      Actually I do, left the Marine Corps as a E4, did 4 years as an infantry squad leader, pt is great test scores are good. Went to Meps yesterday and failed the hearing test. Recruiting command submitted a waiver. Can I not get a option 40 with a medical waiver? If not how does the recruiting process take place for active duty guys? Like as an example if I take a 11x contract, do my time and try to get in the Ranger Regiment that way. My hearing is fine, I passed 2 hearing test from two govt agencies in the last month, Meps is retarded

      I can't fully answer you because your question pertains more towards somebody who is in recruiting. My knowledge is of the 75th Ranger Regiment, not USAREC policy. However, you could likely enlist without an option 40 and generally during infantry osut, if you are a strong performer you can get a rasp slot. My only caveat is once you enlist, you no longer have certainty of anything except what is on paper. As a former marine, you should already know that though.

      Thanks for taking questions. I've heard that a lot of Rangers say that getting into the 75th is the easy part, it's staying in that's the hard part. If I make it through RASP, any advice on what I should know before joining my unit.

      That quote has existed for a very long time. It is true; RASP is the easiest part of being a Ranger. RASP 1 is geared towards junior enlisted privates fresh out of Basic/AIT/OSUT and Airborne School.
      At that level, you really don't know shit. RASP teaches you what you need to pass, and as long as you don't quit.. you should be fine. There are standards you need to meet as well. Coming to Battalion as a private used to be grueling. Until getting your Ranger Tab, you used to get hazed daily. The military has cut down almost entirely on hazing. You won't get your shit pushed in anymore unless you fuck up. You will also still need to get Tabbed before you can be in a leadership role or promoted past E-4 in combat MOS's.
      All this being said, our training cycles are very taxing mentally and physically. Our operational tempo is very high. This line of work burns you out fast, and yes.. you need to earn your Scroll everyday.

    Is it possible to sign an 11x option 40 contract straight out of high school and if it is how likely is it. I’m almost done with my sophomore year and I’m not sure what I have to do to expand my chances for an 11x option 40

    • @devincazzol4254
      @devincazzol4254 6 років тому +1

      Brett Appleby If you’re 18 it makes signing documents easier. Make sure you score above a 55 on the ASVAB. Make sure that your PT score is above 250, preferably 270. Make sure you’re doing your push-ups right and I mean RIGHT because if not you will hear 0 0 0 all day long which will lead to disqualification. Make sure you start your enlistment process when high school starts, but don’t let that be your only option. You’ll always have other routes like ROTC.

      Have either of you been through a course like Ranger school? I would venture to say no. Passing these schools have very resonable pt standards, pass the standards stay in the course. Being selected for a unit is a diffrent story, where pt scores, leadership capability and just your general charecter all come into play however thats not what i said. I said to pass the course. If you havnt been through an elite school dont make videos or comments about them.

    I just swore in last Wednesday as a 13F Option 40. I went to MEPs fucking five times before finally enlisting. I had to switch recruiters and was DQ'd medically at one point, but still got an Option 40. Here is my best advice for MEPs.
    - Don't go to MEPs without an Option 40
    Going to MEPs without an Option 40 will be a headache for you and your recruiter. Chances are you wont be able to get an Option 40 contract down at MEPs. 11x Option 40s are so damn popular. Wait until you can reserve an Option 40 before you go to MEPs. It may take a couple months. Be patient. If you go to MEPs without an Option 40 (like I did), your recruiter will try and force you to sign an 11B or 11x contract with no Option 40 and tell you that you can request for RASP when you are already in. Don't settle. I refused to sign anything than an Option 40 at MEPs and pissed off my recruiters, but eventually got my way. Your allowed to walk away without signing. You'll recruiter will fucking hate you, but don't settle. I became a QNE (Qualified Not Enlisted) two times. I refused to sign twice because I didnt get an Option 40 in my contract down at MEPs.
    -Do not get a medical waiver
    You cannot get an Option 40 (Ranger) Option 4 (Airborne) or 18x (Special Forces) with a medical waiver. A medical waiver denies you from testing for an Airborne Physical. The only way you can get an Option 40 with a medical waiver is if you passed the Airborne Physical before you got the medical waiver or disqualified. That was me. I passed the Airborne Physical and all medical tests my first time at MEPs, but I was DQ'd during my 2nd time at MEPs during my inspect for a tiny rash. The doctor thought I had eczema. I went to two dermatologist and got two doctors notes to send with a medical waiver. Luckily, it was approved and I had already passed the Airborne physical prior to my DQ. I recommend asking for the Airborne Physical soon as possible once you get to the Medical testing at MEPs, that way if anything does come up you'll already be Airborne Physically qualified.
    I went to MEPs five friggin times, so if you guys have any questions, just ask.

