In my experience, the Auto center usually does close before the Sears it is associated with. I'm currently trying to keep a running tally of all Sears closings near me because I have a 2 year warranty on work done in May 2017 and our Auto center is due to close any day now. I was told it would by late March, but I think it's still open.
North side of the building was an appliance repair and parts store that I believe was associated with Sears I got my lawnmower repaired there a couple times before I started doing it myself
Worked in that bldg in the late 80's in college. Part of the bldg was used to repair appliances. The narrow office shown towards the middle of the video was their Maintenance Agreement sales center where I worked. HATED that job!!!
Great work on this my friend. I enjoyed it. Good memories. Beat of my knowledge, all of the Sears auto centers are still operational in the Atlanta GA area..
John Uhlig when we closed it became 100 percent the owners of the malls issues... if you look at the back side garage door where the one panel is popped out that is where I almost fell off the 30 yard dumpster we used to help clean this out
the sears auto center in eastgate ohio was being used as shopping center now they relly fixed up like its brand new its been closed since 2009 it took untill 2016 some to used it
Wow still lights and the die hard decal there!! Cool! Daamn that's a real nice view of the garage bay! That old office looks extra creepy. Interesting video man.
EndlessReprieve I couldn't believe it myself! I'm surprised I was able to get such a good view inside of the garage doors. Yeah, the office and rental business were creepy.
Was that weird looking mounting thing around time 5:03 perhaps for some kind of industrial machinery? Perhaps a compressor, tank for used oil, Air Conditioner, Shop Vacuum, or something related to the shop? I noticed the electrical panel nearby. I don't think dumpsters use that type of mounting as they are moveable and get dumped.
Stephen Hinkle It could have been a trash compactor. I've seen at a couple of other places similar mounting on the ground with the compactor still there.
5:28 wondering what all the Barrel lock key switches were for? seems kind of extream for an alarm system. . . unless they had a switch to disconnect each alarm sensor for each individual area.... 6:40 would be funny if they had a sticker on the door that said " PREMISES PROTECTED BY WASP SECURITY SYSTEMS INC" HA HA you rock as always Dude :)
DUSTERDUDE238 I used to work in this store that was for the fuel pump long before the auto center closed and I made sure that place was locked up like fort Knox in the main room with all the paper they used that as a boscos training and hiring area
This is now demolished and there’s a Sonic Drive-In now on the lot.
If was a car rental bussiness. With it being next to the Sears Auto Center it could have been a Budget Car Rental (another Sears Company).
i was always kind of slow. just checking out this video around 5 years later.... oh well a blast from the past
Millcreek Mall opened in 1975, so this was, I assume, one of the original anchors?

My experience, too. Many auto centers closed YEARS before the store itself, but often it was a sign of things to come.

Just announced yesterday. This building is going to be refurbished into a Sonic Drive in Restaurant.
The Auto Center looks like it could be a Family Dollar if they repurposed the building

Why doesn't AMAZON merge with SEARS? KEEP SEARS OPEN!!!!!
I love this video
Sears Auto Centers Are The Best.
They turned the one by the Beaver Valley Mall into a bus terminal. Now you got me wanting to do a video on it!
The GearShots Do it! I wouldn't mind seeing it!
It’s now sonic and the rest of where the auto place is abandoned just concrete
Yes. Most Sears Auto Centers have Avis Rental Car offices right next door
Looks like classroom to me. Maybe they are teaching people how not to run a Sears Auto Center.
That area is where they push in a dumpster/compactor and both businesses can make use of the dumpster
Bought tires there. Now a Sonic.
The one we had in Lakewood closed years ago, there must be another one here

They are still responsible for the building, any alarms and also the fire surpression still has to meet codes with the city and state.

Getting your car fixed at Sears Auto and eating at Pizza Hut or Wendy's you must do great on your budget no expenses
