Sounds good but this isn't a true comparison. The jcw exhaust he fitted was modified. The center silencer was removed so it was a straight pipe basically with just rear silencer so not really a fair comparison sadly. Also if the car has sports button in sports mode it naturally has pops and bangs in the stock software for those asking about the pops. If your r56 doesn't have sport button stock N18 s doesn't pop atall. Stock N14 s has some pops tho naturally but it's not like a coded thing they just do it now and then.

Thanks for the comment. You're right. The JCW exhaust I obtained was modified, and I did not have the means to test a stock one.

I've got a 2009 Mini Cooper S Camden edition and the exhaust is the stock one which is the same as yours. How did you get it to pop in the first clip? Did you have sport mode on or is there a specific range you need to rev in?

Hello Ben, are you referring to the popping with the stock exhaust at 0:32? I had not done any mods to the headers and exhaust at that point. I think the backfiring happened naturally, or the previous owner may have had the car tuned to do that. If you're referring to the popping noise at idle at 0:00 then that was the result of the JCW exhaust.

Hi, yep I was on about the backfire at 0:32. I think it might have been a tune because we never have ours backfire, although we don't rev it hard which is probably why! The JCW exhaust sounds so much better than the stock. Do you still have the stock down pipe from the turbo and the stock pipe running along the underside of the car to the backbox when you had the JCW exhaust on?

Hi Ben. Thought I’d put in my 2 cents. If you have a R56 pre-LCI (2007-2009) with the N14 engine, it’ll struggle to pop and bang. Post LCI R56’s (2010-2013) with the N18 engine, pop and bang a lot more. The R56 in this video is a post LCI (facelift) with the N18 engine, hence the decent amount of over-run. Hope this helps :)

Is this with the cat on the downpipe too or just the exhaust

I may have misspoke in the video. The JCW should have been a catback exahust (piping after the catalytic converter) without the stock resonator.

I think the tip is welded to the muffler. You'd need a shop to cut and reweld a different one

How did you get the v clamp out in the front

I recall loosening the bolt, and using a flathead screwdriver and/or pliers to pry it off.