    • @mastermike95
      @mastermike95 7 років тому

      Anon Yes you can volunteer for RASP or SFAS at basic/AIT/airborne, but the chances you are picked are slim. Every damn infantry recruit will apply for RASP. I have heard of the Ranger liaisons picking 2/50 recruits who apply. All depends on the needs of the Regiment. It's definitely a gamble, you may not even see a Ranger liaison through ur training. If you go this route without an Option 40, you need to make sure you have a perfect APFT score. You basically have to be the best recruit physically and mentally out of everyone at basic or OSUT.

    • @mastermike95
      @mastermike95 7 років тому +3

      It is possible though to make it to RASP without an option 40. I met an active duty Ranger at a bar last week. He went In as 11x no option 40 and basically was a PT stud. He fucking killed it at basic/OSUT. Destroyed everybody In the runs and AFPT tests.
      Personally, I say hold out for an Option 40, but if you do have to go with no option 40 it's possible to make it to RASP, just a little harder.

    Usually if you can score an Airborn contract and lock that in you'll at least have the chance to raise your hand and volunteer for the third time for RASP at the end of airborne school, RASP cadre come to pick up all the options 40 cats and also ask for more volunteers. They can steal you from your unit if you complete the selection process. They have priority over every other unit and have the power to rewrite your contract if they select you to the pros. So if you can't get an option 40 ask for an airborne contract and at least have that, because it will open more doors for you like RASP. Be careful what you ask for you just might get it. Keep in mind, it is much easier to get into the 75th Ranger Regiment then it is to stay there. Getting your tan beret is not even the beggining, The beginning starts when you meet your squad leader and team leaders in your squad, then after they finish with you they turn you over to the tab spec 4's. These men become your brothers for life, and I'm not just talking the ones in your squad, I'm talking all Rangers past and present. RLTW!

    There is some really screwed up information in this video.
    - Since around 2006, candidates go to Pre-RASP and RASP before Airborne School. Regiment got tired of paying $50k per Airborne student when classes of 300+ RASP candidates showed up to Pre-RASP and half quit in the first week. But Regiment was still getting stuck with the bill.
    - Ranger School is not in the official pipeline. It can take 12-18 months for a Ranger to get a slot to go to SURT and then go to Tab School depending on how well they perform at their job. There have been Rangers who have done full enlistments and never been to Tab school. They either chose to keep deploying with their Brothers, didn't care, or simply didn't want to go. It limits your advancement and access to other schools and you'll never hold a leadership position in Regiment; but it has happened.
    - Everyone from E-6 and up goes to RASP 2, not just senior NCOs. And everytime you advance to the next highest leadership position, you get sent back to RASP 2 to make sure you are still up to speed on the basics. Regardless of rank. Only unit in the US arsenal that does this.
    - Not everyone that goes to RASP is a 'beast'. It's not about the best guy, it's about being the right guy. You can max on every single physical test and skills task, but if they simply don't like your face, you fail your psyche eval, you don't get your security clearance, your fellow candidates peer you out because they don't like you, or you just don't have the right attitude; you won't get selected.
    - Regiment needs and recruits for all of the following MOS's, not just the few mentioned:
    11B, 11C, 11Z, 12B, 12H, 12R, 12W, 12Y, 13F, 13Z, 17C, 17E, 25B, 25C, 25D, 25E, 25N, 25P, 25Q, 25S, 25U, 25W, 25X, 27D, 29E, 35F, 35G, 35L, 35M, 35N, 35P, 35S, 35Z, 36B, 37F, 38B, 42A, 56M, 68J, 68S, 68T, 68W, 68X, 74D, 79S, 88M, 88N, 89B, 91B, 91C, 91D, 91E, 91F, 91S, 91X, 91Z, 92A, 92F, 92G, 92L, 92R, 92Y, 94E, 94F, 94W, 94Y
    More info and to contact Regiment directly: www.benning.army.mil/Tenant/75thRanger/Recruiting.html
    - While it's your best bet is to hold out for an Option 40 contract before you ship from MEPs (even if it takes months), Regiment now has hot desks on most training posts in the US (since around 2015) and do a presentation and recruiting day for most AIT and OSUT classes. That's because so many folks quit RASP or Pre-RASP. If they don't have reps on your training post, email or call them directly at Fort Benning. They can change your orders remotely if your MOS is in demand and the timing fits a Pre-RASP intake. They are a very calm and professional team of guys. If they need your MOS and you are doing well in initial training and your general profile passes the sniff test; you'll get a shot. Regiment are almost always short handed. When I got to my (supposedly) 11 man squad, it was me, two other guys and my squad leader. Two others were away at schools and one other had been seriously injured. Regiment are never at full strength.

    I was a 19D with the 3rd Cav. My Friend who just got out, I ETS'd about 3 years ago and am still Inactive reserve, My question is my friend was in for 6 years and there were rumors of him going to Regiment, so when I caught up with him he stated he was with the 1/75th, berore ETS'n I asked him what his MOS is now and he said 19D1V I asked him why he was not a 11 series and he stated he was OJT'd (on the Job Training) to 11B but he carries the mos of a Scout, Airborne Ranger, Does this make any since to you?, I asked him for his dd214 and he never showed it to me..Im just curios if mb he is Bullshitting me. I was thinking about rejoining cus civilian life sux for me. I know I will not have to go through Basic again and prob go straight to RASP. My question is if you are a combat mos and go to RASP do you then got to go to 11X school or do they just OJT you to Infantry, and you keep you MOS nomenclature like 19D but get the V, I heard the V is just for Ranger school. I did try to goggle this but cannot come up with a clear answer. Thanks so much for your service, and talking the time to reply. Scouts Out.

