  • Today, Danny is reviewing this Levoit Vital 200S air purifier, which is one of the newest models from the Vital family.
    According to our tests, this is the best air purifier for performance you can buy for less than $200.

    ⎯⎯ ⚖️ Pros and Cons
    ▸The PROS are its size, the noise levels are low, the power consumption average and the long-term running costs are the same as the smaller Vital 100S.
    ▸The CONS are the all-in-one (so it is a big waste of material every time you have to replace it), you can't find this device in Europe (a year after its launch) and the filter is not HEPA grade (as what happened with other Levoit units after Dyson challenged the use of HEPA in marketing materials).

    I just discovered you today via Adam Conover’s recent video (How Google RUINED the Internet). Because I had just purchased a large room air purifier on the 24th of this month after reading about various ones, I was thrilled to learn about your site and had to check it out. So I popped over and found the article about the best air purifiers to buy in 2024 (posted on the 24th, to my amusement) and lo and behold! -The very air purifier I purchased was listed as the top pick for large spaces! The Levoit Core 600S. Phew! I did good.
    And I must say, after leaving the Levoit 600S running for 6 hours in the basement I went down there and the air was CRISP! I had taken out the smaller air purifier that had been there (a BlueAir Pure 511, which is ok and now lives in my office, but is made for smaller spaces and it is also a PAIN to change the pre-filters and main filters on - so much so, I won’t be getting another like it.)
    I’m so glad you’re out here doing the work. Thank you. New subscriber! I’ll be letting others know about your site and videos.

      Glad our pick aligned with the unit you decided on!
      I'm no the biggest fan of blueair purifiers as they force you to use the ionizers but they can be effective and good sound levels/efficient.Good idea to look for devices that make cleaning the per-filter easier as you need to keep on top it to keep a good level of performance.
      Thanks for taking the time to share your experience, it was surreal to see our site being mentioned on Adams video.

      Looking at Amazon in Belgium and I would look at something like the Winix Zero or the Levoit Core 400S. Winix Zero seems best option for the price. Thanks for you comment and I do have a plan to release more information for those outside the US.

    Will most likely be buying this one today. We returned the Shark yesterday. On day one a cat could poop and it would suck the smell out of the air but two weeks later it was doing the opposite.

    • @HouseFresh

      Before you buy you might want to also look at the WInix 5500-2 as its probably better for odors then the Vital 200S. Instead of a bonded filter with carbon and particle, it has separate washable carbon filters which might provide you more help with your use case.
      I was planning to get the review up this week but might be slightly delayed but I have the written review here: housefresh.com/winix-5500-2-review/
      Which Shark device did you find didn't live up to your expectations?

      @@HouseFresh WOW! Thanks! Will read.
      Shark Never Change 650 SQ FT. Bought it at Best Buy so it had two week return policy. At the beginning I could feel it dramatically shifting the quality of the air as I sat or slept. I actually threw away the box because I was convinced it was a keeper. But overtime I was doubting its ability to keep same level of performance.
      Also was questioning the value of the fragrance insert. Am I paying extra for this option? I mean I don’t have to use it or buy future fragrance pods but maybe another purifier, that offers less, will be more focused.
      NOTE what started this shopping in purifiers was major construction in the next door apartment. Odors coming in through the wall.

    I've seen a lot of people talk about the filter layers, how the carbon should come before the hepa so that the hepa can catch possible carbon particles, however most companies like Levoit do it the other way around. What are your thoughts on this?

    • @HouseFresh
      @HouseFresh  Місяць тому +1

      Sorry for late reply 😞
      I was talking about this recently. Many companies have the carbon at the back but I did notice that smart air has the carbon on the opposite side. It would make sense to have the hepa after carbon but I also think there is a benefit to having pure hepa if you don’t need the carbon as will get improved air cleaning performance. I think non hepa grade is a good fit for home air purifiers as they have improved air flow.

    Hi. I have a question. The levoit you tested removed pm1 particles in 21 minutes but I've read online that if the filter is brand new it actually, to begin with, adds pollutants to the room to begin with because it is off gassing but in your test it removed them without adding, in 21 minutes. I'm wondering what your thoughts are on that.
    Also, I have a levoit core 300 with a new toxin filter. Do you know if the levoit core 300 can remove pm1 particles?
    I would be grateful for a reply. Thank you 👍

    • @HouseFresh
      @HouseFresh  Місяць тому +1

      Maybe it releases some gasses but not particulates. If you look at the test video you will see it does remove all PM1 in a room of 728 cubic feet in 21 minutes so yes does work for particles this size.
      I haven’t noticed any off gassing with new filters.

    I’d like to get an air purifier for my daughter’s bedroom. She was allergy tested to be severely allergic to dust mites and highly allergic to dogs. We were told to get a Hepa air filter and I know there’s been controversy about these filters. Is this still a good choice for someone with these types of allergies.i do not want anything that uses ionization. Any other recommendations?

    • @HouseFresh
      @HouseFresh  10 днів тому

      So these are not HEPA grade but they will still remove the particles from the air that cause allergies from dust/dogs. There is a really good video on here that goes into detail here ua-cam.com/video/gaQTYrisieA/v-deo.htmlsi=Ejt3ZO-tSzXV3No2
      From testing this device it was able to remove tiny particles and was much cheaper than many other devices that were slower , so this makes it our top choice for this year.
      If your daughter’s bedroom is very large (over 360 sq ft) you might need a larger device with a higher cadr score.
      Some other devices that don’t use ionization and are HEPA grade filters would be the SmartAir SA600 housefresh.com/smart-air-sa600-review/
      Or Alen Flex: housefresh.com/alen-breathesmart-flex-review/
      The Vital 200S was much faster at removing particles than these but they are still good devices to consider.
      If you give me more detail and I can provide more suggestions.

    We’ve noticed you live in U.K. how did you get a hold of 200s in U.K. ? We’ve search far and wide and could only find filters but not air purifier itself. Any help would be greatly appreciated

    • @HouseFresh
      @HouseFresh  Місяць тому +2

      hey, we actually got ours shippied from the US via Snapklik.com. I wouldn't reccomend it though as it's very expensive and it's a US version so you need to use a US transformer to use.
      The Vital 100S is available in the UK but for some reasons, Levoit hasn't brought the Vital 200S over to the UK or Europe.
      I am going to be working on putting together a list of the best air purifiers that are available in the UK very soon - so keep an eye on that.

    5:40 Actually it's very tricky or rather sneaky. They say this on their website: "Levoit Original Filter is HEPA-grade while operating in Sleep Mode, as tested by an independent lab."
    So it's only HEPA, when operated in sleep mode. 😅
    There's also also marketing video on Levoit official UA-cam channel and while they don't say it, they show filter in this device as 3 separate elements (pre, carbon and HEPA).
    Seems like they employ all kinds of shady practices.

    • @HouseFresh
      @HouseFresh  28 днів тому +1

      When I did this video the term HEPA was still on their website and now it’s removed. I wish Levoit would make a public statement as it’s really not a good look. It’s weird they say that it’s HEPA when on sleep mode as the HEPA grade is for the filter and wouldn’t be different for a specific speed so very strange.

    • @1stRanger
      @1stRanger 28 днів тому

      @@HouseFresh Yes, it would if it's not true HEPA. It means filter can handle small particles at low airflow, but fail when airflow increases. So I think Dyson was right to call them out on their BS. But even after that Levoit keeps their shady marketing BS and instead of removing HEPA rating altogether they add this note that most people will likely miss or won't understand what it means.
