My First Million is a HubSpot Original Podcast // Brought to you by The HubSpot Podcast Network // Production by Arie Desormeaux // Editing by Ezra Bakker Trupiano
The constant uploads help keep the momentum and motivation going from week to week, you can't imagine how much I appreciate seeing a new video from you guys in my feed every few days. Thank you! 😎👍
Same for me!
Couldn’t agree more, I wish they posted twice a day 😂
The fact that this content is free to watch is a testament to this era of content creation. Hallelujah baby
What a rock and a legend. “We make 10s of millions in profit “ + “we pull it all out at the end of the year” = GOAT!
The money is a side effect of doing something we like doing for customers who like what we do. Never about the money for us, but of course it’s nice!
Just finished the pod and I’m crying. Not sobbing but happy. Founders letter and how excited Jason was to write it is very motivating. Loved the towel hook and Airbnb stories! I’m going to listen from the beginning again while cooking dinner. Great job guys!
Other than Rob Dyrdek, Jason has been the best guest by far. Love his mentality. I mean that’s the dream. Being totally successful, but enjoying life outside of your entrepreneurial journey. Jesse Itzler had a great story as well. Great interview.
Have been in Jason's energy field since about 2011 - I tune in and out and then every 3 years or so something pops up as a reminder that the core aspects of his life and business philosophy sit well.
The insights into Bezos character and approach were also 'interesting'.
Fantastic interview guys absolutely love your work and approach to this pod.
This pod was pure inspiration.
And I’m definitely executing the Founder’s Letter strategy.
As usual, the best content out there. 💪
Fried is a legend. Props for getting him on.
Loved this interview! Would love to see him as a regular guest. Very refreshing approach
Something happened to long format interviews.
This one brought it back.
My favourite episode. Period.
Also - I just emailed Jason to ask for a job. Fingers crossed
This is EASILY one of my most favorite MFM podcasts. Jason is amazing. Blazes his own path. Marches to the beat of his own drum and his thinking process is admirable. I'm a fan. That book, Rework is gold. Gonna have to rewatch this a few times and figure out how to incorporate into my own world. Thanks, fellas.
What Jason said about “it’s not my identity” resonated. I need to adopt more of that. Sam, Shaan, great questions guys. I thought: “oh ask him about his personal finances..” and you did! Maybe I watch too much MFM 😅🎉
Great insights on the 6-Week Sprint playbook! Adding to that, remember that breaking projects into smaller, manageable sprints can significantly boost productivity and focus, especially when combined with the critical path method to prioritize tasks that impact the project timeline the most.
These deeper and deeper talks - they really help moving forward - cheers! Big time!
“We don’t plan.” We just decide what we wanna do, split that up into six week sections with minimum amount of productivity per six weeks and do all that in a profitable way.
Loved this episode - would love to hear more from him
I love his thought-process and all of his books, full of timeliness principles. He cracked the code. Thx for bringing him
he's a legend
I’m going to look up his books now. Thanks!
A really nice episode. Was a pleasure watching you guys. Our founder and a few more have been following 37 signals a while now. That's great inspiration for our company.
Wow. So much to unpack. This was insightful.
This was a top tier episode
Ocupus is now how I pronounce that. Done. That's my take away from this haha
had to scroll way too long to find this comment lol
Uff finally 100% fire episode. Jason is the man 👍
This was incredible
tbh, i like the go with the flow approach, because you never know what kind of opportunities might appear along the way and when they come you need to react ^^
This was one of the best episodes
A lot of respect for Jason!
Jason is a legend!
agreed
Kevin Ryan has always been my favorite guest. Jason is now tied as my favorite guest. I love his clarity about who he is.
Too 5 episodes. Great one
Great great episode
Guys, I loved this episode. I was an early adopter of Highrise and have been a fan of Jason Fried. Great job. MFM continues to be my favorite podcast.
🙏 love hearing from Highrise customers.
Thank you for going all nerdy this episode getting into nitty gritty! Finally feels like mfm 2020
I follow Jason. His posts are just mind-blowing.
Love this interview and I'd love to see more like it. IMHO, Jason's lifestyle and way of doing business seems way more appealing to me and more worth emulating than the mega-success stories of billionaire founders.
Just wanted to say that this was one of my favorite episodes this year.
So glad you liked it! Thanks for watching.
