 or USB 4.0. It is so tricky before you buy the product that your devices not support it.
You're right, Tony. Lexar needs to be more transparent about which iPhone models will work with this. AND Apple needs to stop jerking us around with old school tech on new devices. USB 2 speeds in 2024 is a joke.
This works on a Samsung too, I've seen videos where people are using them on S24 and S23 Ultras. Not this drive but a spare Samsung 970 Evo NVMe SSD into an adapter and plugged in, and I took huge hyperlapses of the night sky and northern lights on my Samsung, so there's no reason why this shouldn't work too

@@carlitopicache629 Thank you! Appreciate the kind words.
Good review! I just ordered the 2TB + hub set!
Thanks SO much! I appreciate it.

Great video! Are those small adapters sold separately with the kit?
Thank you! The adapters come with the kit.
nice job lexar but excellent review Jeff
Thank you! I appreciate it. I really did the Lexar.
Is it hot when recording 4k60fps or prores?
It does get warm after recording for a while, but most drives do, so it's not a concern.
It will be great if we have a test for it :)
I tested some small ssd like nvme 2230 with box but it's too hot
I’m very new to this, could you tell me about the hub? What does it do and do I need it? Or just the drive alone works fine? Thank you!

Hagibis magnetic MC100 Pro is a lot better, attaches to magsafe and also has pd 100w port and extra data port.
Thanks for the tip. I'll check it out!

Does the small adapter work with the neewer cage?
Which Neewer cage? The one I reviewed? If so, it won't. The cage is too thick to accommodate the adapter. You can use a short USB-C cable, though.
I want to buy this for someone's birthday next year. Where can I find the links to the extra accessories that are available?
Which accessories?
@ cables adapters the phone holder to record

Hi Jeff. Unfortunately, I don't know. Lexar only mentions iPhone 15 and up.
Nice sweet but u gonna pay the price right expensive.
