@@23Echeo The scores don't matter, it's the ordinals...as long as they put Rudy higher than Eldredge. If that judge had given Eldredge a 5.7 then Rudy's score would make sense to be a 5.8 since he was just a little better. A 6.0 in that case wouldn't make sense, it has to be in line with the level of the other skaters.
I remember this as if it was yesterday. I was so proud, so happy for him and his sister, Laura. And so nice to look back and see it wasn't all about the jumps. Well done!
Best male program Ever in Male Figure Skating...always admired ur perfection ! 10s across the board! We miss u..ps touched so by sign of the Cross...Beautiful
The skate moms being so happy for their kids coach, to win his first singles nationals. That is what gets me. How happy and thrilled they are for Rudy. Kissing and hugging him after the marks are read.
As a performing artist who is also gay, it never would have occurred to me to seek out support material from other gay artists/composers/etc; rather I would look for the music or whatever that best suited what I needed to accomplish...it seems odd to me to use common sexual preferences as a source of professional material.
In all my years of skating THIS is the one that touches my HEAT the most. Finding out later that Rudy ended up being Emma's coach is the ribbon on the bow that always makes me smile!!!😍
I remember watching this performance live just waiting for this extraordinary artist to touch us with his humanity and that heart stopping performance. He didn’t disappoint. I cried then and cried now.
I can remember watching this performance as a young boy of 8... I was obsessed with this sport back then after watching the 1994 Olympic games... We didn't have cable so ABC wide world of sports was one of the few ways that one could watch figure skating and I remember being allowed to eat my dinner at the table cold many times so that I could watch figure skating when it aired... I Miss those days... I remember watching this performance and mentioning to my mother that I had never heard of this guy before and she told me that he's an underdog and she told me that it's good to root for the underdog... Looking back it's an even more incredible story than I could have thought. Being a nobody and a has been to being the third best in the world than a matter of a few short months.... Then was able to have a professional career that gained him some financial security and allowed us fans to enjoy his performances for years. Such a great story!
Rudy was one of the best. His Here Come the Clowns, in full costume, was spectacular. When he tossed the hoop across the ice with a pull, it always came back and he always caught it. ua-cam.com/video/SHSw4EgVAP4/v-deo.html
He is my cousin !! So amazing love watching his old performances
The fake judges should've given him 6.0s across the board! Idk what they were on! FAKE ASF! RUDY DESERVED 6.0s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is just as moving today as it was in 96. Thank you Rudy!
I remember watching this live. Seeing it again has brought me such joy!! 😂
A skate for the ages ❤️❤️❤️
Before my beloved Johnny and Brown, it was Rudy who amazed me with his grace ❤

Rudy could have heard me cheering and crying from the State of Georgia. Perfection. The best
I cry every time I watch this performance
The deafening roar from the crowd at 07:58 is ear-splitting. It was when the final placements were posted on the scoreboards.
They started cheering over a minute before he was finished! How's THAT for support. What a once-in-a-lifetime moment we got to share with Rudy.
Rudy was the last skater (well maybe Jason Brown) in the John Curry tradition.

I was looking for a lefty skater. Most of them aren’t. :)
This STILL gets me emotional! One of the most iconic skates ever.❤️
Just as thrilling today as it was then!
I like how Galindo chose Tchaikovsky for his performance. Tchaikovsky was a great composer, and gay, like Galindo himself.

Wasn’t even breathing heavy after !! That’s Training !!