Boom perfect guest
That's awesome, I also read the book a decade ago
Past entrepreneurs did things for the motivation of changing the world and expand consciousness, the sigma movitation for future ones will be to be a guest on MFM
Best podcast on the internet
Best podcast in the world! Cant wait untill im the first scandinavian to be on it.
His book 'Rework' literally helped me make my first $100k. I followed the principles in the book and carried it around like a maniac when I was building my first product. Been following Jason ever since. Always have a couple of copies of that book to gift people.
This dude is as legit as they come.
Out of curiosity- what product did you build?
So glad to hear the book was useful for you. Thanks for reading and thanks for watching.
Great,! More builders, less hustlers
Straight into the top 10 of MFM guests
“10 of Millions in Profits!”
Enough said!!👏👏
GOAT
@51:00 wait until he sees my hook and towel product
Keep it up, guys !!!
Love from Portugal 🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹🇪🇺👍🙏
I’m a new sub😊
47:00 price doesn't matter if it's worth it
Very refreshing to see a CEO like this, specifcally coming from hyper-capitalist US.
Hyper-capitalist??? We are total socialist Freaks. The free market died in America over a hundred years ago. An American couldn't tell you what capitalism is if he had 50 million in the bank. Trust me I know, I live in LA 😅😅. Thankfully there is still a spirit of entrepreneurship but only to the extent that our Cartel Capitalist Cleptocrats will tolerate.
I lack the adjectives to accurately explain how I much enjoy listening to how Jason thinks.
Very kind, glad it resonated.
Please bring Stewart Butterfield on the pod. Great job chatting with Jason! Thanks
would love to have him. his "we don't sell saddles here" blog post is framed on my wall
U guys brought 37Signals guy on the pod - wow 😮
Let’s get an Andrew x jason pod
How did you start software agency . I mean as a new agency it's difficult to find your first client, Can you share it once
You guys should cover the billionaire brothers Chris and Andrew masanto. They built multiple unicorns
Funny how the episodes line up, last ep, Shaan talks about how to crush yearly goals then Jason counters with the 6 week sprints only lol
Have you tried getting DHH on?
Shaan how come you always interrupt Sam before he finishes his question?
I actually want to hear what he has to say
Big fan of both but man you're so right
Jason Is incredible! He recommended “The Manual, Epictetus” to me years ago and it had a great impact on your boy. I appreciate you, Jason! Hope you’re still tinkering with vintage watches 🤓
wow
Why not implement this OTP strategy with your main product?
Entirely different kinds of offerings. One really is a service while one really is a product.
Subscriptions and Saas in general - isn't about the software - its about the constant upgrades and constant support. Thats what your paying for!
ONCE products update automatically too. It has nothing to do with SaaS.
I want to know the story about Jason inviting himself on the pod! How did that happen?
Have you guys noticed that something is off on shaan's wall?
No sound?
That mount Rushmore thing got me an idea. I'll tag you on a tweet after few days
Someone make slack with discord level of Giphs and thats all life needs
I clicked coz i though he was deadpool😂
Whats going on with the basecamp valuation? No way it’s worth 100b
What a chad
Ocupus ;) lol
Ocupus
They make hundreds of millions of dollars not 10's of millions.

Not first this time
Freaking CRAZY!!! Love per usual from East Bmore! Sim the trucker.❤️❤️❤️
What an inspiring entrepreneur and thought leader in a startup world obsessed with, as Jason says, "zeros and commas" and meaningless BS.
Hey guys can add a skip for the ads, it's annoying.
Sniffin my own farts 😂
he;s copying the pay once thing from DHH lol
We’re business partners!
Its time to stop this copy paste hampton ad
Feels like when you don't have to make goals... because you have 100K monthly recurring customers and high margins.
We got here operating the same way we operate today. No goals, figure it out as we go. Today is a continuation, not a change.
This guy is the opposite of Elon's First Principles approach.
Only 20 mins in - does anyone else feel like these questions are pointed and condescending from sean and sam?
Sam can you plz not use f**t metaphor? I don’t want to listen to that while having my lunch. You are cool tho.
this dude talking like he's on Jeff Bezo's level. Like dude chill
Bro I'm so done with these Hubspot ad
It's a small price to pay for a great content.
yall some lazy mf's
the ad is so obvious, skipping it takes like
We can go back to the older ads. At this point I heard Sam read the ad 100 times
Spice up the ad at least.
What are you going to do about it
Theme - hooks. Takeaway - founder's letter w a reframe POV and a great hook to get them interested. Plus Team Hooks all the way for the bathroom (Imma designer :)
