The last era of where the cars had the distinctive flat/curvy surface dishing out lots of downforce just to keep the massive amounts of horsepower delivered to the wheels connected to the ground. Not many people feel passion for Group C, but this was one of those FIA groups that shared memorable moments for these drivers in this massively long lasting prestigious race. Gone but not Forgotten, We miss you Group C
Poor Eliseo Salazar, who was just a few hours away from being benched in the number 3 Jag to make way for Martin Brundle, who's 1 car failed overnight..
Le Mans was truly at it's peak in the 1980s to the 1990s, a shame today the rules ruin what used to be such a thrilling race of magnificent monstrous machines.
Price Cobb wasn’t driving that night stint. John Nielsen; I was forced to take the extra stint since Price Cobb had major physical problems. He was dehydrated, so I got one of his helmets, and did his stint instead of him. Nobody noticed.
@albertje001 I think you are not correct: The FISA ( a man called M. Mosley) broke the great group C trend by implementing the 3,5 L world motor engine. The ACO had too much power from FISA side. The ACO tried to keep the flags up only or in other words: The master beats the survant. The FISA did the same what happend later to the F1: Only commercial thinking broke the ghost of racing. After 1990 there was the big death for the privat teams which provided a huge pulk of cars.
