Making LED retrofit recessed lights with spring loaded pins work with Lightolier type recessed cans

I purchased some Feit electric LED dimmable retrofit kits. They are an all in one piece (bulb & trim) unit.
Unfortunately, they were not compatible with my Lightolier recessed cans. I made them work in a pretty stable way.

Man you are saving alot fo headaches with this one... I brought the c clips for my canisters and i seen this video 2 lights in... just the right andle drill and the clips thats 40 dollars in savings... sheesh.

Clever. I screwed in C-clip brackets using a 90 degree angle socket attachment on my drill (to be able to drill pilot hole and screw horizontally).

Great video. I followed your instructions with one modification. I am use to working with computers and electronics, so I can work wonders with zip ties. So I just put one zip tie above and one below the metal pins you bent in. Doing this allows the springs to stay inside the metal pins creating a channel for them to stay in. This basically works the same way as your idea works without having to bend the metal pins.

I have yet to find a solution for the canless version of airtite.

Here’s an even simpler fix: leave the Lightolier cans in the ceiling, remove the plastic trim inside the can, and use the LED retrofit kits with PRONGS not CLIPS. The prongs grip the inside of the cans. Problem solved!
