I listened to Himanish in 2021 after his piece of Axar's bowling analysis. Proper wacko stuff using Hawkeye data. Then Ashwin mentioned they had a data scientist from USA (also a astrophysicist) who used to do some good stuff. I followed him on twitter to see if I could get some more info. All that there was rants about bland Indian food in the USA. And now time to listen to the podcast after I went literally nowhere with my comment.

In the video he gives a hint on why he wasn't talking about cricket in the period.

I got so emotional listening to this. Thank you Jarrod for brining stories that perhaps would be lost or unknown and presenting them in such an engaging manner. The butterfly effect works so beautifully. Your 10% commission is due for sure 😅. This conversation has inspired me to write about things that I care about even beyond cricket because you never know who is reading. I don’t think I can put into words the effect this conversation has had on me. I think I have found a video I can revisit every time I need motivation to initiate action.

True mathematical genius, this guy. I read a piece on cricinfo years ago and was really impressed by it and thus came across Himanshu.

Kartikeya being dogmatic about cricket opinions is absolutely spot-on. I like the data related perspectives he brings onto cricket conversations but yeah, dogmatic is the right word xD
"Batters are irrelevant in test cricket" is a good example

Wholesome conversation. As dark matter invisibly shapes the universe, our brain's grey matter silently orchestrates our thoughts. Like a data analyst crunching numbers behind the scenes to help athletes win tournaments, the mysterious grey matter processes information to fuel our daily victories. Great Job @Himanish with the Indian team.

His piece on Rashid Khan is quite a nice one to read. Would love to know more on how the spinners have progressed as the pace of T20 has become faster and harder for bowlers

I genuinely wonder why we decided to play on slower & sluggish tracks for 2023 WC against stronger teams when clearly our batters don't like those surfaces.

The pitch in the WC final was really horrible otherwise I don't think any other pitch didn't suit Indian team.
The match against England was played at Ekana and everyone knows what sort of wicket to expect there. It wasn't made deliberately.

Dark matter was SA's generational choking genes which klassen & Miller have in abundance.....klassen couldn't even finish an almost won match vs kkr in the IPL last year 😅

Virat Kohli comes from Ricky Ponting's school of batting. His game is based on confidence, self-belief, passion for excellence and sheer hunger for runs. You don't look at him as the most technically correct batter like Sachin but for his mental toughness to dominate the best in the world. At his prime, even Mitchell Johnson or Dale Steyn couldn't dominate him. That speaks volumes about his mindset.
The day he gets the sheer hunger back, the day he starts middling the ball and gets back the muscle memory, he will be unstoppable. Although it's really difficult for him at the age of 36 to get his old game back against spin on turning tracks, he will still be effective against quality pace.
Also one factor is that Indian team isn't playing ODIs anymore so Virat is not having enough game time to regain his muscle memory. He mostly comes in Tests in difficult batting conditions under pressure of early wickets so it gets difficult for him to both construct an innings and get back his form at the same time.
I'm paraphrasing Bharath Ramaraj here. It's his original idea and it's very true in my opinion.

@@AyushRaj-rt6bb Nobody stops him from playing Ranji, but apparently he is way too above it.

@@3_smh_3 Let's be honest. The low staying grassy decks in Ranji will further dent Virat's confidence. You don't really get turning tracks in domestic cricket nowadays so there's effectively no positive impact of Virat playing Ranji.
It's the fault of the BCCI leadership. They think by leaving so much grass we will generate good pacers but the reality is average pacers like Kaverappa and Mukesh Kumar get loads of wickets there but they won't/don't get such conditions in international cricket. On such decks, no pacer is required to learn contrast/reverse swing either. Such decks are helping nobody. Our batters aren't prepared for SENA pitches, nor are our pacers.

@@AyushRaj-rt6bb Uh! Don't know where you're getting your info from but ranji has all types of pitches. Apparently Top wicket takers are usually spinners.
And even if there are some green tops, it helps with SA and NZ pitches.
