Thank you I'm pleased you enjoyed it. I checked out your channel, I found one of your videos about laser cutting most enlightening. I'm gonna have to buy one now, so many possibilities.
Tim, I have commented on some of your NZ videos before…wish I had known you were filming as I would have chatted to you. Actually I may have anyway, that was me manning the stand at DCCConcepts?
Hi, it's a small world, I'm pretty sure we did have a chat, I was there on the saturday, the guy using a tripod, we talked about New Zealand, especially about Ferrymead. DCC Concepts is new to me and the stand really showed it off well. I live on the South Coast, if you are in the area, it would be nice to catch up for a chat.
I look at other people's layouts as though they were landscape paintings, but 3 dimensional and with some moving elements. At Ally Pally both Redbridge Wharf and Arun Quay were excellent examples, they caught the atmosphere and the ethos of the times so well. The contrast from my early modelling in the 1960's and what people and manufacturers achieve these days is staggering.
I know what you mean about 3D paintings, there are some wonderful railway dioramas at the Betws-y-Coed station museum in the Conwy Valley. The Redbridge model was exceptional, although I might be a bit biased as I knew the real place quite well. I started railway modeling in the 60's using mainly Triang/Hornby stock, later I added a Trix AH Peppercorn loco, a Hornby 4-6-2 4MT tank engine and a few years later some Wren examples, as you point out the quality of models has moved on to the point where I'm not sure they can be improved on. It was a really good show, I'm already looking forward to next year.
Hi Tim, I think this is the most professional video I've seen of the show this year. When is part 2 coming out? And I'm hoping that my layout (Beijiao) makes an appearance.😉
Hello, I'm pleased you enjoyed it. After a 2 year break it was good to see this exhibition back at Alexandra Palace, the models were a credit to the people who spend so much time and money creating them. I'm working on Part 2 as time allows, it should be available in a week or so and yes it will feature your wonderful model of Beijiao. My daughter worked in Beijing and Shanghai for about six years, I loved staying in the hotel next to Shanghai Central station where I had a grandstand view of all the railway action, no steam, but plenty of electric, diesel and high-speed trains. There was a Bachmann model shop in the station complex, I couldn't resist buying a model of a Chinese high-speed train along with a model of a diesel. Your layout really captured the atmosphere of a busy Chinese station.
The "N" gauge layout Yorkshire - Pennines at 23:44 is one of the best I have seen on UA-cam. I would love to see the track plan for the layout. I don't think I will ever get to see it live, I'm an Australian so if anyone knows if the owner has a UA-cam site can you leave me a message under my comment. This layout gets ten TooTs out of Ten from me...cheers from Australia
Hi, I agree it is one of the best N gauge layouts currently on the exhibition circuit, hopefully someone who can help you out will see this comment and pass on the details you are looking for. Cheers. Tim from the UK.
Hi Tim, absolutely wonderful footage! missed the show this year and found your link and thanks for uploading, superb quality, hope don’t mind asking but wondered what camera you use as need to replace my very old Hi8 .Eddie
Hi Eddie, it was a good show, for many of the exhibitors it was the first time their models had been out for more than 2 years, it's good to see things returning to something like normal. For the last 4 or 5 years I've been using a Sony FDR-AX53 Handycam. It was showing signs of wear and tear after a lot of use, so I did my research to buy a replacement, only to find there was nothing out there that suited my needs better than the camera I was already using, the next model up isn't really intended to be a point and shoot camera, it's a far more of a serious camera offering too many setting for me to screw up. The Sony FDR-AX53 Handycam has enough manual settings should you want to use them, I use it in auto mode most of the time and it does a pretty good job. I bought another Sony FDR-AX53 Handycam with one great advantage, it was £400 cheaper than my first one. It takes really nice still shots and the floating lens helps to keep video shots steady. It is coming to the end of it's production run, but it is still available. Cheers. Tim.
@@Timsvideochannel1 Hi Tim, thank you for your kind response and information, think the quality is just fabulous compared now to my old Hi8 tapes which at the time was the ‘Dogs’ but looking at them now look pretty say rough! But have so much which now is history needs to be transferred to what ever for historical reasons, but have no idea how to go about it. Thanks again for the brilliant filming. kind regards Eddie 🤓
@@edwardbarnes2702 Hi, I have transferred all my old VHS and Hi8 tapes to computer using my old Sony camcorder. It would take a while to explain, so I have attached this link to a video showing you how to do it - ua-cam.com/video/oYMszuMyGG4/v-deo.html I hope this helps. Cheers. Tim.
Set-ups like these aren't just bunged into the back of a ute, station wagon or panel van to be carted around to exhibits like this. It would take *AGES* to set these displays up.
Hi Neil, they didn't have long to set up this exhibition, I believe this on was set up in under a week. Those exhibited at schools have even less time, they have to set up between the end of the last class on Friday and the advertised opening time the following Saturday, then it all has to be gone for the start of lessons on Monday. It's also worth remembering these guys have to fit everything around their day job unless they are retired.
Hi Tim! Nice video 👍. You say in the description it's at Alexandra Palace. Can it be seen there for a whole year, or are the model railways brought there in modules and set up? This is also the place where the darts world championship final takes place on January 2nd. Best regards from Hans and Cheers 🍻🇦🇹.
Hello Hans, I'm pleased you enjoyed it, the exhibition is only on for one weekend a year, the layouts are all modular. Alexander Palace used to be home to BBC television back in the days when it was worth watching, today it is a venue for all kinds of entertainment, including darts championships. Take care. Tim.
12:14 This model is operating on the same method as that used by the Zig-Zag Railway at Lithgow, west of Sydney, NSW. Sadly though, that line has been out of action for some years now.
Hi Neil, hopefully the Zig Zag Railway will be restored one day, it's always sad to see a disused railway, especially when it's as historically important as the Zig Zag.
Some Brilliant Engine and Stock Model Engineering, an incredible Effort All around. Great scenery and buildings, so good! Well done to All.
Hi, I totally agree, the modellers deserve a well-earned "thank you", I'm sure they will appreciate your comment.
I so enjoy model trains. Thank you for sharing . Some of these builds are far and above what I have but I love watching them.