    Hey, thanks for the shout out and thnx for actually making the video. I gotta say though, I was a bit disappointed b/c I was not interested in the op 40 route per say (given that I've done my hwk since I plan on signing one); I was more interested in your literal view of the guys in the 75thRR. STuff like the 'no shits given attitude' (and btw, what do you mean by that? I mean, I know what those words mean, but I would imagine that regular infantry guys are like that as well right? Especially those from like other hardcore units like the 82nd? So, what's different f about the Ranger's 'no shits given attitude'?). You always do a great job covering the in-house side of things (the contractual side, the formal stuff). But see, I know what I need to know on that side. What's interesting are the anecdotes you drop on us here and there about Army life that are so interesting, raw, and piercing. Like the "rangers look all alike," or the lack of any black guys in the regiment. That's the stuff I wanted to hear about.
    In a future video, I would appreciate it if you could go over these kinds of stuff and your general impression about the regiment from the outside. And more about the kinda guys that make it.

    • @kidthndr2
      @kidthndr2  7 років тому +2

      Ah, okay , roger Im tracking what your saying now. However when I mean that "no shits given" there attitude towards anything tough is always fearless, like its already done as soon as they are told. They aren't to worried or scared of anything out there. However I haven't got to talk to many rangers except for maybe 1 or 2 in the afternoon. Although Ill make sure to drop some more information on rangers when I get some more info.

      DAmn man, it's inspiring to see how on top of shit you are; I mean-damn, I leave my laptop for a sec and you've already replied to my comment! I can't believe you're in OCS and vloging. Any who, thanks for the clarification. Anecdotes like that give me something to emulate in my mindset and training as I prepare to enlist and join the regiment. So, yes, please drop some more info on rangers as much as possible! And less on rules and structure, and more about the demeanor, personality, mindset, and attitude of the guys. And really, the regiment in general. The regiment seems to me to be the most mysterious (as in, there is less info on it) unit in the military. There are a lot of books on the unit, SF, AWG, SEALs, Raiders, PJ, and infrantry units in general + a ton of former team guys out there who do interviews and podcasts...and I've noticed that among all these units, the 75th is virtually unspoken. I've found 1 book on the post-911 regiment (the reaper), and some good shit on SOFREP and that's about it! So yeah man, your input - even if, it's from an outsider perspective - would be priceless to me. Plus, I love the way you put things. No bull shit, personable, and to the point

    I’m a 9th grader thinking of joining The green berets. What’s the recommendation of taking this path? 18x or going through some other army operations such as the army rangers.
    I as well want to know how to train myself physically because I feel like I do have the mentality but physically I need work on that.

    • @sboat7264
      @sboat7264 4 роки тому

      Don’t bother thinking about any of that right now. If you’re serious and committed, start training now. Even if you hate sports, join a team so you get the training. For your age, running 3 times a week with real effort will do you wonders over the next few years. I’d say when you get into your junior year start hitting the gym hard and really trying to get upper body strength, but don’t stop running. Eat healthy. Don’t even think about getting a contract and focus your time on preparing for anything.

    • @sboat7264
      @sboat7264 3 роки тому

      @@phonkaddict2119 Don't worry about pushups, that will improve massively during OSUT on its own if you put the effort in. You'll be doing more than you ever could dream of at ft benning. (atleast for inf). Upperbody strength is not a concern unless you go in absurdly weak. Get to a point of being able to do 30-40 chest to ground pushups going in and you'll be fine, you can improve that massively over 6 months. The biggest thing is running. While you're there you dont have as many chances to run recreationally, have time to recover, etc. You run on their schedule not theirs, meaning the day after your 3 mile group run you could have a 8 mile ruck, so you cant push yourself as hard knowing you need the energy tomorrow. So just go in trying to be at a 15 min 2 mile pace. You have 2 years so you have plenty of time to achieve these goals. Biggest thing is nutrition. If you're even 10 pounds over weight your pushups and run times suffer massively.

    • @sboat7264
      @sboat7264 3 роки тому

      @@phonkaddict2119 But to answer your question more precisely to improve upper body strength you just have to combine calisthenics with weight lifting. do a few days of only body weight workouts or maybe body weight with a weighted vest and do stuff like 100 pushups, 150 squats, 50 pullups as fast as you can even if it takes 40 minutes. then the next day or 2 days later go to the gym and lift weights focusing on upper body. but dont neglect your legs. stretch every day and try to run 3 times a week, making one of those days atleast 5 miles at a comfortable pace.
